WOOOW! That's the ONLY cassette plugin I've ever heard that sounds like the real thing. My teenage years I listened to them all day! Listening to the effect actually made me emotional! It was like "yep, that's how it sounds".
Please release more of these! As a sphere member for a few months already, I found that the monthly sample packs were very lacking. On the contrary, these kind of plugins bring so so much value and are things I will actually use. I got to a place where I wish there will be anything but a sample pack each month, and I’m looking forward for something of value. Loved the idea retro mix legends and loved the idea of expanding the FAT Channel and the analog emulations, please please please do more of that and capitalize on it and make it better and better. That would be one of the top priorities for me, that and improving on S1. If you’re planning on releasing more sample packs please make them better. Love your videos Joe! And studio one is phenomenal. Just diving into the mix effects and your analog emulations. Hope you’ll listen to my feedback! 😁
That crosstalk was honestly surprising - I think that and the drive are worth the price alone. Nice to see the team in Germany are having fun with that tape algo y'all made as well!

Same. I’ve used reaper for 10 years and had to fight with it every step of the way, mostly getting discouraged. Never considered swapping until seeing how intuitive Studio One is, drag and drop is so efficient! I’m not a super computer savvy guy and reaper was a great deal but a technical headache. I’ve already done more in S1 this week than I have in reaper in the last 3 years. Sphere is the deal of the century!

I'd like to compare these new mixFX with CTC-1 which I bought recently and the new ones are slight variations (except Porta of course). Still using Softube TAPE on CH and BUS and CTC-1 on MASTER ;)
Considering buying these but I'm a little sad that with that Character knob on Porta Cassette that there's no adjustment to the wow and flutter. I loved how it affected the EQ.

Izotope has their unbelievably comprehensive, over $1000 worth of entry level plugins separately, as an “appreciation bundle” for $50 right now. Presonus is using the car dealership tactic of Upselling features that should probably be a part of their $400 Studio One PROFESSIONAL package anyway, with no loyalty discount for existing customers, at least thus far. (Wait, why doesn’t the car already have a sufficient amount of undercoating?) There really is a big difference between all these companies and their relationships with their customers. But at least it ain’t Avid.

In your account, go to Products > Software > Add-ons. Click the green refresh products button. Then scroll down until you see them. I installed them with no issues at all.
Yes. Mix FX do go on the Busses. If you place it on the Master Bus, with “Passthrough” engaged, it’ll reach every track. If you disengage PT, then it’ll stop at any Sub-Busses you have setup. Then if you have say Portastudio on a Group Bus, it’ll only effect tracks feeding that Bus.

If I use the alpine on drum bus but Brit console on mix bus, will that end up sounding like the alpine running through the Brit console? Or if you have 2 does it know to run independently. Would it make more sense to have a drum bus and then another bus that all the other sub buses are running to (minus the drum bus) in order to use 2 seperate instances that don't interfere with each other?
Most of this demo I couldn’t hear the difference in anything until the ports cassette thing. Maybe if I spent more time in a decent listening environment. Suggestion they have a logarithmic progression so that when you turn it up to full you get the exaggerated outcome and you know what to listen for. No way I’m gonna fork out for something I can’t even hear. May as well spend the same money on Harrison Mixbus.
I might be off on this without trying myself, but it sounds like the designers limited the amount of character these are applying compared to CTC-1, which adds a lot of colour when dialed up? You're pushing several parameters to their limit here and even you sound surprised at how inaudible the difference is. Perhaps a future patch could include an option to drive it further?
It has volume compensation built in and the intended effect is supposed to be subtle. There are plenty of other plugins available if you want to nuke your tracks completely. Having said that and then trying it with a pair of headphones, you can certainly hear the crosstalk when cranked. It's not translating via TH-cam very well.
I used to love and really wish I could still trust studio one 🙄 I had an issue with latency and lag after an update, took 6 months for me to realise that it would start whenever the add channel was used rather than drag and drop effects or instruments. It wouldn't happen straight away and one time amplitube would start first then spread another time it would be fat channel or presence. The software and I eventually reconciled but I know not to bother with support ever again and I will never update after the here's the new version now here is 3 updates to fix the problems or version 5 as presonus call it.
Same here... All of a sudden melodyne stopped working for me. Everytime I try to use it it will prompt the "install melodyne" message only to go and do it and it gives me a messages that "melodyne already exists" so 🤷🏽🤷🏽🤷🏽... Also quantize works on and off... So frustrating
If audiophiles had sound quality nightmares, they would be this video. Not saying I don't personally see the value of these changes, but these are all essentially ways of reducing the resolution and sound stage of a mix in order to make the sonic character more familiar to those who are used to poor resolution and sound stage. That's gonna make some music consumers cringe, so keep your audience in mind.

