I'm always shocked at how nobody mentions resale value of EVs. Nobody will even pay 30% of the original cost for an EV. Factor that in, and EVs defeat their own purpose of being environment friendly. ICE will easily last 20 years will good care.
Even if you keep the ev the battery life reduces after years of use and vehicle will need new batter which is 90% of the cost thats why noone wants used evs
I can bet that ola's or Ather's build quality is not better than activa. They might use better quality plastics but in terms of build quality activa still has the upper hand.
Yeah build of ola is not upto activa but its repair is very cheap bcs it has plastic panels.. Bs 30 min mein change although mera kabhi accident nhi hua by gods grace

Yes it ofcourse amazing, and great if you wanna save Money but sadly, the practicality of EV SCOOTERS is really an issue, as their load carrying capacity is VERY LESS when compared to Petrol Scooty... It is NEVER AN ISSUE WITH EV CARS by the way. The speed and Performance and range depletes a lot when 3 people are on the Scooty or when the load is very heavy Mene dekha hai, people even go 150+KM on a Petrol scooty and with a lot of load. EV SCOOTYS NEED EVEN MORE HIGH CAPACITY BATTERIES AND EVEN HIGH POWERED MOTORS TO match the practicality of Petrol Scooty.

As an Electric Vehicle Engineer, I suggest charge your battery only after draining to less than 20% and charge it until 80%. Every battery is designed for a fixed number of charging cycles. Each charging and discharging will consume 1 cycle of battery life. Therefore drain your EV battery completely before charging
these electric scooter companies are raising price af. ather 450x is at 1.8lakh in my town and highest end with all features is 2lakh. also any repair or damage costs will cost u another bang. i really wanted to buy electric scooter but went for petrol.
EV Bikes are not suited for Indian climating conditions, since these scooters are exposed to dust, heat & rain. Battery has to be replaced every 5 - 7 yrs & that cost equals to a ICE scooter, adding to this is risk of catching Fire is always there.
everything is all good but even after 1 lakh kilometers done the range / milage of an IC engine won't be as bad as an EV and at that time the battery will cost around a lakh to replace so the goods are not as good to make the switch now. even the EV will be much more valuable now after replace the battery the problems will start to arise and the coverage of the company will be gone too

I tried my Ola scooter.... The OLA just dosen't feel right in hands.... control, balance, Grip, is totally off. I don't feel confident riding an electric scooter compared to an petrol one. Maybe with time they will improve their body structure as well.
Recently saw a reddit post where a student was getting late for college, but got a software update on his ola scooter, and he was unable to start or cancel the update.
I really considered buying Ola s1 pro few months back but stopped due to following reasons (correct me if im wrong) - Very bad Service - Battery replacement cost is high. Even if it offers warranty since the service centre are sloths it doesn't help. - really struggle in uphill climb - Takes charging time instead of seconds filling in petrol ones - Even though it saves money in short term due to low charging money, in long term its nearly same as petrol scooters - new and unfamiliar, cant go repair to any shops like in petrol ones. - Weak body frame
Its important to state the terms and conditions of the 8years warranty on battery by OLA. Its basically for 80k kms or 8 years. So depending on your commute, it is covered maybe for 8 years only if you ride 30 km a day, everyday for the year = 11kms per year. Not bad though, just stating.
For all those mentioning sponsored, I'll suggest watch this from a objective lens. It answers very serious question of even considering an EV in the first place, pros and cons etc. I have lots of questions and resistance to buy EV vehicle, but this can a step in the direction where one can atleast decide what their next 2 wheeler can be.

