The photography, the sustained speed, pushing through the corners - this is just great. I'm bookmarking this and I'll rewatch all the winter long, thanks SAFA!
As a Swiss, for me the Susten is the most beautiful pass to ride with the bike of the big ones (like Nufenen, Grimsel, Furka, Gotthard, etc.). Climbing from the western side (from Innertkirchen, very scenic) and descending to the east (like here to Wassen, great stretches to pick up speed as evident from this magnificent film by Brian) is the best option. On weekends the road is busy with tourist cars and motor bikes, but on week days it is usually very quite. The reason is that the Susten is not a main north-south route crossing the alps, but rather a west-east road connecting two not so populated regions. The modern road was build in WWII as a militarily strategic connection and there is an inscription near the top of the pass „In ernster Zeit dem Frieden geweiht." in „In serious times dedicated to peace.“
I rode the valley behind him, along with others, this last summer. Doesn't take much miscalculation to end up under the wheels of an oncoming tractor. Not his best work there.😵
@@erickcarlson9245 None of this would be possible in India. Every day ride is very crazy already. I'm happy that every one is safe. Living on the edge can be forgiven when no one is hurt :)
As someone who originates from the climbing community, hammering descents like this feels quite similar to free soloing. It rarely goes wrong but if it does, then that's that... And as with soloing, if it does go wrong, it does so for reasons that you cannot control (like a cow crossing the road). So I wish you luck.
usually with climbing though you are not puuting in danger other people unless there is heavy traffic on the mountain so that would be the biggest difference if u do stuff like this on public road you can harm others opposite to solloing on mountain
Is someone forcing you to dice with death or do you have some control over your hobbies? It's very easy for a tyre to fail rapidly in various ways, especially when cornering, leaving you trying to steer on a bare wheel rim with milliseconds to go until you come a cropper.
overtake at 10:34 is so disrespectful, also the bus overtake. There are many disrespectful car drivers, but also some of us disrespectful bike drivers. Then you encounter some people in cars who make a gesture as if they want to run over you, and maybe cyclists like this are the reason. The video is very well filmed and all, but yeah
@@greedycat4026 You know that they were over the speed limit, don't you? Why would the car drive faster than the speed limit just to let two wreckless riders pass? The rules are for everyone, not only for cars.
@@njsfer to let them pass he should slower pace a bit for a sec (like cool guy on 9:48, not that he has to do that), not exceed the speed limit.. but just apply common sense =D and not be a bot (even following within rules). So many things u can do staying with in the rules and still be annoying, i didn't say wagen was violating anything. And i don't think they are wreckless riders.
10:39 the timing of the overtake tells you a Lot about this riding "style"... someone i know was involved in a cyclist's fatal accident and although they had zero fault, they've never been the same person afterwards :(
Such stunning scenery and incredible riding, but I really feel you tarnish the video by those overtakes. Unsafe riding shouldn’t be glorified like this, whilst I appreciate you showing the whole pass I think you’re on borrowed time with incidents like this and others in some of your other clips.
I know the area very well. You've picked a good time, because in most cases you have to reckon with really dangerous motorcyclists coming towards you (on your side of the road). Good luck to you!
Wow, amazing skill and bravoure. But I condemn your on road behavior severely and politely. Other traffic users are made an involuntary participant in a dangerous situation because of your lack of adhering to basic traffic laws. Taking a risk with your own live does not mean you are allowed to endanger other people.
nice! i can momentarily get up to these speeds but being over 70 kph almost all the time is quite different. you must trust your cameraman a lot. the video is amazing
I’m heading here in august and I’m aware of how perfect the surface is and how different it is to my mountains in Australia. What tyre pressure are you ruining for this?
Seemed like that minivan was trying to block him sometimes. Then he pulled to the right to invite Brian to overtake when a hazard was coming. The latter not intentionally I think but it looked like it.
I'm both driver and cyclist so I try to see both sides. The conflict was initiated by the cyclist but could- and should have easily been solved by the driver by stepping off the gas for a few seconds. A good driver would have done that and there wouldn't have been any issues. This one instead chose to further escalate by going faster and driving over the line because his ego told him "you shall not pass".
Camera work really gives the impression of speed. So immersive, sweaty palms just watching. I'm conflicted though as some overtakes were dodgy. That people carrier was moving about about in his lane a bit, good job he didn't come left when you did the overtake head on into the tractor. Stay safe 👌
When accelerating out of a hairpin and standing on the pedals, is the rhythmic mechanical noise the chain rubbing on the front derailleur? If so the frame must be flexing?

