Makita Charger conversion -110 to 220 AC

  • I converted Makita DC18RA charger bought from the U.S. to work in 220V AC. I followed the instructions from this site:

    I used lower than 900Vds MOSFET because I couldn't find one, also I didn't need to replace the ceramic fuse since it was ok.

      Przy zakupie kondensatora 470uf 450V zwróć uwagę na jego wymiar ponieważ może nie zmieścić się w obidowie ładowarki.Ja zastosowałem mniejszy 390uf 450V zmieścił się.
      Części są na Allegro bez problemu.

    What happen to the blue caps
    Capasitor next to the 220uf , are they in cluded parts for coversion, 120 to 220,240

    How the output voltage remains the same when we increase the input voltage. Why does the output voltage not increase as the input voltage increases? E.g. for 110V the output is 20V and for 220V the output should be 40V.

    I have two if those 110vac Makita chargers. My solution, sir , is to simply buy a 230vac to 110vac step down transformer. Problem solved!

      True Mr Fred po. But when you have to go to a work site it's really difficult to also carry a step down transformer. That was my thinking 😊

    Our building sites here in the UK only allow 110v equipment. As such, I need to do the oposite...change my makita 230v to 110v. What were the capacitors, varistor and fuse values for a 110v charger 👍

      @@The3DHead Taken out from the 110v Charger, I can pick out the following from the video:
      200v 1000uf capacitor
      200v 22uf capacitor
      Just need the values of the varistor and fuse. Many thanks 👍

      Unfortunately I followed instructions I found online. But how it can be different? Isn't it the same charger model with what I demonstrate?

      In 220 it doesn't, I thought the same thing and it exploded in my hands

      Mine went "pop" also. Apparently just mislabeled. Surprisingly bad behavior for a good company like Makita

      Note that the label on the bottom of the charger say ok for for 240 V.

    I can't believe that Makita would be so cheap as to use the same label for different voltage rated chargers.
    Reading it, I would have it would have worked too.

      Varistor only helps to protect the charger from high voltage in... It can work with out it.

    I DID ALL THE STEPS.WITH SAME MODEL=IT TURN ON...BUT THE THE MOSFAT EXPLOUDE AFTER I PUT BATTERY,,,! NOW-THE CHARGER STILL TURN ON BUT WHEN THE BATTERY PLUGED IT SHOW LIKE IT "BAD BATTERY - I DON'T LIKE TO BAY AND REPLACE NEW MOSFAT UNLESS I WILL KNOW WHY IT BLOWUP...CAN ANY ONE HELP ME ? (ALL OTHER PARTS 100% THE SAME AS IN THIS VIDEO...OUR POWER IS 220V

    Majstore ,tvoje lemljenje je krajnje neprofesionalno kao i alat. Zar nemožeš uzet grickalicu za nokte pa odrezat višak žice nego sa tim kliještima velikim tu malu žicu vrtiš napred nazad. Katastrofa!

      Does it though? If you look closely you can see that it is not V for Volts but it's W for Watts.