And about the reliability, my area faced severe water logging and floods 6 months ago. My old activa 125 was affected but since the parts are easily available, the scooter was fixed easily at a good cost. Ola and ather on the other hand if get affected by the water will cost a lot more and will be harder to fix.
Electric if- 1st 2 wheeler or Daily use of more than 20km or Solar panel is installed at home or Only charging at home Petrol if- Already own a 2 wheeler Not using daily living in a remote location For outstation trips My 16 year old bike still gives me at least 60kmpl and runs smoothly. I spend barely 2000 a year on petrol. No point getting an electric other than to enjoy the feel.
Yes waiting for a real life user comparison of EVs. Which is the best? If you can please include the bikes and the not so popular but good vehicles / brands too. Thanks.
Nice video! Good to see your channel covering more than just phones. Personally, ev still needs to mature so I don't see myself buying one for the next 5 years. After that, definitely planning to make the switch.
It would have been much better if you had covered battery replacement cost under warranty and without warranty. That cost also needs to be considered when we are comparing ICE with EV to find out average cost per km
Try calling a mechanic when your ev doesn't work. I'm sure after hearing answers from them you will surely call the towing company because no matter what software it uses or how advanced tech it has still petrol are scooters are way ahead. Because of reliability, service availability, fuel pumps everywhere, even a mechanic on call would tell you how to fix it and you are good to go... Above all they don't catch fire 😂😂
The days were gone when Tech Wiser was honest and not into paid baiting his subscribers into buying something which is not that good as shown in the video.
Literally me watching this video mid road with my Ola Stuck in the middle of the road due to its software issue (Found this while searching For "How to fix this thing"):
you didn't do a cost comparison overall including battery replacement of EVs which cost 50% of the scooter price and the Petrol Scooties with servicing costs and replacement costs over the same period. How much does an user spend, what is the actual saving they get in EV even after battery replacement....that is the main deal for an ordinary customer. Otherwise an one time 70-80k replacement cost even after 5 yrs of usage hits hard to a middle class consumer. Also EVs have cons like rainy season time or flood time they can get damaged. They are not meant for intercity travel etc. Often OLA scooters are catching up fire which is a big safety issue. Cover all the neagtive aspects of Evs also instead of promoting just good sides
There is a hand brake in every petrol scooties nowadays..so if we there in slope..we apply handbrake & voala. We don't go for servicing every 3months. Talking about subsidies once people start buying ev slowly subsidies will go away.. Lastly we are still dependent on non renewable source of energy like coal for electricity so EV is not clean.
I've spent a lot of time watching dozens of videos and reading countless comments about the comparison between Ola and TVS iQube electric scooters. From what I've gathered, Ola users seem to be facing a lot of issues with their scooters, ranging from poor service to quality concerns. On the other hand, TVS iQube owners appear to be very happy and satisfied, with no significant problems reported. As an interior designer, I need a reliable scooter for visiting my projects within the city. I was initially drawn to Ola because of its energetic appeal and modern design. However, after seeing all the negative reviews and the frequent issues reported by users, I've reconsidered my choice. I believe it's better to go with TVS iQube. It may not have the same flashy appeal as Ola, but its reliability and the positive feedback from current owners make it a more sensible choice for my needs. After all, having a dependable scooter is crucial for my work and peace of mind.
Three things... First even the latest Ntorq and the Dio get the side stand warning (where the engines don't start till u put up the stand) secondly idk bout other scooters but the Dio doesn't get the kickstart because the new scooters don't need kickstart. Third... New scooters are getting keyless entry like cars where u just unlock thru the key and u can start the scooter without putting it in.(it uses proximity sensor )
What if my scooter has a law battery and my phone is switched off? A)how would I start scooter? B)how would I search nearby charging stations ? C) with Activa I can fill petrol and sign off very fast 😂 but how would i sign off that fast with an ola scooter? D) Activa is highly durable and long lasting as per millions of customers but with ola scooter I will have a fear of burning it spontaneously.

Tbh In start you will face prblm with electric scooters as they are new in the 2w market but there are a lot of benefits... I have been riding ola s1 for 2 years small-small issues were there which come in every scooter but in terms of savings and experience it's too good compared to petrol scooter now I can never think of going back to petrol scooter.
Small issues came in every vehicle but exp of riding ev is best over it
My father also enjoys riding his s1 and he's so happy that he saved ₹25k of petrol
We are so habitual with petrol vehicles that switching to electric seems so difficult but trust me ev are better and I really love to ride my s1 air
💯 , I will never switch back to petrol
True bro, even my family felt awkward to drive my ola initially but they are now loving ev more than our old petrol scooter.
Do more EV coverage, let’s go.
Real problem is after 5 years you need new batteries and that is 40,000 Rs. I
Fun fact! Activa also has hill hold! You can activate it by pressing the rear brake lever all the way and pulling up the small lever behind it, and release the brake. Press the brake all the way and it will release.
These guys are noobies
I'm always shocked at how nobody mentions resale value of EVs. Nobody will even pay 30% of the original cost for an EV. Factor that in, and EVs defeat their own purpose of being environment friendly. ICE will easily last 20 years will good care.
Even if you keep the ev the battery life reduces after years of use and vehicle will need new batter which is 90% of the cost thats why noone wants used evs
I have a 13 year old activa still runs good no ev ever will work that long
@@sonudhami8217 Yeah and the EVs also charge subscription fees which can be increased whenever they please and you're stuck with it. Rich people toys.
I'm going to buy ev at 30% price🤭🤭
@@thinktank4070😂😂😂awesome bro🎉
I can bet that ola's or Ather's build quality is not better than activa. They might use better quality plastics but in terms of build quality activa still has the upper hand.
I own an ather and at 10k km and a total of 3 crashes and it still is not having any rattling noise and all. Having really good time with it.
😂😂buy a ather and you will know
Yeah build of ola is not upto activa but its repair is very cheap bcs it has plastic panels.. Bs 30 min mein change although mera kabhi accident nhi hua by gods grace
Of course there is no competition for the build quality of ice only bajaj can match it
i have both ola and activa and build quality of ola if preety good and it handles itself pretty well at high speeds of more than 80.I would never try to drive my activa at more than 60kmph.

