  • Sometimes simple is best. In this woodturning video the turning project is one of the best selling projects at the craft show. Woodturning a vase is one of the easiest projects to do and they can be top seller's at a craft show. This one is a small twig pot made from a cherry branch. I sanded it to 400 grit and finished it with friction polish. These are very easy wood turning projects and they sell great at craft shows. Don't forget the little details. They can make all the difference.
    Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoy this new woodturning video.

    When you make your finishing polish do you use shellac chips or do you use liquid shellac?

    • @RcWoodturning
      @RcWoodturning  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I've been using the liquid in the can from a hardware store. I use it straight out of the can and just add a little finish oil to it.

    Good looking piece, did you use bees wax to seal the wood before you applied the friction polish?

    • @RcWoodturning
      @RcWoodturning  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      That's interesting. I don't know if the finish would adhere to the wax surface. If the wood is really dry I will coat the surface with the shellac finish and let it dry. Then add the final finish after.

    do you make your own sanding sealer? recipe?

      @RcWoodturning  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@dirkfanning2053 yes, I use shellac mixed with a small amount of finishing oil. I will be doing a video about it coming soon.

      It's a small vase. Most call it a twig pot for dry flowers.

    What type of wire do you use for the burn lines?

    • @RcWoodturning
      @RcWoodturning  26 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      This one is bailing wire. I also use mig welding wire for thinner lines.

      @@markbecker8661 Thank you I appreciate that! You can make it yourself. Just get a can of shellac at the hardware store and add some finish oil. I don't have measurements. I fill the bottle I have and add about an ounce of finish oil. My guess is a 12 oz container would be 11 ozs of shellac and 1 oz of finish oil. The oil is basically lubricant so the shellac doesn't get sticky during the friction of drying. Apply it like I do until your fingers get warm and your done.
