Forged from factory with a polished crank and bigger injectors...I've got an aftermarket exhaust on mine, along with an intercooler - as it's the same engine as the mini, Hybrid Tune in Norfolk are pretty competent with most work you might want to do. I run 220bhp at the wheel, excited to see some future updates on this and compare what power you make!
These cars are so cool, I bought a brand new 208gtiBPS in 2018. Ended up selling after 5 years with only 30k on the clock because it was in a bad way, very disappointed in the end unfortunately. Suspected gearbox/drivetrain failure but undiagnosable without an engine tear down, not what you want to hear about your lovely new car, when you get told this by multiple garages you know it’s time to sell. I’d say don’t buy if it’s going to be your daily, these things are made for the track and need a lot of TLC.
Love my 208gti but it seems to love the garage more! .. this times it’s the timing chain! Not sure if I should sell .. or modify it yet 😂 good luck! Looks good
Love it , Evo was a nice car but I think it was a hungry monster that you couldn’t go to track days. This car is so much better fun and you can drive to Germany and back
A nice buy in prestine condition. 👌 Just a note, the brakes are Brembo not Alcon... and that's a good thing since the Alcons calipers on the 308 GTI are prone to seize due to the steel pistons getting rust. Cheers
@@rowanlewisuk with what the car has got its capable of reaching 280bhp. Turbo is the limiting factor as its just a hybrid. I've just done about 700 miles on the fresh engine, but wanting a new turbo and manifold before I get it mapped so saving for that upgrade. Would expect around 350bhp roughly turbo rated for more but I think it's more the engine limit at that point keeping away from 400.
Front right shock absorber has been replaced with a new one for the second time on mine… 170k kms. Also catalyc converter has been shot for numerous kms. Give me a check engine light on and off. Code says loss in efficiency. Last summer i got engine fault with powerloss a lot when the weather was slappin… might be poor choice of coolant brand idk im buyin the car from my dad and he always just brought it over at the local independant peugeot guy. Its a hell of a car ur gonna love it. Interior vibrates a lot sometimes tho. Also passanger window mechanism just broke… had to secure the window with a gps suction thing
Love the 208 GTI, my son has a 2013 GTI. The route to investigate is the 308GTI as this is around 280/300BHP and see what parts you can use. Change the plugs or the coils packs will quit, most parts are from DS3 Mini or Pug/Citroen so are not to expensive. Cooling can be an issue if your on a track, the rad is pretty small.
I do like these my brothers got a bps and when he eventually let me have a go I enjoyed driving it. They're also very good value for money now compared to Fiesta st's. It's just the reliability issues that put me off.
Looking at buying one of these, seeing it on Sunday. Just hit 6 years old, 28k miles. Do you know what the timing chain intervals are? It has not been done and I read somewhere that it should be done at 6 years.
Lovely car mate I got the prestige version with the same engine but no LSD. The only forged things in the engine is the con rods not the whole engine as a bit of info 😊
Lovely car. Interested in what developments you make. Always wanted to push mine but then money is an issue. I have 2013 GTi and so figure if I can, I’ll get a bps and develop that instead 😂 Few points though, the engine is not forged. Not in any way shape or form. This has been debated a few times and caused a lot of confusion. 300hp is a safe limit. Beyond that forging is strongly recommended. The brakes are Alcon on the 308 GTi, but I’m sure they’re brembo 4 pots on the 208. 323mm vs 302mm on the regular GTi. Good luck with the project!
@@rowanlewisuksome guys from derv tech chucked a bigger hybrid turbo on his with intercooler and clutch change running 400bhp on stock internals. the gtis pug sport. rcz are forged from factory. unlike my old mini (n18) that didn’t and that had a limit of 300bhp. you should be good over 300 pal
Hi mate. I know this video is well old. But how do you find the suspension? I’ve just bought one and not sure if the suspension is knocking, or if it’s just stiff as anything and can hear and feel every bump
It was cancelled because the spec I ordered wasn’t available due to part shortage’s. Parts were being removed but the price wasn’t going down. Also was pushed back til 2024 so by that point i just cancelled it

Hey pal !
I LOVE 208 by PSE , imo best hothatch for the package , and amazingly lookin' !
I so wish Peugeot still made hot hatches. I’ve had two 205 GTis, a 208 GTi and a 308 GTi. The latter was fairly decent, the others were all superb.
The 106 gti was awesome too

Thanks for the info, can't complain about them being a Brembo part
looking forward to seeing your progress on this build, I have a 207 GTI not many of them about these days however mine is forged & far from standard.
Always liked the 207 gti too. What sort of power is yours pushing?

Looking forward to this ngl. Gonna see all the things I wish I could afford to do to my DS3 😂
Looking to get a 208 gti for my next car, does anyone have anything to mention that would be helpful to know about the gti 😃

Oh, you’re getting a Racing too! Epic! Make sure you get a few spare HPFP 😂

What’s the difference between the sport and the prestige? I can’t find anything online

Technically timing chains should last forever, its more of a mileage limit than age

Only thing different from the THP200 is they slightly changed the thermo housing/water pump and added the LSD on the BPS’
I have this car in matte grey so much fun on them twisty B roads, sleeper car

Interesting info. No doubt ill
Make a video where I put a camera inside and see if its forged 😂

these by "peugeot sport editions" have no panoramic roof and no arm rest in the front, is that right?
Yes thats the prestige model
I've just put a deposit down on a bps and it does have an armrest. Whether it was an option or something that's been retrofitted later I don't know.
Hi mate. I know this video is well old. But how do you find the suspension? I’ve just bought one and not sure if the suspension is knocking, or if it’s just stiff as anything and can hear and feel every bump
The front top mounts are known to knock after about 40k miles. Its a stiff ride but no knocking
Can't beat a PSA sporty hatchback can't wait to see the mods and that tint to go 😅
Its growing on me now 😂
It’s a common misconception that these are forged from factory. They are the same as the pre facelift thp200
That’s interesting. Have you got any evidence they are the same?
Yeah I will message you on Facebook. I saw your post about this vid. Please don’t let this put you off cause I’m looking forward to this build😂
No rs3 ?
I would paint the arches and side skirts body-color, it's the only thing I like better in the regular GTi
I the black arches aren't for everyone but they have grown on me over the years
Im selling a 2014 208 gti on 26k miles FSH too.
Are you still waiting for your rs3 or you hiding it? Lol

I forsee issues 🤐🙈
Theres always issues 😂
Do all 208 Gti’s come forged from factory, or just the BPS? Cheers
@@chemicalyinbalanced if its euro 6 I believe so. The Euro 5 ones are a different engine code
not a few grand around 1500 for both pumps massive problem with these
hope you got a few grand for both fuel pumps huge problem with these cars and carbon build up great car but riddled with problems
