italian here. I don't add sugar in espresso nor any other form of coffee. I cosider the world as divided in 2 groups, those who put sugar in their coffee and those who don't. Italy is full of historical monuments, it is truly a beautiful country!
Italy is mainly divided into three parts (North, Center, South), and each part has different cultural customs and pace of life!
I love their holiday bazaar, I always find fresh and cheap food and great merchandise!
I also helped pick olives in Italy, which was the best memory in my life!
It’s really special to see you using chopsticks to eat in Italy, haha!

When I saw you remembered to scan the train ticket before boarding it reminded me of one very painful experience many years ago when I was travelling from Assisi to Florence. I forgot to scan the ticket first before jumping on the train. Then when someone came to check the tickets I ended up being charged an additional 50 Euros just for that. I will never ever forget that experience. Until this date I still cannot figure out what is the exact reason that people need to "scan" (so-called "validate") their train tickets first before boarding? To me that is a totally unnecessary thing. What do you all think, especially Italian folks? Please let me know.

Also, the canonical lunch time is at 12 but today many office workers go at 13:00. You are allowed 1 glass of wine at lunch, you have to wait 17 (5 pm) for it if you are a worker. But for a tourist, get the best of it, have more wine at lunch and enjoy the bellavita.

The issue you are experiencing with the GoPro is due to the frequency of the electrical grid in Europe. In those regions, the frequency is 50Hz, whereas in the USA, it is 60Hz. Old neon lights operate at the grid frequency, causing a dissonance with the GoPro. You should check the camera settings to see if there is an option related to flickering and adjust it from 60Hz to 50Hz.

Hi, Nick, in Italy you can always go in a "salumeria" and ask for a "panino with..." You can put in mozzarella, cheese, ham, all that you see in front of you often they have also handmade food like eggplants under oil and other things. Then there are backery shops like "Panetteria" o "Forno" here you can have bread but also focacce, pizzette, torte salate and much more. Around at 10.00 o'clock you can find street food like crocche', arancine, pizza fritta and more, it depends on the place you are. "Pasticceria" is a shop where you can get only sweet food handmade. So, if you need to eat before h. 13.00 you can fix very well (no bacon and eggs, thins is true; you can have it only in few hotels' breakfast). P.S. In North Italy people usually eat around h. 12.30; in the middle of Italy around h. 13.00; in the South around 13.30 / 14.00. In general, only _restourants_ and _tavole calde_ and _trattorie_ open arond h.12.30/13.00. P.S. Italians usually don't eats tramezzini (sandwiches) better don't eat them in Italy: there is a lot of more traditional food to taste. Hope you all return soon to Italy . Bye

Sugar on your coffee is not mandatory,
Actually if you will have it with no sugar,
You can appreciate more the coffee bean.
Also you can cheat for a bite if you have either an "aperitivo"

You can eat lunch whenever you want in the 11-14 window, most of people just have the work shift at 13.
Also, add sugar in the coffee if you prefer it that way, many Italians do it don't worry, who tell you "you must drink it without sugar!!" is lying. People tend to be strongly purist about coffee, but in reality you can do whatever you want...maybe follow their advice at first, but feel free to adjust to your taste.
You did good by staying in a small city btw, best Italy is outside major cities. Cheers
