Another wonderful video of another wonderful product. Budd had exited the business but not before delivering three Viewliner shells to Amtrak for finishing and testing. In a parallel universe Budd stayed in business and got the green light to fully build out the next generation single level fleet of passenger cars including the Amfleet 3/Viewliner coach.
That's a universe we wouldn't mind getting a glimpse of.
The underbody details are insane... no one does detail like Rapidotrains!

These were my first ever RAPIDO products. I have 5 of the Phase IV B ;)
These cars are absolutely fantastic! they run super-smooth, they look absolutely stunning, the details and painting are a 10 out of 10.
i am very happy with them, thanks to RAPIDO for this very nice product and these were my first but not my last rapido cars thats for sure!

@@rapidotrains sooo 2 years passed since my comment... my HORIZON cars just received a brass P42 Phase V and my RAPIDO fleet has grown and will get even bigger! you guys make awesome cars! next will be a 3000 cuft chlorate car i also hope you guys make a new run of those bulkhead cars ;)

I got mines. I just did my review this past Tuesday. Very optimal contemporary passenger cars.
In fact to date besides MTH's ho scale IRT subway cars, I've purchased much of my passenger cars from you guys. I will do a review of the Metro North Commuter Railroad/ConnDot Shoreliner commuter cars when they come in!

Beautiful cars as always, Rapido! I remember traveling Toronto-Stratford on VIA 85, (the International) when it had Comet cars. And my coach was facing backwards!

These cars are absolutely beautiful! I love mine. I would just say though that the phase 3 wide and narrow cars both lasted well into the mid/late 2000s, there are plenty of photos and videos of phase 3 narrow cars running with phase 4b. And also, many of the cars assigned to California retained their original doors and folding traps even into phase 4 and 4b, around 2011 or so is when they finally started to get the same updates as the Midwest cars.

Intended to buy one coach, ended up buying three coaches and a Dinette. They are truly wonderful cars and run much better then a recent run of Amtrak cars from a certain company in Philadelphia.
They're like potato chips...you can never have just one!

Love the way the new cars look. Very happy to finally have them rolling around the layout. I did have a couple trucks start squeaking really bad and had to put graphite on the "bearings" to calm it down. Has anyone else mentioned squeaking?
It's not something we've heard about yet, though we'll definitely keep an eye on it now. Glad you're enjoying them!

They are quite a bit different than the Horizon cars, but we’ll keep them in mind!
Had the same question. Not sure what the point is of having a dinette without the coaches to go with it. Love the cars though Rapido.
Please do some of the phase VI Horizon coaches and dinettes that still have the original V1 doors with the new fixed steps and also some of the few that still have the fold up steps with the newer V2 dutch doors. There are those few oddballs like that still out there. They were photographed ;)
As much as we'd love to do all the possible variations, sometimes we have to make those tough choices to omit the oddballs!

Which Phase IV dinette road number is Jordan showing off? The one I ordered has the white "Amtrak" lettering in the middle of the car, and I was hoping for the scheme shown here (with the lettering to the side).

Yes the design largely was modified from the Comet II

What curve radius does this operate best on?
"Best" is subjective, though the bigger the better! They'll run just fine on 22", but they'll look really sharp on 36" and up.
They look amazing! Hope I can scrape together the funds to pick up a few before they sell out on me!

If you ever made an O Scale Horizon, it would have actual working sliding & Dutch doors, and working fold-down steps on the Phase IIIs, and working trapdoors

These are in production now. Might be a slight delay, but they should be arriving late in spring or summer of this year.

I was wondering if you had ever considered sponsoring a webcam. ScaleTrains of Benton, Tennessee sponsors either Virtual Railfan’s Dalton, Georgia or Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum webcam, it’s one of the two; I can’t remember which one for sure. Virtual Railfan has a few webcams in Canada also.
It’s crossed our minds in the past. We do have the double tracked CN York sub right in behind the office!

The ALC-42 is Amtrak's new locomotive from Siemens. These will be replacing the P42s on long distance runs.

I personally like the Horizons more than the Amfleets because they have bigger steps, which means faster station stops, which is better on my phone's storage.

The introduction to AMTRAK HORIZON CARS in this video gets an A it's very seriously done. The details are superb. When Walthers released their version it was plaqued with problems from the get go: No interior lights, no seats, no lights.trucks failing to turn out properly, Undercarriages what a 😅 laugh! They never released any of those detailed parts & accessories to put them on later last but not least the diaphragms I put the wrong versions on by "The Train Station" they're no longer in business AMTRAK'S version is oval the other commuter trains are tubular on the top middle section of the front ends. I will hopefully addding those details eventually you have on your cars and will purchase your cars by RAPIDO COMET/ HORIZON Amtrak. in HO SCALE. 👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋

Hey rapido trains in a previous videos I asked are you going to be doing a re run or c40-8m(s) and your guys said yes. I thought cool but there was a couple thing wrong on the ho scale one and the n scale one. First things first the as delivered bcrail c40-8m had no window on the door and a Nathan K5L air horn mounted on the bell for the first batch 4601-4622 the rest 4623-4626 had a regular placed air horn. And yes I do know that the ho scale -8 was a budget model. So I am okay with a little slack for you guys on it. Just don’t do the same again. Look at some prototypes and you will see the facts I have let you know about. Sorry if I came on too strong this was meant to Insult you guys at rapido but just my nit picks!
Rest assured that if we do these again, they'll be done right!

If u need to make anything that lives in mass like the anfleets or the mbta double Dekker and double dekker cab cars I am letting u use them and I give you perm to use them

We’ll probably do another release in the next few years at least! Will also look at cars for the PA’s too.
Dear rapido trains here is an engine request for you. I think it will be a neat request. What i most want to see from a model train maker is a chesapeake and ohio fireless steam loco used in paper mills. I thought this would be a neat request because I have never found one on any trains sites before. You would be the perfect company to make this.
