What are your thoughts on Rome? Because it is so popular were a little apprehensive about going, but I am so glad that we did! However, I can't imagine what it is like to go during the summer time when it is packed. Have you been?

I believe the month of august most Italians take their vacation and you my find some business close i have been in Rome many times my brother home at the moment is Rome i suggest that you try some restaurants of the tourist area also keep in mind some restaurant charge an extra fee for eating inside their business remember always to keep any purchase receipts when buying anything at a business some time the minister finance have undercover agents and they will ask where is your purchase receipts and if you don't have they will issue a find that is because the government want business not to cheat on their tax Rome is beautiful

Dear American, who constantly complains, if you stop at the first pizzeria you come across, you can't complain about not seeing a romantic environment, etc.etc. if you don't look for it. You haven't understood that to get to know Rome, months or years are not enough, often not even a lifetime, to truly get to know Rome. Wake up and abandon the stereotypes you have formed.

I was there for my honeymoon and Italy was special! My favorite pizza experience was in Salerno, closer to Naples. It was exactly as you described your dream about eating your first pizza in Italy. But the food was amazing almost everywhere! Enjoy. 🥰

Ahhhhhh!!! 🙌🏼 This takes me back to 2019! My dad passed away 3 years before that (age 59) and our family was left heartbroken. It reminded me again, that life is short. So I asked my mom if there was a place in the world, anywhere, that she would want to go to, where would it be?? Rome, she said. So I gathered my 2 sisters, I planned the ENTIRE trip, we ALL pitched in & flew mom out for her 60th bday… 🥺 just us girls. It was one of THE best trips we’ve EVER done.
-p.s. We were told to NOT eat in touristic places, instead venture a little outwards and you’ll find the best authentic foods. 🤗

The most underrated city I haver ever been. I had been told this was an overrated city so I went with low expectations and I was truly impressed. Beautiful monuments, historic landmarks and architecture, great and affordable food and wine, the vatican, trastevere neighborhood. It is worthy just to walk the streets, magical city. ❤

Me, too. I almost didn't go because I thought it would be a disappointment. I only scheduled four days there, and was so sorry to leave. I returned the next year and spent 8 days. Now I want to go back for a few weeks and take Italian classes. It is an amazing, amazing city.

I just came home from Rome, Italy. & Ireland. I was blown away by the absolute beauty of the city. I stayed in an Air BnB 1 Block from the Colosseum on Via Dei SS. Quattro Street. We had a direct line of site view to it. Every night I would walk out my door and just stare at the Colosseum lit up. I still feel like it was all a dream. I’m already trying to plan my next visit.

So funny my first experience in Italy (stopped at a little restaurant off the autobahn out of Switzerland & woman came in stood at the counter tapping her foot a mile a minute, ordered an espresso swung it back & took off, lol), seeing most just get a drink & panini to go & a few eating in but most quickly, (the restaurants by the see were much slower paced)

You should go to La Casa del Caffè Tazza d'Oro and try a Granita. It is right by the Pantheon. Also by the Pantheon is another great coffee place called Sant' Eustachio Il Caffè and a really good Gellateria right across from them called Gunther Gelato Italiano - Gelateria in Piazza Sant'Eustachio

Rome is great, Florence is on another level. Hope you get to visit! I personally thought the pasta and pizza was so so in Italy, but that is a matter of personal preferences. I did however find the most amazing lasagna in Florence right out of the train station. A small restaurant there. I even licked the plate, if you know how crass that is for Europeans, then you will know how good it was. But overall, I loved Rome. The people, the historical attractions, etc, were all great. As you said, it's underrated. Enjoy!

I loved exploring Rome by motorbike 20 years ago and yes it should be on everyone’s bucket list. I think I keep hearing you say Pisa. I may be too late in telling you that it’s a disappointment BUT the next town over, Lucca is like a mini-Rome with few tourists…it’s a very old, romantic, walled town full of great architecture, churches from medieval times and romantic squares. Plus, in general, people from the USA DON’T KNOW IT EXISTS.
On two separate trips to Tuscany, Lucca was our home base.
Back to Rome: the food is a little overrated in the touristy areas.
And the Vatican is spectacular (including the museum)

"This is not how I imagined our first experience of pizza in Italy would go" (shows some tourist trap). Well, why go to toyristy areas then? Go do your sight-seeing, but for the pizza and other authentic experiences, go where locals go.

Rome is full of history, of course Is not overrated BUT visiting for taking photos, visiting the stereotypical and instagrameable places just visiting for "hey I was here" and not for enjoying it's totally awful. I'd love visiting Vatican for all history involved in and taking pics FOR ME to remember, after enjoying. 🖤 Atemporal places never overrated if you're there for enjoying. Enjoy guys!!!

Rome is my favorite city. The people, the food, the cars, the buildings, culture and history are so unique in a very good way. I hope you get the chance to visit more of Italy like Florence, Milan and Venice. I wish I had taken video when I went there and not just pictures, great excuse to go back. The entire country is unreal. Side note, I was just in Paris for the first time and I have to say I was super impressed also. I think it's to most visited city in the world and now I know why. I did upload a video on my channel in case you're interested in seeing my experience on day 1 (it's in Spanish though and my edits are not pro like yours).
