  • In this episode I show my Redcat Racing Blackout SC & Arrma Senton 4x4 Mega and decide which I like best.
I've had the Blackout for a while and the Senton is brand new so I go into a little more detail about it as well as do a speed comparison and a track run on the Senton.

So big Redcat and Aarma fan sweet I’m liking Redcat a lot more thinking of next summer getting my son a blackout as well he has a slash but parts are so much cheaper.

Blackout is cool for what it is, much smaller than a slash.

@@bigbristv yea I can tell I would love to have one for back up that’s why I like my sunfire buggy cause parts for Redcat are so much cheaper I haven’t even gotten to run my Aarma senton 2x4 yet I actually changed out another project for that so I could run the other project.

I would get a black out eventually cause think about it there getting smaller and parts for Redcat are so much cheaper you could have a back up your main race truck brakes and you could run for even days maybe even months with parts from Redcat I think that’s what there going for smaller and more affordable race parts just order a head of time and if your local shop carries redcat and what you got your good.

Nice video, and the Senton is a blast. Me and my girlfriend both have one and they are fun. Very quick even in stock form on 100% setting and NiMH battery. I'm with you on two things, I haven't tried LiPo's yet due to safety concerns and the fact we have a pet Cockatoo my girlfriend has had for 34 years, and we sometimes have to leave him at home alone, so no LiPo until we have a system to properly store them, so it doesn't put our baby at risk. Anyways, the other thing was the modular design you pointed out. Several of the Arrma vehicles share the same (LWB) chassis and many parts. Converting it into something else isn't hard at all. Easy to work on and maintain too. I was surprised you only got 15 mph I think I saw on one speed run. But then, you pointed out the GPS thing, yeah, overpass may have been blocking some of the signal/satellites and causing speed errors. I use the phone method too, the rear bumper I've found is perfect for holding a phone on the top of it, then securing it with a rubber band doubled up and wrapped around the phone and bumper. I've done speed tests on dirt roads and also dirt oval racing and phone doesn't budge. We get 21 mph on ours in stock 17/91 gearing with NiMH battery. You mentioned the 27T gear, that should put you up around 30+ easy. I was looking at getting a 29T pinion as the speed calculator app says that should enable it to do 35 mph with stock 91T spur gear. Hopefully nothing flies apart if I do decide to try it. lol

I think it's worth trying the gear increase to see what she can do. As far as the lipo situation, once I realized that it kinda forces you to be more responsible (you sound responsible already, especially about your baby 😉) so you are the perfect candidate for lipos. I don't risk it when a batterybseems damaged even, I just replace it. Now I have a ton of lipo batteries laying around (in a lipo safe, of course).
Thanks for the comment, and keep having fun you two!

@@bigbristv that's what I need to do, get a safe to store them in, lol.

@Destin65 lipo safes. I have the ones that hold 1-2 batteries (DerBlue 2pcs Fireproof... www.amazon.com/dp/B01GCHBQJS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) and a big one that holds everything. (Zeee Fireproof Explosionproof... www.amazon.com/dp/B07KZQZBN2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) They're pretty cheap, too.
