    Loving this channel. Nothing frustrates me more than videos saying “this one simple move” and it’s 19 minutes long. Appreciate you being concise!

      Adding on to this. 3 mins with a drill is so great. Those 19 min long ones often won’t even have a drill, just tell you to “feel” things

    This tip was a huge light bulb moment for me and I tested it yesterday. Within 10 practice strokes the results were off the planet 😮 Unbelievable ! I always struggled with this strike position before, trying to force it. The ease of it now is just unreal...many thanks !! Whc 9.8 soon to drop, I'll keep you posted

    Such a game changing lesson here. I think its become clear that when I first started golfing I read a lot of "fire the hips" or "rotate your hips" to start the downswing and that caused me to just whip open my hips and cause all sorts of issues. This video shows the hip will rotate as an effect from proper down pressure, just whipping them open without that is not really helping at all.

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Exactly that! Words are powerful so saying fire the hips can really get players into a bad position

    Ive been looking for this video for my 27 years on this planet.. ever since I started playing golf I’ve had this problem and this like just fixed everything in my golf game. Literally made my chipping better… because I’d always extend my leg on the back swing but then I wouldn’t on the down swing. Thank you 🙏🏻

    An excellent suggestion Giles on how to create a proper hip rotation in the downswing! I like the idea of pushing down on the front leg in order to generate this clearing of the left hip. This move is almost like throwing a ball side arm! Well Done Giles! These short videos are great and always loaded with valuable information!

    Would you be able to do a video on where the hands should be (exiting) AFTER impact? Ive finally fixed my in to out swing and Im trying to get an idea what my hands should do after impact, where should they exit and how to get that lead arm to fold correctly up to a picturesque finish.

    I swear its like you knew exactly what I needed next after that last video of getting my hands down without rotating the club open. I was getting to a place where my hips are stalling out... lots of rotation on the backswing, but then they rotate through and at impact they just stop there... and no amount of me in my head thinking "rotate my hips around" - helped, and would make it really hard to hit the ball... this is interesting, I"ll have to try this.

    I think my problem with distance is not having a forward shaft lean at impact. I can hit straight irons, they just land 20 or 30 yards short of where they should. I'm a good sized, fairly strong guy and I hit a 7 iron 120 yards at times. That don't cut it.

    • @Gilesgillgolf

    I've had 3 lessons on clearing my hips and I just cant take to it. I've had right shoulder to ball routines, golf bag behind me and try to knock it over with my left cheek, and slowing the swing down. I play off a 7 handicap and because of my early extension my misses are wild (thankfully my short game bails me out) It's got to the point where i just feel i'll never get it haha! I'll be trying this at the range tonight, will let you know how it goes! As always though, it seems simple watching it, put a club in your hand and the whole body just rejects the motion haha!

    • @Gilesgillgolf

      If you can’t clear the hips then you have a root cause issue preventing it. See my 5 reasons why you can’t rotate video

    When I get to the top of my backswing it almost feels like my left hip can go backwards easier if I try to slide my lead foot back and my trail foot forward. What’s wrong with me? I’m assuming my weight/pressure must be off.

    Question... why would I push the ball at impact, rather than hit it straight?
    Am I perhaps to late in the push back or to early in the push back?

    • @Gilesgillgolf

      There are loads of reason why you can push the ball. Essentially it boils was down to the path and face pointing to the right of target

    I have been trying to load the left foot, and then push back with foot to force my left hip back. I have trying this for almost a month now, and I still cant stop my right knee moving into the ball. I keep losing the tush line. I end up being almost 6 inches off the tush line. This is so frustrating. I havent tried the drill you mentioned so maybe I will give that a go. But I was curious if you are thinking or doing anything with right leg as you push back the left leg.

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you reduce the amount your right leg pushes then you’ll lose distance. Is your right leg pushing in the correct direction? Is there something else wrong forcing you not to want to rotate like an open clubface?

    • @johnt697
      @johnt697 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Gilesgillgolf I am not really thinking about right leg, I am trying to shift weight over to left leg, and then push off with left leg. So not really not doing anything consciously with the right leg. But unfortunately, as soon as I push left hip back, it sends my right hip/knee towards ball. I have seen my clubface on video, and it is sometimes just a hair open, but nothing crazy.

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johnt697 then that’s where you’re going wrong. You have to be aware of where your right leg is pushing
