Purdue team smashes Rube Goldberg world record

- The Purdue Society of Professional Engineers team smashed its own Guinness world record for largest Rube Goldberg machine with a 300-step behemoth that flawlessly accomplished the simple task of blowing up and popping a balloon.
The team spent more than 5,000 hours constructing the machine that accomplished every task ever assigned in the competition's 25-year history, including peeling an apple, juicing an orange, toasting bread, making a hamburger, changing a light bulb, loading a CD and sharpening a pencil.

This machine could have been filmed in a way that it would have made sense. You just have to shoot each step separately and edit them together into one long video that makes sense. Multiple cameras would help too. The hooting is easy to take care of with music.

Also, if the engine for the balloon pumps is steam powered, it would have started faster with some cylinder cocks, cus I garuntee the engine was cold in retrospect to the steam temperature.

I was at the college competition. I liked the tron one the best. It broke though.
would have been more interesting if i understood how everything triggered everything else. it was sorta just like a blur and at the end i was like,"wa?"

I disagree that it's annoying to watch. I feel like I'm right there with these fine people during the moment they finally get their machine to work. You can hear them cheering their baby on each step of the way. Their hard work and efforts finally realized at the popping of the balloon.

The shooting wont make it move slower from one step to another ? I ment you to buy a whole new machine which is way more clear ,moves slowly from step to step without a bunch of guys hooting in the background.

All that work and the video is only 2:17 long, it moves too fast from one step to another, is completely unclear how each step triggers the next step and has a bunch of guys hooting in the background.
