Lightning POV - Vekoma Launch coaster at Furuvik

- First POV of the new for 2023 Vekoma Family Launch caster Lightning.
Each ride consists of two laps. The second features a rolling launch and is faster than the first.
It has a height limit of only 1 meter.
The coaster is located at Furuviksparken in Sweden
(C) FABH Adventures.
People that steal content should be forced to ride only SLCs for the rest of their life.
New gen vekoma POVs give me life. There’s something about the track design and the layouts that sooth my soul lmao

I'm a huge fan of what vekoma has been doing with mid-size and family coasters. There has been a giant gap between beginner and extreme coasters for decades and only now is it really being filled with novel products that treat their designs just as seriously as high-thrill intense rides. I think launch technology has been the largest factor in making these sorts of designs viable.
Love that the second lap is slightly faster! Looks like a lot of fun!
It is super fun, even for people for normally prefer faster and more extreme coasters.
For us the first lap was faster. 😊 all five times. It felt like it almost would stop on the second lap at a curve at the top.
Interesting! I hade the same feeling on my rides - before opening and during opening weekend - but on the first lap. Maybe they have tweaked the launches since then. Looking forward to try it again.

Indeed! It is amazing how they have managed to push the boundries of not only larger coasters like Fonix and Lech but also family coasters like this

Man these New generation vekoma family coasters are something else. And they look smooth as butter and crazy intense.
Vekoma is slowly moving from the most hated to becoming one of the holy trio

What a joke those statements are together. And no Vekoma isn’t remotely close to Intamin or RMC and only a psycho would suggest otherwise lol. Making 35 family coasters per year doesn’t match the top dogs. vekoma has very few top tier thrill coasters and those few are nowhere near the best Intamins or RMCs. Maybe let people who actually ride them come up with those opinions lol.

Competition is a good thing when not taken to extremes.

I wouldn’t say this resembles an RMC in any way, but opinions are subjective. Cheetah Hunt and Verbolten are two examples of fairly intense family coasters which predate RMC’s major impact on the industry. Verbolten was built before RMC even made their first hybrid coaster.

I can’t believe the fact that: everyone was hyped for big bear mountain, but nobody was talking about this. And this looks better than big bear 👌🏻
BBM is in one of the most popular parks in the world... and this is a so far rather unknown swedish park. But it is fun to see that this coaster is getting a lot of attention and I am certain we will se clones of it in many parks in the future.

This looks pretty fun. I did wish the first round was as fast tho, but it does make great sense since its build to warm the kids up to bigger thrills. Have you ridden it? Or was this just mounted?
The POV is mounted but I got a few rides afterwards. It is a really fun coaster! Not as intense or fast as Juvelen but I can't think of a single coaster that is better when it comes to allowing riders with a hight of only 1 meter.

Loving that landscaping. A little more horticulture, and it will be magical.
Give it a few months and it will be a striking combo of green grass, the black track and the red and white station. I really like how they left many boulders nearby the track during construction.

Luckily they have hired some new people since them :- ) And I would love to try Great Nor'Easter since it is supposed to be rather good

in this video, you can so clearly see the boundaries between different elements- it is much better than the "classic" Vekoma loopers evidently,but the transitions are still very clearly visible, astonishing! With other coasters from this generation, this is not so easily possible - I wonder what happened here, whether the "planet coaster" feeling of this ride is an intentional feature.. (?)
Is this running with LIM’s instead of LSM’s?
Yes, Vekoma vent with LIMs on both Lightning and Big Bear Mountain. It apparently fit their current track and train design better.

@SunshineStateCoasters Really hope so to! Lightning one of the best family coasters I have tried and people really seen to like BBM. Vekoma has developed a great new modell with their family launch coasters!
they are using LIM gen 2, it apparently fixes the problems with LIM. This allows the trains to be much lighter and less power to be used i think.

Yes, it features an LIM launch. It is the same modell and track as BBM.

Not too bad at all on either opening day or last Sunday when I visited. The lines were never longer than approx 15 minutes. Furuvik is not a big park and offers other rides and coasters.

Same modell and many similar elements. And two laps… but yeah still shorter than BBM which is a impressive long coaster

An amazing 400 riders per hour
The line moved quite fast opening night... But it is not a very big park so its capacity will probably be fine most days. And they always have the option of just doning one lap rides.

The POV is shot a few weeks before opening. Lots of grass and plants were added before it was opened to the public.
