*EDIT:* The Cheat Sheet and Written Guide have been updated for patch 3.22.1. The strategy in the video is still the best way to beat Trials, but the changes to Tribe leader AI make it significantly more difficult. If you're looking to farm at rank 2k, I strongly recommend making a dedicated build focusing on crowd control and capping Evasion/Spell Dodge/Block and Spell Block.

I tried this and they just ignored me and banished my totems faster than I could banish theirs.
Regarding the best units, sunset sage is also extremely strong in flanker role due to ranged banishing.
The trials are absurdly fun when you add in more people. I’ve helped one of my friends push up to 2k ranking, which is the max, and we frequently enough find 5div rewards. 2 players is a nice sweet spot, since you can both rush towards the back and start knocking out totems super quick. I’ve also managed to find the +1 proj tattoo twice so far, at sub 500 rank on one of my characters, but it seems like Ahuana has an affinity for losing her first round a lot, so it’s really difficult to get her as the final fight. She also just so happens to have given me the overall best rewards in general. Yesterday I found an Unnatural Instinct from her, as well as rolled a 16c reward to 1div, and I’ve found quite a few winged scarabs off her too. She’s been my jackpot almost every time lol
When playing in party only the instance owner gets a reward, right?

Tota 2k rating enjoyer here. Good vid overall and I also use the same attack strat where i go for defenders then work my way down flankers and problematic units. Ill share the strat that works for me.
Use a 4link void sphere(supports: increased aoe, second wind and increased duration) good for early matches and dealing with turtles and ravagers
Unit acquisition priorities: flankers>defenders>attackers. Imo any cheap unit can fill the attacker spot and i only use navali warriors to fill that spot till final round.
Best flanker combo for me is: goliath(stun immune and knockback)and sunsets. Jade hulks, jade shaman,trawlers, the 1500 utula warrior, camouflaged tuataras and riptides are amazing flankers as well.
For defense units: ravagers are best but also riptides are also suprisingly really good defenders for their long range hooks and can drag multiple units at a time.if you got extra favours, storm conduit is also a really good defender bcuz she has a large aoe skill that can teleport enemies away from your side. Saved me alot from some matches where i get overwhelmed with so many mobs rushing for my totems
Escort: best escort is storm guard. Prioritize getting him when you can bcuz his barrier blocks so many attacks especially when youre going for ramako and ikiaho tatoos. Also one of the best flankers if you got spare favours. One warcaller is also a great escort to have especially if youre build is slow. Speeds up your escorts and flankers which helps greatly with taking out totems if youre rushing towards defenders first. Double hinekora horn escorts is notable escort setup too if you die often for faster revives.
Interesting info i discoverd recently is that honourable warriors are suprisingly really quick and theyre faster than tuataras so they make for really good escort and flanker units if youre starting lineup is bad or youre starving for decent flankers

I'd recommend taking sunset mages over the thunderbirds as flankers. With there range they can channel over the field masters walls so enemy unit struggle to hit them and also totems with the chaos aura on them have no effect
thunderbirds die in 1 hit. they're trash, too unreliable
ok dont use sunset sages for this, After watching the video i tried going afk to keep Rakiata from getting knocked out and won while being afk the whole time at 800+ rating

there is this item that gives additional projectiles which is awesome on the Tidecaller giving tons of waves that interrupt enemies
Please make a video about Builds and Defences. What Abilities different Enemies do, what is the cooldown of those abilites. What Damage types, what type of defense you need to survive oneshots from them etc etc. Like for example you can survive death's oath with CI or lower its damage by half taking Lethe Shade. You can Spelldodge shots from Tidecaller including Wave. You also can spelldodge Firebreather explosion, but you CANT avoid Righeous Fire aura. In High Ranks that kills you under a Second even with 90 Fire Res and Ruby Flask.
I currently am sitting on 700+ rankings with a ward loop build (I haven't channeled a single totem cause i self-stun)
& i would like to point out that the " Sunset Sages " is the ONLY RANGED flankers; counters the chaos totems; imo is quite possibly the best
They also stun enemies while they are banishing totems they won’t get interrupted they are S tier for flank
This is, BY FAR, the best and most complete guide I've ever seem so far about TOTA. Nothing comes even close. It has, literally, everything you need to know to win, succeed and make currency.

