    I just recently purchased the viper g2 camo. I had read before I purchased to give it a cleaning and lube. Right out of the box I disassembled it and cleaned it and then lubed it up. The track where the rails slide I gave a light coating of hoppe's black gun grease. I then reassembled it and took it out and run about 15 Winchester medium load 2 3/4 shells through it. It functioned flawlessly.
    I then grabbed a mix of Federal Estate and Winchester shells of very load. I mixed them up in the magazine. They worked and cycled smoothly without a single hiccup. I also mixed them up again and shot It as fast as I could pull trigger. It functioned perfectly. I am totally satisfied with this shotgun and believe that you can spend a lot more on a major brand name and not get any better of a shotgun.

    Just a heads up, the fps was faster because it was a lighter load, not because it had more gun powder. The Federal was 1 1/8 ounce and the Estate was 1 ounce. Less shot = faster. A heavy 12 gauge load would be hunting loads with 1 1/8th to 1 1/4 ounce shot at 1300-1500 fps range.

    Hey Eric it's the Winchester universal ammo that is the problem. I have had issues shooting it in my auto's. Once i switched to anything else they cycled fine.

    I have the Viper G2 in waterfowl and mine does not like the Winchester ammunition as well. I put 100 rounds through it and it fully cycled once, I bought some 1oz steel and it cycled flawlessly.

    After watching your video, I also got one of mine. Mine is silver model and was able to shoot yesterday. I only shot 25 rounds light load at a trap field. Chamber did not open every single shot. It worked in favor of me as they require to catch the shells. I guess it is because without brake in with heavy loads. But the chamber did not even open half way...

    • @theshootersvalue107
      @theshootersvalue107  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I would definitely run a box or two or three of heavy loads through it to break it in. also just make sure you're lubricating it properly, and keep at it! mine shoots great now and I love this gun.

    • @ulsigu
      @ulsigu 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I now think it was due to loose cap. I went out to shoot Winchester steel shots from Walmart. It cycled perfect..

    You mentioned learning a different way to lube the Viper - can you please talk about that? I'm in the same situation with some FTEs after my first use and want to be sure I cleaned
    eoiled correctly if there is a precise way to do that. Thanks!

    If you’ve still got the Viper G2 Sport, I’d like to know if it’s still running, and how many rounds you’ve got through it. Or if you’re done with it, how many rounds until it quit or you moved on to another shotgun?

    • @Blur125
      @Blur125 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +The Shooters Value You mentioned you had some FTE, so I was curious. I usually clean the factory lube out of a new gun and re-oil just because factory lube tends to be thicker than oil. That and I like to get familiar with the gun. Thanks for the review - been looking for a cheap camo semi for duck season that I wouldn't mind banging around.

      +Kevin Vellanoweth I think I did, just didn't relube it properly maybe. Yeah this is a good gun! they also make some more hunting oriented versions that shoot 3.5 inch shells also. Maybe check those out too.

  • @mattthereverend1989

    those federal multi purpose are a higher dram equivalent and cleaner better shooting load than those estates. they will cycle all semi autos well for the most part.
    I think your firearm was not broken in yet when you were having issues

  • @l3LASTY

    I think it was maybe because of it not being broken in. I had the same problem with my Remington 870 it would hang up with federal a but after 200 shells, it loves them now that's all I buy is the federals! Gonna be getting the g2 viper sr sport sometime!

    • @theshootersvalue107
      @theshootersvalue107  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's an AWESOME gun! I love mine and I'm sure you will love yours! Just have to be patient and break it in and lube it properly and shouldn't have any problems.

    • @ronalddavis
      @ronalddavis ปีที่แล้ว

      its the case heads on the cheap winchester universal shells. they obturate more and stick to the chamber harder. depending on your chamber and tolerances you may or may not have a problem.
