I could. Save the bottle, go to a bar and buy a dram. Or, buy two bottles (one to save, one to drink).

Whiskey should not be an investment. All that does is allow distilleries to jack up prices and even worse allows liquor store to jack up prices even more

It's the same issue with supercars. You get these magnificent works of arts meant to be driven to the extreme and they end up sitting in a garage for their lifetime. "Investors" ruin everything.

@@TheApana To what extent is the investor's fault or the people willing to pay enormous sums of money for these rare products? If all these premium whiskies were drunk as intended (i.e. purchased and then enjoyed on special occasions) there wouldn't be a market for these products at all.

Be rich or have a great income. Travel. Don't be an alcoholic. Drink very little of your collection other than one small pour every now and then. Have no friends and don't advertise your collection. Remember that cost reflects rarity, not quality of taste.

It depends really. If you have a bottle that is mostly empty it won't last long. If you have a bottle that is nearly full then it will last a good few years. If I have the end of a bottle I don't intend to drink for a while, I'll pour it into a miniature bottle to preserve it

Whisky from 50 -60 year ago is drinkable and fine.I know I've drank them. And especially when it's got I high proof and been looked after. As for how long it will last.Just keep decanting it into smaller bottles, and it will last for as long as you want it to.

Investing in whiskey as in watches or cars is dumb. Unless you already have a fortune. You have a stock market or real estate for that. Much more comfortable, efficient and faster. That way you can actually afford to chug straight from the bottle, what others dare just to stare at.

Stop swirling the whiskey in the glass, it is unnecessary.

    • @hasheeshiann

Nothing is necessary. Although swirling enables you to see the viscosity as well as accelerates evaporation which is vital for smelling the whiskey.
