Furiosa kicked ass, don't think they got the color grading quite right but I didn't mind the CGI at all. Dune 2 on the other hand had some flyover CG shots in the 3rd act that looked like they were 30 years behind the modern standard.
I talk about volume in my main comment "the volume" was used to redo scenes 20x because they had no script and changed their mind all the time, BW is when things got really out of hand on that front and it only got worse after it
ONE Volume (giant 360deg green screen) and the advances in 3d rendering gave bad writers the occasion to change story and remake scenes at the last minute, they abuse this forgetting rendering time takes many hours remaking until there's no rendering time left forcing a CGI downgrade TWO real 4K rendering takes months or years so they end up making moving in 2K or less and then upscale it really badly, for some reason they are unable to do as good upscaling than "simple" LG tv most cgi-filled "4k" movies actually look sharper in 1080p upscaled by an lg oled tv than their 4k version THREE digital storage costs very little, which is why we constantly have 150min movies now this made directors and writers even lazier and unable to condense a story in a proper time, outside CGI if you want a good example of "way too long" scenes John Wick 4 he has 3min to climb stairs 15min later he's still on them...just no the nunchaku scene, the dragon breath shotgun scene the same what should have been a 30s scene becomes 5 minutes, on the cgi side it means again more rendering time
the lack of good writers (there's a reason why and it's described in 3 letters) explains most of the bad cgi, did you know since ant-man marvel actors almost never wear real clothes when filming ? even their town clothes are CGI draining rendering time for no good reason, the reason is "they haven't decided yet what they should wear" I'm not joking that's real I saw it in a documentary, for the same reason the next captain falcon america cost hundreds of millions, from a leak we know the main actor was enraged after filming scenes for several days without a script "we haven't written the story yet" he was informed, they film random action or dialog scenes then paste them on a timeline and try to make a movie out of it, re-watch "last skywalker" knowing this and it will become very obvious
One of the many great things about the John Wick series is the tasteful use of CGI. So sad that all the sequels you mention, like Indiana Jones, MI, Furiosa, Gladiator II, look so much worse that the originals.
CGI altogether is ruining action movies. You know it’s computer generated so there is no threat or danger. Bring back practical effects and stuntmen risking their freaking lives for the sake of our entertainment!!!!

Yeah Dune 2 definitely had some spotty GCI
Black Widow also comes to mind. Absolutely terrible work.

Am I crazy because the CGI doesn't even look that bad to me. I guess my tolerance for CGI is just high.
@@mommayp8353 if you compare the CGI in Transformers 2007 and Dead Man’s Chest to what we have now, it has regressed

It's embarrassing on their part. Not sure how your movie franchise looks so much worse 40 years later

@@BrenTenn absolutely! Funny how they had The Fall Guy come out this year to honor stuntmen, yet most action movies don’t use them much anymore
@ that is hilarious 😆
hey now, CGI can look great in action movies, just look at Kung Fu Panda...
Hahaha exactly!
