I went on a 30 day trip almost 10 years ago that started on the Groundhog and went up to Moosonee. I haven’t been able to find good footage of the Groundhog until now and it’s brining back so many memories!! The 10 mile rapids were a personal favorite, but the water was a bit higher when I was there so less bumping and scraping 😂 thank you for sharing!!!
OMG I love this!!!! Thank you for sharing!!! That sounds like an amazing adventure!! I did make it all the way to Moosonee 2 years ago but I left from Mattice. We split the trip into two seperate journeys. The provincial park to Mattice and then Mattice to Moosonee all on the Missinaibi River. The kayaks don’t hold more than 14 days worth of food.
I never heard of this river, and it looked amazing! To get out and rip it for 160 k down all those rapids must have been a blast. I would have wiped out in a similar style to Mike down that chute. Now I've got to look more into this route. Way to rock it!
You would love it. The starting point is about 40 minutes west of Timmins down hwy 101. The rapids were pretty great. 6 mile rapids was literally 10 km long. It was crazy awesome.
Enjoy!! It was a lot of fun. We didn’t use an outfitter. We did it on our own. Our friend Laurent had done the river before so we used his knowledge on this one. There was a few mistakes made as you saw in the video but overall we were ok. I also couldn’t get a good river map of the Groundhog. That was disappointing. Hope it goes well for you. Let me know if you film any of it. :)

Thanks for the play by play of the rapids and river condition. Planing to do this river mid sept, will have to check all the data and water levels,

Did you you Missinaibi outfitters or another option? Thanks in advance!
We did not. See my answer on your other question. I lumped it all there :)