You can add it on the Mix Bus and have cross talk from every channel in the mix. Or if you use individual busses to group your channels you can add it to them and only effect the channels in that group. Then if you want to run those busses through the mix bus and dial in more knock yourself out, it's up to you and the sound you're looking for. The way Joe used it was on his mix bus to effect the whole mix at once. Thats personally what I do myself. If you're not familiar with mix bus processing, it's just a bus you create that all your channels and busses are routed to before the master. The mix bus is essentially the master and everything is routed there, then the mix bus goes out to the master.
I'm jealous.. I already have every single Presonus plugin and mixfx including the Softube Tape...we'll see how money goes COVID is still causing a State of Emergency and no clients coming where I live so...

Hoping they actually modelled anything with the ”state space” stuff this time. Fat channel was a huge dissappointment. Makeup on a pig. Did you run it through its paces for real? Analyzer and sine waves? Does it what is claims it does?
Been waiting for an update since CTC-1, which I happen to really like. But ever since UAD has been implementing this kind of technology within Luna, they took this concept over the top with the GUI. I'm an S1 user but UAD makes Luna look very intriguing due to their setup and look of those mix console engines. ANYWAY... I've been hoping that Presonus was going to REALLY step up on their game on the next update to the MixFX plugins/engines (or whatever you want to consider them). I'll take this new update for now (I just actually bought it), but man COME ON!!!!! This looks like some straight Micky Mouse crap compared to UAD's version. They REALLY need to step this up on the graphics and how it sits in the channels and busses. Add some cool meters in the channels or something. Make me feel like I'm using something SPECIAL with these MixFX. That Alpine desk belongs in a cartoon! Lol. Let's go Presonus!!! The technology behind it is top notch, but the GUI needs to match the technology. Looking forward to a REAL update on this next!!!!
@@lovemusic942 it runs ableton Live 11 and studio one v3.5 perfect, with 60 I/o. Plug ins would be out of scale and the crashes were crazy. The system looked good, but totally unusable for me in this state. I found lots of posts about it which made me uninstall it for now.

Good work Joe. These mixer FX are the main reasons I keep S1 on hand... no other DAW does console emulation quite like this (i.e. correctly).

it always seems to be a hassle to get new products by Sphere. I don't see this anywhere in my sphere account.
Just look at the menu Studio One > Studio One Installation > My Purchased Items. It's there, just installed it!

Last I knew there is a 30 day trial of Pro, which you can use your plugins with. As well, there is the free version Prime though stock only plugins.

I really can't hear any changes. I don't use much FX on my mixes that much.
I notice crosstalk because it will go to mono.
Studio one V5 was the most useless update ever, totally unuseable, went back to V3.5 and rock solid not my system. Graphic issues and crashes in V5 :(

@@lovemusic942 it runs ableton Live 11 and studio one v3.5 perfect, with 60 I/o. Plug ins would be out of scale and the crashes were crazy. The system looked good, but totally unusable for me in this state. I found lots of posts about it which made me uninstall it for now.
