  • This video ranks the top 10 most valuable publicly traded companies in the world from 1997 to 2019 based off of market capitalization. Market capitalization is calculated from the share price of a stock multiplied by the number of outstanding shares. Figures are converted into USD (using rate from selected day) to allow for comparison.

Technological companies was unstable, because they were valuable but uncertain, now, they found their real value, oil companies are victims of the winds of change and banks wowld be substituted by tech companies, remember that Apple and amazon has now banking services, soon google too... even if I think tech companies still are unstable for world economics, they gonna preserve his value for a long period of time, enough time to start to produce new economics, for me, space economics

Well... What is Microsoft making all these money from? You can look at their financial reports on the company's Investor Relations section.
But it's as you say - not from phones.
It's: Windows and Office like in the old days, plus the data center (read: Azure).
Azure is like Microsoft's answer to Amazon's AWS.
Also remember that the market cap (stock price X number of shares) is not a look in the mirror for latest years of profits. It's more like what the market expect from the companies. But yeah, a good track record of profits is a proof of that the company knows how to make profits.
Things that can help the stock price to go up:
      1) tax reduction - that we recently saw by Donald Trump, and the stock prices increased before the effect. Remember - stock prices are expectations, not mirrors.
      2) huge buy-backs that Apple is doing. This reduces the number of shares that in theory should make the stock price go up a little bit.
      3) dividends - investors love this!
      (1) and (2) combined is a big reson for why the Apple stock (AAPL) was a really good investment. But of course, they also had to "rob" their customers by increasing the prices for the iPhones and Mac and iPads and you name it :-)
And last: hardware vs software. The software companies (large profit margins) cannot survive without the hardware companies (small margins). Some companies are both, like Apple. Apple's software runs on Apple's hardware. Few exceptions: iTunes (windows), apple music (android) and apple tv plus airplay (samsung smart-tv 2018-2019, and some more tvs). I don't think Apple is doing much money on software/services for non-Apple hardware. So Apple must continue to sell the lower-margin hardware.
But Apple got probably good margin for their hardware and they are trying to increase it.
Microsoft on the other hand, would perform great even without the Surface hardware lineup. Their success is still based on that IBM deal before the release of the first IBM PC in 1981. Microsoft licensed MS-DOS that they didn't had. They had to buy an OS quickly after that deal :-)

For example: one YT video about country origin of car brand.
Many Indian said JLR is indian brand but the fact is JLR is originated/founded in UK and not India. India company just owned that brand.
