251 Interventions in 30 Years: A System Addicted to War w/ Ben Norton

  • The United States has acknowledged almost 500 military interventions, listed in detail in a report by congressional researchers. More than 200 were just in the last 31 years, since the fall of the Soviet Union, representing a significant increase over the hundreds of years prior. What does this explain about the nature of capitalism, war, and imperialism?
Brian is joined by Ben Norton, an investigative journalist based in Latin America, and editor of the independent news website Multipolarista, which you can find at multipolarista.com.
Ben’s article that Ben and Brian discuss is here on his website: multipolarista.com/2022/09/13....

Foucault's boomerang: the tactics and institutions used to expand, enforce, and consolidate control over colonial empires will inevitably be brought back to the imperial metropole and implemented domestically in order to address its internal contradictions and advance ruling class interests. The fascist police state in the colonies becomes the model for the fascist police state at home whenever capitalism inevitably enters into a status of crisis and decay.

Besides it's very hard to oversee someone in a system where every step costs money, so everyone needs money. And so relatively not rich people kinda oversee extremely rich people on behalf of the poor majority... I can't imagine that being calm and stable. It's more like sitting on the back of a tiger. Public opinion has the capacity to impact. It certainly didn't with the war on Iraq. We saw the largest demonstrations across cities in the world. It made no difference. Perhaps its not public opinion, perhaps its large scale public uprising that needs to be economically and socially disruptive to have impact.

He said the Marshall Plan is a crazy idea of the Democrats. He said the best way to revitalize the economy is war. And that the United States has grown stronger with war.
    Stone: War, he said that?
Kirchner: He said that. Those were his exact words.
Stone: Is he suggesting that South America go to war?
Kirchner: Well, he was talking about the United States: ‘The Democrats had been wrong. All of the economic growth of the United States has been encouraged by wars.’ He said it very clearly. ‘

The masses just keep choosing sadistic catharsis- football wins or Ukraine winning a war. We need to be asking the “WHAT DOES THAT DO FOR YOU?”
I feel we can put a little hold on our usual- geopolitics & economics JUST to confront the irrationality, catharsis seeking, and contentness of the non-rich classes!
We have to leave them but NO CHOICE to confront the source of their misery- capitalism. That means confronting their drinking and sports fanaticism, their escapism and opium.

That's why there is no democracy as long as money is not under Democratic control. (Controlled by the people)

31:02 Taiwan "A ilha Formosa" first was colonized by the Portuguese in 1500 hundreds but we only made a comercial Emporium. Not nothing abnormal like the Americans!( and Macau) the English( Americans 0.1) took Hong-Kong ask the chinese who treat them better?
35:03 Hawaii? Also the Portuguese!!! ask them the same... as all american possessions! Ask the people if they prefer the actual leadership from the USA or the Medieval colonial leadership from the Europeans! Certainly they will not mention the actual "owner"! Just pick one like the Marshal Islands( if there's someone from out there please give us your opinion/comment/stance thank you! Obrigado!

    - This is Putin, without a doubt.
    - Why do you think so?
    - Elementary, Watson - if not for him, would we blow them up?" 😂😂😂