They're not in the written guide quite yet - currently working on a section rating the warriors that will include that info - and hopefully a lot more!
The strategy is only good if you have a fast and squishy character with a lot dps, I tried with an RF build and it isn't effective, so I changed the strategy I put more efforts defending the totems (pretty tank can survive 99 % of the time all by myself) while the majority of units flanks and attack and it's working.
im playing a build with 95% evasion, 85% attack block, 75% spell block, 75% spell dodge and CI. then i have ballista totems with ensaring arrow, cull, chance to flee, void sphere as cc for enemy team, and i just run to their strongest units totem and destroy it

gladiator, for the 10% extra max block chance. but i think pathfinder wouldve been really good aswell to enable flasks, cuz rn i cant use any
Im playing it as raider for easy access to spell suppression,onslaught and phasing
@@muckaboi2351 idk about that. i easily have 75% spell dodge just from the tree, onslaught and phasing you could have permanently from flasks through pathfinder

Sunset Sages are THE best flankers after Fieldmasters. Thunderbirds are actually surprisingly viable as defenders.
Sunset Sage can banish totems in range , great in tandem with Fieldmasters and hard counter against Death Sages(has chaos damage aura on her totem)
and as for my strategy , rush to get fieldmasters , always get fieldmasters
I agree, matches when I somehow don't get a field master are always hard and sometimes I lose. I shoot for 3 of them, 2 Flanders paired with bird or sunset, and 1 escort.
Exactly! Sunset Sages with Fieldmasters is my go-to combo and it stomps the enemies almost always.

However, sunset sage and jade hulk are both amazing flankers, that is probably their optimal position.
I would also have liked to know whether or not there are ways to know which enemy teams are going to be potentially strong or not. Some say that the higher the reward, the more likely it will be hard, but that could just be confirmation bias so .... cannot find any information on this :S
Thanks for the video, lots of useful stuff ))) Can you please tell me how to prioritize filling positions? In the first round I personally first completely fill flankers, put 1 defender and 1 attacker. And then I try to fill defenders and attackers and lastly - my escort. Probably you have some better strat on your mind? I'm currently at 1000 ranking with Hexblast miner (not very well equipped). Mostly I win but sometimes (maybe it's a minion AI issue) i lose almost immediately and from the second try I win very fast. So I just can't understand where these defeats come from. And sometimes my units just don't manage to get into enemy's flank or just don't channel the totems... I don't know if it's an AI issue or just my bad understanding of strategy. Thank you!
For rounds 1 and 2, before you have a chance to get really good units, I *mostly* just try to put units where they're best, with an eye towards filling up flankers.
While doing this, I try to cap it at (at most) 1 defender and 1 attacker. So if I start with an Honoured Sage, that's on Defense, and if I have a second, that's on Escort.
Anything that's even remotely capable of Flanking goes in the flanking slot, and I usually like to put an Honoured Warrior on Attacker just to buy me a *bit* of time.
The risk of losing in the first round should be pretty low, unless you're *immediately* dying without getting a chance to banish ANY totems. And this should be less of a risk in early rounds, with (generally) very few enemy units, and huge gaps in where they place their totems.

EA Ballistas has served me VERY well! The Ballistas can distract enemy Warriors, which can help buy time or help you banish Totems.
Because many aspects of your build just don't matter (dps, tankiness) at higher rankings, all that really matters is utility: movespeed, ability to distract enemies, knockback and slow.
I suspect we'll see purpose-built builds developed over the course of the league - I'm personally very curious to see how Aurabot characters are doing in TotA!