How do they compare?
Any reason for changing to Ola from ather?
Which is better 😊
Correction:
Warranty will be entertained below 70% capacity, not 80%
And 70% is quite less. Once a battery reaches soh below 70%, it degrades even faster.
Next, you don't need to kick the new activas anymore. They've upgraded them with fuel injected systems and do not cause issues in cold start.
These guys are just exaggerating the electric scooters, batteries will be expensive and as you said batteries will degrade faster.
@@Infoelan-hr2lz spare parts are expensive and nobody is talking about motor replacement cost
@@John-re9wz Motor replacement is vary rare situation, I have used two average quality 2000W electric scooters back in 2016 - 2020, I did more than 40,000 KM on each and even after I sold those I was in contact with the buyers and none of the those had motor changes or issues even with the hall sensors. The reason I sold was due to battery issues (Lead acid), One of those biks are now upgraded to 50ah Lion with fast charging and it is being heavily used.
I am in Sri Lanka and the electric bike prices are really high thesedays but my understanding is if you have a solar system at home, this is the cheapest method of transportation. 3-4 years of use will help you save the cost of the bike.
Take Care.
The other day i wasn't able to watch Techwiser's video on YT. I thought there's something wrong with my YT. Then i realised i enable Ad skip and sponsered skip option. 😅
EVs with battery swap like Gogoro can save charging time and solve range anxiety.
probably but how many people are willing to swap their brand new battery for small probablity that the new swapped battery will be a lot older
and with different aged battery your range will also differ so planning will become more tough
I thibk there should be 2 companies involved... 1 is ev vehicle manufacturer & 2nd is only battery manufacturer. Give a deposit amt for battery to battery manufacturer & keep swapping from same company. @@pinakinayak5278
You forgot the main issue!
The batter gets stolen, happened twice with me.
Just bought my Ola S1X +
Trust me it's just amazing
Yes it ofcourse amazing, and great if you wanna save Money
but sadly, the practicality of EV SCOOTERS is really an issue, as their load carrying capacity is VERY LESS when compared to Petrol Scooty... It is NEVER AN ISSUE WITH EV CARS by the way.
The speed and Performance and range depletes a lot when 3 people are on the Scooty or when the load is very heavy
Mene dekha hai, people even go 150+KM on a Petrol scooty and with a lot of load.
EV SCOOTYS NEED EVEN MORE HIGH CAPACITY BATTERIES AND EVEN HIGH POWERED MOTORS TO match the practicality of Petrol Scooty.
@@YoungAtharva the power output of ev is unmatched (for my ola s1 atleast) yeah but the range drop due to load is high. (not an issue for me bcs i use for city rides)
@@aapkonkahalagayafon2270 vahi bol rha hoon mere Bhai, City Rides k liye EVs are best!

Well done brother.
I would like all EV review channel to add a section where they discuss range in different seasons and affect on battery in different seasons
you didnt mention insurance costs which are much higher than a normal scooter, almost 6k per year which basically offsets all savings gains made
It's the best time to buy EV because future will be electric only
This is the exact reason not to buying an EV now. Because in future it will become more stable, effective and safe.
It's very informative. Try to cover which EV was better to buy
We are thinking about either Ather vs Ola. Or which Ola to buy?
What do you suggest??
@@pratikrai6407 buy ather because build quality of ola is not good
Bro, good to go with Ola in terms of price, performance and range.
But obviously ola
No doubt man! Ola is better in everyway
EVs price should come down at this price point EVs are not worth buying.
ather is better than ola...when compared to the two
As an Electric Vehicle Engineer, I suggest charge your battery only after draining to less than 20% and charge it until 80%. Every battery is designed for a fixed number of charging cycles. Each charging and discharging will consume 1 cycle of battery life. Therefore drain your EV battery completely before charging

