    I have watched a number of other videos which seem to be talking to those with some repair know how. Your video is the first one that was very easy to follow. Thank you for the clarity! This is a simple repair that anyone can do.

    Thanks for this discussion, Andrew. My Maytag ; freezer was working Fridge not. I vacuumed the coils and took off the back panel. Fan was blowing, as well as the freezer fan. I unplugged the unit and low and behold, water started to fill the drain pans. Used to sponge to extract water, seeing the pans are fixed, and within a couple of hours, the unit is now again functioning once again. Thanks

    Thanks for this video ! somehow you have the exact same fan cover and top vent cover that I have on my kenmore model 596.6997 bottom freezer fridge. I thought there was a fan behind the fridge chamber but it is only a vent cover. you showed me that the fan is a pusher style in the freezer chamber. Cheers Bud !

    Thank you so much for this video. Our fridge went warm last week. We have just checked the freezer and found the vent blocked, not by ice but by an ice pack which slipped down there. Hopefully removing that ice pack has solved the problem.

    This has happened to me twice now with "someone" who will remain nameless (me) left the fridge door open too long. Backend froze up. Took all the food out for a night in a chillybin, turned the fridge off with the doors open overnight. Was good to go again in the afternoon. Couple hours in and the fridge was cold again.

    Ice Build up is very common with this model I have the Maytag Version but they are the same design. Fan can be blocked by ice easily solved with a hairdryer.

      Hey what if everything is working but there was just a little blockage in freezer Vents with food and Ice? I took everything apart and all components are working. I can feel some Ice in the ports running from the freezer to the fridge. Could it just be the blockage from too freezer bags and Ice build up

    I have a Maytag with similar setup (freezer on bottom); MFF2558Vem4 (piece of junk imo). The freezer is freezing too much and the refrigerator is too warm. Let it set for a day after discovering the drip pan was bone-dry. Next day it was chuck-full. Cleaned everything out and the problem started back up and all is working.
    Fast forward two days and the same thing is occurring with ice build up in the refrigerator section where air is suppose to circulate. The fan in the freezer section is working. Therefore I conclude that when it goes into the defrost cycle the heating element is not doing the job it once did as all refrigerators seem to do this. My solution it to take heavy gage aluminum wire and wind it around the heating element and place the other end on the drip pan and I do this with multiple strands. Worked for the top freezer we have and have not had this happen since. Top freezer was dripping water into the refrigerator section over and over.
    This one seems to be doing the same, but I am not positive my previous solution will work. Any thoughts or comments to help reach the right solution. The machine is only 5-6 years old. Thanks - Tanner

    Got me pointed in the right direction and the freezer vent was clogged with ice. The fridge sits in the garage and it's summer so it defrosted fairly quickly and now it works fine. It still may need a part for the auto defrost cycle though which I will look into if it loads up again.

    Good video! How to remove the fan cover of the model that I see before playing this video? I have a Whirlpool model GB2FHDXWB05. The refrigerator section is not cooling, and I do think that the fan behind this cover is defective.

    Does anyone know how the fridge adjusts the temperature? Is there a small internal fan in the fridge seperate to the freezer? There just seems to be one vent running between the freezer and fridge.

    Thank you very much, much of googling lead me nowhere, but one question, I do know mine got frosted over as the door was open for an entire night, but could I defrost it just by turning it off for some time then?

    • @AndrewDIY
      @AndrewDIY  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      SeikatsuNiju Yes, that would work. but you'd want the door open to let it melt faster, then mop up the collecting moisture.

    Everyone giving this guy thumbs up and he does not deserve it. He picked on the easiest solution BUT forgot to mention that If the fan works, then defrosting the fridge will only be a temporary solution. The Ice will build back up and need to be defrosted again. If the fan does not work it may be the fan but it may not be as well. I get the views don't know any better BUT someone putting up a video on this issue should have a clue. Something this guy does not have.

      Somehow I am guessing that you are a refrigerator technician. His piece helped many people who had the simplest of problems. If someone tried his remedy and it didn't work because it was something more technical, then naturally they would call in a Technician or get a new refrigerator. Personally, I think he deserved every bit of complement he received. What are you offering other than negative criticism?
