- You thought Mr Benn was a childhood television programme from the 1970's but hidden away in the Rhondda Valleys you can have your own adventures like Mr Benn at the Old School Tea Room & Shop. Viewer, Andrew, suggested I check out this interesting place in Pentre which used to be a school.

What a gorgeous vintage shop. Community spirit all the way.
Bore da Sean,
Oh what a lovely place & such lovely people. I could spend hours in a place like that. A wonderful community centred place & good home cooking & baking too🍰🧁
Thank you for taking us around, I hope you have a lovely day. Annie🏴
Absolutely my kind of place especially the community hub, brilliant as it brings people together 😊
What a great place to spend a rainy day! I bet It smelled delicious too!
What a wonderful place to visit, have a rummage and sit and chat with a cuppa and cake, definitely visiting soon.
Perhaps set a date and have a Sean appreciation day there, would love to hear your memories and stories of your varied working life. Thank you Sean what a gem!!
What a lovely community tea room. Remember Sean, 'a little of what you fancy does you good'. Cake!🍰🫖☕
Thankyou , thankyou . So much memory
Stimulation .
It's all drying up in the states .
What a wonderful place . Thankyou .
What a lovely welcoming tearoom. I loved the lamps everywhere. They make it so cosy and inviting. I'd definitely be stopping for a cuppa and a bite to eat after exploring all the interesting things for sale.
I absolutely love the place, in fact , i could actually move in! Made me feel so cosy and warm like a big hug x thank you Sean ❤
I really enjoyed this video! What a great place! You can see the community has really embraced you. They were so proud to show you around! 😘💕🌸
Three of my children went to Pentre Primary towards the end of its life as a school. At that time the tea shop was the junior dining room and the shop at the back was the gym. The wall bars and ropes are still in situ. The new dining area is much nicer! The former infant dining hall is in the same building and is now a private workshop for a local artist.
The main school was in the larger, separate building, and is now a private house.
Wow! What an amazing place! I could definitely lose myself in there. 😍 it's wonderful that places like that exist, I imagine that it must be such a comfort to people who, like me, live alone. Wish there was something like that here. ❤
Lovely place to visit Thankyou Sean. Enjoy your treat 🍰☕️🫖. You did well to resist all those items for sale.
Feels homely and brings back memories for sure. 😊
What a neat place. Bits and bobs to shop for and maybe a snack. Love the tea things.
What a great place and the way they have put things together is lovely plus great food. I am sooooo jealous!
What a fab place I would have spent a fortune there I love little bits and pieces haven't got many at home though trying to be good take care x
what a lovely place....i could spend all day here....I so enjoy your videos what a beautiful country you live in the scenery is so awesome....!
How lovely! These are the places we need to bring people together I adore this Sean. I’m surprised you didn’t leave with the green glass vase 😊
I think you’ll find some lovely little bargains in there for your little Welsh cottage and, some fascinating conversation.
Thank you for sharing Sean ❤
The tea room is beautiful were you live is beautiful thank you
What a lovely little gem of a place 😊
What a lovely homely place and marvellous concept for the community great for you so close for a cuppa and a chat I think I could move in 😊
What a lovely place! And the food looks fantastic!😊❤️💯
Its lovely! Will have to visit one day
Who would of believed what lay behind that blue door, every community could do with a place like that Sean, love the zero policy, you could definitely spend hours in there, and the food looked fantastic, home made too, also great prices and good portions, could just eat that cake, loved the vlog Sean see you in the next one Thankyou 😊
What a lovely place. I wish we had something like that where I live.
Your videos are so interesting and therapeutic. The food looks well yummy. Thank you.
What a lovely place. While the food and surroundings are a delight the most important aspect of the tea room is the community hub. Without community society crumbles. Our generation became so focused on careers that we became estranged from community. Places like this are rebuilding the fabric of what makes a strong community and therefore strong people. People helping and caring about each other. Thanks for sharing.
What an amazing place Sean. I dare not go there as I have so much 'stuff' as it is and I wouldn't be able to resist buying more or the cake 😂.
HI from Scotland great video I definitely would love spending time here .
There should be more places like this about much better than the normal charity shops brilliant idea
Imagine if things could talk, the stories they could tell? What a lovely little gem you’ve discovered there, Sean. ❤
What a great place to visit it looks amazing. To have a mooch round looking for treasure and then have lunch or cake, what could be nicer. X
Nice visit. Thanks for taking me along. If you ever decide to do a 'going on holiday in Devon' episode I can reccomend some good visits.
Looks like my cup of tea.lots of interesting stuff too see.
What an amazing tea room. I could definitely spend hours there. Wonderful ! Thanks for taking us there Sean. And you can even have a meal and cup of tea. My type of place.