@@miramichi30 I'm playing a curse bot with currently 300k armour, transcendence, 100% phys taken as ele conversion and a 6 link void sphere, it's going pretty well so far but I'm only at 1,1k rating.

Sun Sage is a suuuper flanker as well :| Also the unique necklase from Hinekora tribe is insane and super nice
Defiance of Destiny isn't a Tribe reward from the Hinekora Tribe - it's a Tournament reward available from Hinekora herself from winning a Tournament.
The Hinekora Tribe unique is Tawhanuku's Timing, which is less nice.
Missing round 1 gameplay. How to position your 3-4 units, which one where and how to play. At one point I couldnt just win the first matches
dude, how do you keep ahuana till the end or tournament? she often dissapears after round 4 and even if i get her to round 5 it leaves after 1 my win
Someone commented on another video that once you hit rank 200,, you'll see about as big of rewards as you will ever see with only a couple of exceptions, so there's no use going past rank 200. I haven't tested this myself yet.

Yea reward stacks go way up past 500 in my experience. You will get massive streaks of shit luck then boom. Hinekoras final omens will also prop up your profits.
Sunset Sage is actually best as support.

Also, noticed that losing at lower rounds makes the rewards worse. I am at 900 ranking and it's becoming too hard. If I lose a lot of rounds, my overall loot gets worse. This includes worse and smaller stacks od currency and 1 fusing uniques. My idea is to lower my rank to 400 ish and see the difference. I like your video, it s really informative.

Is shockwave totems build good for tota?
There was a nerf to knockback regarding opponent Warriors for TotA, and more recently (yesterday's patch) removed knockback on walls that opponents place. Still, the totems can taunt enemies away from you and the totems can dish out some good damage.
It doesn't work for me, the enemies destroy my defenses and I lose fast

Hinekora's Lock is a tournament reward, NOT a match reward from the Hinekora tribe.

Hinekora's Lock isn't a reward from the Hinekora tribe - it's a tournament victory reward.

stun...and then frozen then one shot from off screen. while trying to get the defender totems....not to mention ALL defenders suck even though they are in the right position = game over. still cant get past the first set of battles. and another league that craps on melee builds. Still cant get past the first set of rounds.

Dunno, Im at 450 and rewards are still laughable and games not enjoyable at all. Through the climb I had maybe 2-3 divines in rewards plus some tatoos for extra 2 divs. Thats awful money per hour ratio

The rewards part is correct, but this strategy to win is very bad.
Does not work what you describe here... these stupid mobs are all taunt resistant and freaking unbalanced high defence and resistances. In my opinion the worst season since 5 years. It sucks so hard.

I appreciate trying to create suspense, but I think you should hold back on using words like incredibly and massively with every sentence.
god i despise these kinds of degenerate strats, and when i say that i mean no offense to you, you're probably right about it being the strongest way and thats what a guide should show, but it's like in hearthstone playing "go face" decks utterly abandoning so much of the substance for a SMOrc race instead. I hate the gameplay if this is what it's boiling down to
I agree - and I suspect that's why TotA isn't going core - it's a mechanic that practically demands players cheese it somehow.
Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if the mechanic returns in PoE2, and works better there, in a game more focused on moment-to-moment combat and with drastically reduced player power.

You talk too slow. I had to watch the video at 1.25 speed but later i changed it to 1.5

these are terrible tactics and only work with minion builds which you definitely did not explain well enough. bad advertising, bad video
Edit: after further testing theese tactics proved even more useless when not playing a minion build. with minion build it works, but every tactics work in the trials with a minion build. down with content creators who have no idea!
is this guide and cheat sheet still good with the new patch or have things changed?
The strategy is still the winning strategy, but the changes to the leader AI in the patch have just made it a bit more difficult to pull off for non-specialized builds.
Other than that, the cheat sheet is a bit out of date with economy changes, but there's an up-to-date version in the written guide! (I'll be updating the one in the description and the comments later).
Whats the point to play it in party ? Usually second dude don't get anything at all, and when he do it's completely random