You should begin with ‘this video is sponsored by ola’.
Prove it
Battery cost after 5 years is about 60-70k even after warrenty😂😂☠️
these electric scooter companies are raising price af.
ather 450x is at 1.8lakh in my town and highest end with all features is 2lakh.
also any repair or damage costs will cost u another bang.
i really wanted to buy electric scooter but went for petrol.
EV Bikes are not suited for Indian climating conditions, since these scooters are exposed to dust, heat & rain. Battery has to be replaced every 5 - 7 yrs & that cost equals to a ICE scooter, adding to this is risk of catching Fire is always there.
TechWiser ❌
Advertisor ✅
everything is all good but even after 1 lakh kilometers done the range / milage of an IC engine won't be as bad as an EV and at that time the battery will cost around a lakh to replace so the goods are not as good to make the switch now. even the EV will be much more valuable now after replace the battery the problems will start to arise and the coverage of the company will be gone too
Really appreciate your content bro..never saw anyone who covers all topics and cases we have in Electric & petrol scooters..
Well done ✅😊
In electric vehicle, water can't enter in the exhaust due to water logging during rains..
Since I live in Gurgaon, it's a massive plus point for me.
I brought Okinawa ev bike my experience is a$$ worst service (they removed service centre from my town ) i have to go to other town. u will get 60-65% range only. No parts available at all they don't even lift my calls 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Recently saw a reddit post where a student was getting late for college, but got a software update on his ola scooter, and he was unable to start or cancel the update.
I really considered buying Ola s1 pro few months back but stopped due to following reasons (correct me if im wrong)
- Very bad Service
- Battery replacement cost is high. Even if it offers warranty since the service centre are sloths it doesn't help.
- really struggle in uphill climb
- Takes charging time instead of seconds filling in petrol ones
- Even though it saves money in short term due to low charging money, in long term its nearly same as petrol scooters
- new and unfamiliar, cant go repair to any shops like in petrol ones.
Next video request:-
1. How much it cost battery replacement and what are terms and conditions.
2.why it can't be hacked.
3.can we repair it??
Range Anxiety, Software Bugs, Delicate plastics & expensive battery trumps every advantage EVs have over ICEs for me
For all those mentioning sponsored, I'll suggest watch this from a objective lens. It answers very serious question of even considering an EV in the first place, pros and cons etc. I have lots of questions and resistance to buy EV vehicle, but this can a step in the direction where one can atleast decide what their next 2 wheeler can be.
Your content delivery is superb. Enjoyed every bit of the video. More importantly, the review/ comparison is very practical and helpful for all. Thanks for your genuine efforts. EVs are continuously developing, advancing and proving themselves far far better than ICE vehicles. The added eco friendly aspect makes them much needed essentials for all of us. ❤
My Active is 18 years old, lets see if any of your iPad EVs last that long
Seat Covers can be found in the Local Market as well.
Thats not a Con at all for Ather.

And about the reliability, my area faced severe water logging and floods 6 months ago. My old activa 125 was affected but since the parts are easily available, the scooter was fixed easily at a good cost.
Ola and ather on the other hand if get affected by the water will cost a lot more and will be harder to fix.

My 16 year old bike still gives me at least 60kmpl and runs smoothly.
Last one minute conclusion is sharp and crisp. Buy it! ❤
It would have been much better if you had covered battery replacement cost under warranty and without warranty. That cost also needs to be considered when we are comparing ICE with EV to find out average cost per km
U were energetic...Cheers !! and thanks for all the input about both types of scooters.
100% sure it's sponsored by Ola 💯
If you have backbone then prove your point
The days were gone when Tech Wiser was honest and not into paid baiting his subscribers into buying something which is not that good as shown in the video.
If you live near the mountains and wish to explore even slightly, don't even think about buying an EV
Really informative, useful, clearing many doubts. Thank you!
Literally me watching this video mid road with my Ola Stuck in the middle of the road due to its software issue
(Found this while searching For "How to fix this thing"):
New Activa also has the " open the stand to turn off the engine" feature
you didn't do a cost comparison overall including battery replacement of EVs which cost 50% of the scooter price and the Petrol Scooties with servicing costs and replacement costs over the same period.
Are you really saying taking out a phone, opening an app and turning the scooter on is faster than a simple key knob? Like fr?
"You dont even need the key"
Proceeds to pull out phone to unlock scooter just like a key💀
Biggest issue with e-scooter at the current time is lack of charging station networks (including high charging time) and not good resale value.
After all, having a dependable scooter is crucial for my work and peace of mind.
electric scooters are pretty cool when it comes to running cost
Three things... First even the latest Ntorq and the Dio get the side stand warning (where the engines don't start till u put up the stand) secondly idk bout other scooters but the Dio doesn't get the kickstart because the new scooters don't need kickstart. Third... New scooters are getting keyless entry like cars where u just unlock thru the key and u can start the scooter without putting it in.(it uses proximity sensor )
loved the video. please do more of such diverse tech content.
What if my scooter has a law battery and my phone is switched off?
A)how would I start scooter?
B)how would I search nearby charging stations ?
C) with Activa I can fill petrol and sign off very fast 😂 but how would i sign off that fast with an ola scooter?
D) Activa is highly durable and long lasting as per millions of customers but with ola scooter I will have a fear of burning it spontaneously.
you did not consider the price difference while calculating the cost, the extra cost paid for the ev will give some kms for petrol scooter
For those who r saying its a sponsored video. The youtuber has to mention it in the video if it was sponsored. Not because of ethics but because youtubes policies. Also they showed olas poor build quality and delay in parts replacement. If it was a sponsored video they are very unlikely to show such stuff.