What a magical shop, whoever places the items has a very artistic eye. Oh how I wish I could visit it. Thanks
It’s Damian, the Columbian guy
@@AndrewDCDrummond thanks, should have realised after he talked about the artwork that reminds him of his dad, the man with the hat.
Lovely cafe/shop. As soon as you opened the door it looked inviting and cosy. A real asset to the community.
Just want to say thank you 🎉sean I’ve just visited and I love ❤️ love ❤️ love the tea room 🎉
Hope you mentioned this video.
What a gorgeous wee shop and a beautiful community meeting place. Often we forget to value the times gone by, living in the past is not healthy but remembering precious moments from it is what gives the heart hope. Wonderful video.
Went there for the first time last week was in awe, the guys are so friendly and welcoming and thier eggs benedict is to die for
Great place and great filming. Loved all the little detail shots. Diolch. Hyfryd i weld.
What a smashing place for a cuppa 🫖 and a browse . Thanks for showing us this 😊
I want to go to The Old School Tea Room! Seems like a lovely warm, welcoming place. And vintage rummaging to boot.
My kind of heaven ❤
I would love to visit there. ❤ Shame I don't live closer.
What a lovely place for a mooch round and you might find what you've been looking for for ages and have a cuppa and a snack qlove frann xxx
Beautiful and the epitome of "coziness". Beautifully edited too. No you shouldn't have. 😝
A great find Sean, perfect for you so glad you found it. x
Oh wow...I want the blue and white pot, that is exactly what I'm looking for. 👌
What a great place to mooch on a rainy day.
Pentra, here I come, love the valleys. Thanks Sean this was excellent. 👍 🌼
What a lovely place x
What a wonderful video. The Tea room was such a delight!! How I wish we had something like that here. I could have looked all day. ☺️
This is a lovely place, so cosy. It's rare to find these days. I enjoyed this vlog. Thank you for taking us along 😊
Many thanks. Great fully appreciated.
@@seanjamescameron you are welcome 😊
I love Mr Benns shop.....seen so many things i wanted to buy , my kind of place .
Hello Sean…… wow! What a wonderful place tearoom and a shop I would love that, I bet you will be a regular visitor …. Watch the old cake though! 😂. See you soon xx❤
Hi Sean, love this Tea room, could spend hours there looking through everything. Especially love the dresser with all the beautiful crockery in it. Full of little treasures. Cake and tea, what more could you want,
X 😊
What an amazing place! You are so lucky to have these treasures on your doorstep.
What a lovely place! I could certainly spend hours there plus a nice cuppa tea and slice of cake!! You would never be lonely if you lived there. Wonderful!
Hello again Sean. I particularly liked this video clip. It’s heartening to see a fondly remembered area put to another use just to
keep things alive & going. If I lived nearby, I’d make it a point of going in and having a good look round and taking a nice
coffee of course. You’re a teapot : I’m a coffee pot, but we share several thoughts & ideas in general. I always watch what you
post - there’s NO Harry & MM, NO RF gossip running away with itself. A breath of good Welsh fresh air. Thankyou 💕💕💕
What a wonderful place.💖
What a fabulous place, I must visit! I'm particularly intrigued by the corn beef pie...
Great idea, I think pretty much whatever you want you'd probably find it there. So many tea sets, they were often given as wedding presents but then only used a handful of times on special occasions in someone's lifetime just taking up cupboard space for years.
A neighbour's front room when I was a child was rarely used, it was full of posh stuff & kept for 'best' to impress visitors.
Thats my ideal of a place to have a cup of tea, and you know the ornamental fruit !!! I have one 😊 Thank you dear Sean ❤
Oh what a lovely shop. I would love a good mooch around there ❤
What a shop of wonders and so welcoming. The more you delve into the local history you are finding such amazing places. The community are so friendly and you are lucky to have moved back to Wales. More please!
Lovely idea and place :-)
Another great video, my granddaughter has recently moved to Treorchy and they love it, there is such a community spirit there, the way they talk about it makes me homesick for the Rhondda I left so many years ago. I bought your first book over twenty years ago at a Family History Fair for £10.99,and would love to have the follow up but can’t afford the price they are asking for it now. I think if they were reprinted they would sell like hot cakes, Family History is so big now people all over the world who have Welsh ancestry would snap them up. Have a great day😊🎉
Could you self publish Sean? Then you'd earn from it more than a big publisher might give
You have some lovely places around you. Authentic and unique with a lovely community philosophy. Wonderful
The food looks really good. What a great place you can pick up a bargain, then get yourself a cup of tea and a slice of cake afterwards. The community hub is definitely something that is much needed nowadays. Thank you for showing us around.
