Great, it's a beautiful area! I would recommend the detour if you're ever that way again. The rail portage into Indian Lake is fun, and the lake was awesome. I do have video of the whole trip starting in Sudbury on the BUDD train.
Is that ever neat. Man, what a perfect spot for a lodge. Did a little digging and came across a story about his possible arrival and blackflies. Don't want to give anything away, but have you heard that one? 😆

There's definitely some interesting history. It looks like it was big news as the newspapers carried much of the trip.
