@@rapidotrains I think you might have missed the hint there. We absolutely need a Common Standard consolidation. Class C-8 or 9 2-8-0 would be ideal, with very similar steam engines also owned by the UP. Illinois Central was also a Harriman railiroad at the time, so it wouldn't surprise me if they, too, had similar consolidations.
Since the Ry in Panama is a KCS subsidiary, CP has 2 of these domes, no...?

This is the same type of dome the Minnesota Zephyr had. I miss that train.
Correct! This was SP 3604. Hopefully it will be restored in the future.
@@rapidotrains I actually hope to recreate the Minnesota Zephyr in HO some day. I’ve ridden on it when I was young. A year or two before it closed.
I have one of the Daylight scheme ones preordered. The one I preordered, number 3604, ended up in my home state of Minnesota for many years on the Minnesota Zephyr Dinner Train.

Can't wait for the Panama car either! It's strange; with CPKC, they now have 2 SP Domes: 1 in Canada, and one in Panama. The first 4-Country Rail System, has 2 SP Domes!
I will order these because I love them. But it's N scale that I want them for. I have the train build short these three quarter dome cars. Thank you. Now I wish I was in HO. They should look good on my shelf. Are you doing the SP Econo Baggage cars? Cool Picard's blinking eyes LOL

At the moment these are just planned for HO scale, but anything is possible.

Wow. I had ice cream in one of these in St. Petersburg, Florida, back in the 80s. That car is now in Panama. Came across another in Alamosa when I was working for Iowa Pacific. And saw yet another one in storage on the Royal Gorge Railroad that would later find its way to CP. Which one to order?

On the website it no long tells the interior configurations for the cars. Is there a specific way to tell? Possibly by the car number?

If these would work in mid 60s Pennsylvania I'd grab one. And at the price not a bad deal
We aren’t aware of any of these cars being used in service in PA in the 60s, but SP Dome 3601 was used here in Ontario in CN steam excursion service in 1964.
Make some in "S" scale (Finescale) and you['ll have a customer in me.
Do you know if the SP ever ran them together with the articulated cars with the full-width diaphragms?
It’s possible this would have happened in their earlier years. While the Dome Lounges didn’t receive full width diaphragms, SP only began removing them from the rest of the fleet around 1955. SP had removed them from most of not all the fleet by 1957.
What was the maximum rated speed of these 3/4 length domes in service? Is the space under the upper dome deck wasted or put to use somehow (air conditioning I'm betting).

These are the Southern Pacific Historical and Technical Society Passenger Car volumes.
The ultimate Dome Car! I'm definitely gonna pre order this. BTW is the rebuilt Canadian Pacific Version gonna have different interiors?
The current plan is for the CP car to use one of the SP interiors as retooling the interior for that car would be quite costly. Anything is possible though!

Yes is shouldn't be too difficult. We'll have a better idea once we have first tooling samples.

What ever happened to the Milwaukee Road Comutter Cars?
Our HO Burlington Route/Metra Budd Gallery cars are in tooling now. We haven't announced a Milwaukee Road version yet, but we'd like to do those in the future as well.
@rapidotrains I hope so. We've been waiting years for somebody to do them. Walthers, the stinkheads have danced all around them as has Kato.

The lighting will work on either DC or DCC layouts and will be track powered. The models will use a magnetic wand similar to our other passenger car models to control the lighting.

While the lighting will operate on DCC layouts, they are not equipped with a decoder to control the lighting.

I've always wanted a couple of these, Daylight & UP streamliner. Rapido marked these at about $150.00!, each.
These are more expensive that the typical HO passenger car, but compared to the price for brass versions these are a bargain!