What gem to the community & fabulous place for a mooch.. Bootiful 🤗 ...
Very interesting and delightful cafe. 😊
What a fabulous place, would have to go quite often for a tea and look around. So many wonderful things to see.
What a special place. 🩷
Plenty to look at while you drink your tea and enjoy your slice of cake Sean....very cosy 👍
that was great sean
I would be in heaven in that place. What a find.worth a long drive to visit
I was reading an article this morning about a hotel in a Welsh mine in Snowdonia, 1,400 feet down 5.5 hours to get there and no showers at the end and a brown bag dinner!
Lovely place for a visit and a cuppa tea. I'd never leave. Some of my relatives were from Bristol before they moved to Canada. Thanks for taking us along, Sean.
I visited today as I’d planned a trip to Treorchy. Wonderful atmosphere in there. The gentleman was friendly and welcoming. Will definitely go back 👍
Hope you mentioned the video?
I did 👍 🙂
And to add to my previous comments about this incredible place I have just googled it and got Waze up to see how far it is!! About 5 hours away from but well worth a visit, I must get myself booked in around the area to stay for a few days. Love love it 🥰
Contact me if you want to stay in the Rhondda. I have self-catering accommodation at the top of the valley. 😊
@@femcymoedd535 thank you for that 😊
What a fantastic place, so rare to find such a wonderful community hub like that . I suspect the diet has gone a bit off piste 😂❤️
Supporting local business.
Yeh, sure ... pass me another slice please ... Diet ?
What a beautiful community cafe. So heartwarming to hear the story of the chap with dementia…… In a world full of chaos, you seem to always find the calm. Btw…… we loved our short stay in Cardiff but time ran away with us so we didn’t have the opportunity to visit the very beautiful Rhondda Valley. I must say…… the Welsh people are so warm and welcoming. 🏴🏴
Oh yes this is the place to visit. Everything. Thank You.
What a lovely place, so much to see. Our village school in Hoole, Chester has been turned into a community centre with a cafe and various activities
Hope this inspires people to go and visit that lovely tea room and lovely staff👍🙏🏻🥰
Hi Sean , so far I am getting the feel that your town/village has a more community spirit atmosphere than City life
Another great place for a mooch around. I would be in there all day, spending too much money! I saw a nice green vase to go in your bureau and a Rusty cat ornament. Did you get anything? Also excited because it's my first early view Patreon video. Thanks Sean 🫖🍰
Hello, Sean. Always interested in what you’re investigating.
@seasideshell, me too
WHat a brilliant place
Ooh Sean that ticking clock with the pendulum would be lovely in your sitting room, that’s if you like ticking clocks, which I do, always had one as a child and I could go to sleep anytime on the sofa to that sound, I now have one of my own 70 years later, still love the sound.
What a lovely place, so clean and jolly, it would do wonders for anyone’s mental health, like the man said, one person with dementia saw things he remembered and started talking, I would def. make it a regular stop, but I think I would be tempted to buy too much stuff and then my home would look like the cafe🤣
Oh my! I could spend many hours in there. What a refuge from this crazy world we live in. Thank you for taking us along.
You’ve really captured the magic of the place ❤
Many thanks for the day out. Wonderful place.
Sweet place. The guitar music and footage were delightful! Made me smile. Loved the story about the mute man who began to talk. ❤
Oh my goodness! What an amazing retro tea room! I absolutely love it, I would be there every day! What an incredible place Sean, thank you for sharing. Your cake looked delicious 😋 ❤xx
What a wonderful community shop.
That is a brilliant tearoom Sean..How lovely to have that near you . .That will be a regular stop I bet . .Gorgeous cakes too, I feel quite hungry now ..
Thankyou Sean loved being taken to the hub what a lovely place and I now would like a china teapot and cup as tea does taste nicer in a china cup
Absolutely love the tea rooms, wished I was there x
Wonderful place to go if family member has dementia..They have this in another countries I believe. Be lovely memories for manyx
What a great place the tea room is, some lovely items on sale too.
❤ Fabulous ❤ Thank you Sean for sharing this absolute Gem
Oh how I love this place! What a wonderful atmosphere of pleasantry and community. As you were filming one of the things you showed is the exact same dessert silver spoon and fork set my mum and dad received as a wedding gift from my uncle which is so perfect as my family are Welsh. Thank you Sean for this video. It made my day!
Stone school, yes it will be flattened, all the stone sold off, worth a fortune these days.
Wow! What a truly amazing place 😍 I would live in there 😆. You think you’ve made a big change Sean but that Colombian guy has gone one step further.. what a lovely chap. Thank you for the vlog so enjoy all of them. X