That overtake between the tractor gave me spine chills. Heart rate was high through out the video. Sheer adrenaline. Awesome experience :)
That guy though he could stay in front of Safa... Little did he know...

problem is that, in contrast to free soloing, he endangers also other people with this reckless behaviour
Great video, but I have to say the overtake was complete madness.

The most exciting, captivating and reckless cycling video I’ve ever seen.
I hope you had time to take in and enjoy the awesome scenery while staying safe cycling.
I feel blessed to be able to experience this POV at high speed high HR that I will never be able to achieve. Ride on Safa!
Nothing better to watch on the trainer. Much love ❤
👊
Wow your videos are incredible. Im a huge fan and envious of your downhill adventures. Please be careful!😅😅😅😅
Such a majestic road, this and Nivolet are my favourites
Not too many know Nivolet! :)
I got goosebumps watching this video
Catching and passing cars is f’ing legendary!
Until he comes a cropper, and one day it will come
Great ride and another banger as usual Safa!

My idol in cornering💯🔥
Absolute work on art, Safa. Just got a new monitor. Loving it on this thing.

Omfg.....my heart can't take it! Stay safe, men!
That overtake gave me an Ulcer!
Mad Bike Skills!
Have been waiting for such video for weeks
I don't think the others on the road appreciate this
Watching this gave me the raw runs...
The views are incredible, the speed is insane, and your turns give me anxiety! Stay safe brother!
Muhteşem bir doğa manzarası ve cesur bir sürüş teşekkürler videolarını ilgiyle izliyorum
I have done this one too, on East side up (fantastic) and West side down late afternoon. Crazy good.
Favourite road!
Fantastic!
That slow tractor was so in his way. He almost had to bump it over 😂
insane…kudos as well to your cameraman…can’t drop the guy😉
What a pleasant bicycle ride ❤ awesomeness 👏✨✨✨✨✨✨🤩
Man and machine in perfect harmony
I dont this I'd ever have the cajones to split the van and the tractor like that, but I also dont have these chops 🐐
Thank you, I enjoyed the ride in my chair 😄
that's amazing ❤
I'll bet that the guy driving the tractor didn't even notice SAFA as he passed in-between them 😂
Jesus 😱
that was a lucky one, usually tractors are quite wide :)
@@Sandman_TV SAFA is experienced being a bike messenger in NYC he's used to going thru tight situations 🔥
Over taking the bus on the corner looked worse. 11:59
he threw his hand up and yelled at him
Rafa riding a desktop wallpaper ❤
Sick! WTF with that blue car. That was a squirrely pass with the farm equipment! I'd love to see your tires after a descent like that. Good stuff!
Nice ride I bet those tires and brakes were worn out.
lindo vídeo e boa sorte
the safas got 450k subs! 📈congrats. it's working!

awesome courage and coolness
Next time when your in Switzerland you should check the Pragel pass, its a tiny little Mountain Road with up to 18% inclines, 12Km 930m down
Crazy Safa👌🏻
That‘s amazing!
Hi bro! Your new subscriber now!! Super great vids!! How do u put the speed and all those details as overlay, though?
I love how you squeeze every km/h, maximum attack 😍🔥👏
Awesome ride - congrats. Excellent filming too. Know this pass well - never seen this little traffic tho. Must have been Monday morning 8am 😜
rode gottard and Nufenen this year but have to go back for this one
I think you need anger management. 😂😂😂😂
Really amazing ride though so I think my heart stopped five times watching it. 😂😂🙃🎃
Mate, that pass between the tractor 😮😮
Gotta get them TH-cam hits!
that blue car tried to race you and block is crazy 😮💨
What a dream road 🚀
Caramba, a sensação de medo não é a mesma quando está em cima de uma bike assim. Show!
Just came down to LA with the road bike to chase some of your videos, maybe over to Switzerland next.
10:39 was extra spicy!
Definitely!! Whew!
4:49 *88 kmh* 😱🤯
*Sorry friends, I don't have sunglasses* 😁
you need new glasses - 89 !
😅😂
I rode this in tne other direction ... 3½ hours! Don't remember the lengthy avalanche protection though. Maybe it was built after 1984.
10:08, Berner, one of the most dangerous driver in the moutains :D
10:38, risking your life because someone doesn't want to be overtaken
😂😂😂 that van was movin boi, I wanna ride one of these bikes
What a view! Superb descent! Loved the overtaking! 👌
Pedalling hard at 70 km/h! What is your gear range?
Threadin the needle with that van and tractor. Van was kinda a dick though
Your favorite.
guys this is so satisfying
I was wondering what's the best POV for cycling and I need another rider :)
Great content!
