  • The House by the Lake emptied since 1979, neighbours don't even know where the family went, apparently there was legal battles for the house, other members to the Couture family are now trying to get the house.
Locals say the Couture Family that lived there was very strange, only left the house certain hours and only lived in 2 rooms of the house, and when they did leave the house they would sneak out the back and around to the street through a side exit, very strange it was like they was hiding from someone. Till one day around September 1980, locals reported the family missing but still to this day no one actually knows where they went.
It made me sad walking around seeing so many memories rotting into the ground, people in the village started to care for the house through the 80s and 90s but no one ever retuned.
Sorry the Video was a little shaking and fast moving, i just started filming with my new camera, thanks for watching please hit the thumbs up means the world to me.

The photo of the smiling man is indeed rare among old photos; they were told to sit still and not move because exposure time was so long. Some were actually death portraits although I didn't see any in this house. I appreciate very much you taking the time to look at the photos and documents. For Historians and especially Genealogists, these documents are lost until someone captures them and they are priceless to those hunting for the information. You showed proper respect by putting things right as you found them. It is pretty common to see elders move into one or two rooms; the energy it takes to care for one's self diminishes day by day. It appears the room with the newer pine paneling was one example. I loved the old bead board paneling in the kitchen, naturally aged by the smoke of the fire. Well done ;)

We went to an estate sale in a home that the family lived in for over 125 years. The family immigrated here and saved everything and I mean every container and candy bar wrapper . The company that had the sale told us it took them over a year to clean up the home just to have the sale and we spent over 100.00 us and our whole truck was loaded with antiques , cast iron beautiful glassware and their children didn’t want any of it. They had went through the Great Depression and saved everything just in case it ever happened again. Thank you for sharing this beautiful home with us. Love the spiral staircase!!

crocusflower I realize some people would probably view this as theft but I tend to agree with you. I think it is a much bigger crime to let such beautiful treasures be left to rot in these old dilapidated homes. Each picture lends to the history of that country. The people that built that country. How they lived. It’s all so important historically to respect and remember them. And the antiques!! I mean come on!! What a terrible shame!

My friend died at 42, when his mum died some years later there was no family for anything. All of his beloved items, all of his mums items were thrown in the skip by the clearance people 😢 I lived in the Opposite end of England and his neighbour rescued photos from the skip including those of my friend as a baby with his mum for me. But when I die there's no one to pass that onto again as I also have no family 😢 These things we cherish are just lost down the line 😢

One of the reasons your explores are so great is the empathetic perspective you put on the lives of the people. You treat everything like it belongs to a member of your own family. 💕

I so wish I had the money to buy a place like this. This house is one of my favorites, among many, shown on this channel. This place is SO FIXABLE !! I could do most of the rehab and repairs ALONE !! (might take a few YEARS !!) This house is SO beautiful. It features some of the nicest doors, trim, molding, and some of that furniture is practically priceless (or at least sought after by collectors). I could move into that house TODAY, RIGHT NOW, and be perfectly comfortable while I work to return it to it's former glory. (I think I'd need some plumbers and electricians. Maybe modernize the kitchen). What a house !! Everything about it, all those rooms, the basement, that BEAUTIFUL landscape it sits on, would make that place MY DREAM HOME !!

Those are mammograms xray's at 14:09 and translation for "prolongement axillaire droit" is "right axillary extension". The tail of Spence (Spence's tail, axillary process, axillary tail) is an extension of the tissue of the breast that extends into the axilla. It is actually an extension of the upper lateral quadrant of the breast. It passes into the axilla through an opening in the deep fascia called foramen of Langer. The owner must have had and possibly died from breast cancer.

That house and furniture was absolutely amazing!!! You did a great job showing us as much as you could of the house. The river flowing behind the home was mesmerizing. I wonder where the family went? How could anyone just leave a place like that? Great video. Thank you.😊

Really enjoyed this Beautiful house that was much loved in its time, I would have loved pulling up a chair and going through the box of photo's its just a shame people that have been in there have ramsacked the place pity they haven't been respectful as you all looking round. As you stood breathing in the fresh air gave me a happy feeling. I bet those that lived there long ago did the same. Thank you Dave hope your knee soon heals. Xxx

Another great explore. I'd live there for sure. With those postcards from 1998, a few of the photos and that one bulb from the 90s at 7:35, I'd say that house has only been abandoned for about 20 years or so.

  • @kevinbrennan2004
    @kevinbrennan2004 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That light bulb at 28:40 indicates that the house has been abandoned a lot more recently as reported. Shame there's dirt bags that feel it is their right to turn the place over as well.

This was my sort of playground as a child in the 70/80's.
we checked out the local forts, water and pill boxes in the 70s and 80s, it was our playground
. So sad you now have to be an explorer to see what was there all the time and open for us all x

why do people want to destroy what others once held in such high reguard, loved and cherished ?? I will never wrap my mind around such a senceless act of random violence. the house may not have been kept spotless when they lived but you know they didn't leave it like this. broken windows are a tell tale sign that someone has been there to wreck the home. family dynamics are so important when it comes to property being left in a will. because of family greed and miscomunication the house has been left to the elements and vandals, the pictures left be lost and ruined not cherished as a remembrance of past generations. they have lost so much never to get it back again...thank you for the explore and God bless and keep you safe...

So I could be wrong, and it could've been mentioned in the comments, but that spiral staircase is for the "help" ie maids and such. It's usually in a separate area of the house, so that their movements don't interfere as much with the family's day to day life. It's very common in old houses in France, or even Canada for that matter.

Some lovely pieces of furniture but most valuable in France would be the lovely stoves which you noticed. Well done to you....you were the only person to bother to pick up the shovel. That says a lot about the way you treat the places you visit. Thank you

So Beautiful! Love the way you present these lovely old places it seems that you truly appreciate the locations and what wonderful good luck you have to explore them. So glad to see your respect for them, wish you were the first ones to find them before others have gone and ransacked and disrespected the owners property. Keep up the good work!

This was a phenomenal place that must have been exquisite in its day. I love how those few rooms could only be reached by the steepest spiral staircase ever. So incredibly sad to see it empty and no longer loved by the family it once looked after. Beautiful video but too fast at times from the new camera 😞❤❤

You are spinning around way too fast to see anything, it makes one dizzy....
Please slow down and take a little more time and be a bit more thorough. Love the old antiques but we barely get a glance and then you are off and circling around another spot.
    Thanks for the videos.
