actually your other win condition would be alextrasza and double fireball frostbolt next turn... so yeah. since u cut a fireball, your deck has only 1 win condition now

Yeah, without that combo there's little point in running Alexstrasza.
No kidding. Not only did he rip out a strong win condition from his deck (probably his only viable one vs Exodia mage and Razakus priest), he also gutted his control vs control matchup so he now loses to fatigue. The "improvement" is a disaster.
Armor doesn't even have to be gained after the alex comes out.

Of course it's included, Jens loves a good laugh too. If he really wanted, he could've pictured a very different trump, a trump that never loses and makes very smart changes to decks.

Because switching between youtube and Hearthstone on phone to add the deck takes a long fucking time, besides it's just much more convienent if we could get a deck code

epic2owls Horrible argument. I've got two and don't use the HS phone app since it's huge. Aside from that why shouldn't we use a future that's been implemented as a QoL. Sharing deck codes makes the whole experience of trying Trumps' decks more convient and makes the general enjoyement of Trumps' videos in wich he plays off meta decks just much more enjoyable.... All in all your argument doesn't make any sence when there are options like these wich make viewer experience better in general.

It's literally just a control mage. You run double arcane intellect, double arcanologist, bloodmage, and an acolyte.
Running stuff like ysera, lich king, tome, etc are way better.

Randomly recommended to me just after Darkmoon Faire is announced, and I thought I was going crazy hearing that music in the background

This was one of my favorite decks to play back in the days of Duplicate + Sludge Belcher / Antique Heal Bot

Personally, I don't like Wild because there are *so* many more unfair bullshit cards in that meta.
Buddy, chill. All people mean when they say more competitive is that it's a race to find the best decks, whereas wild doesn't change all that much - and for the record - I've won two open tournaments and have made top 500 legend multiple times.
I play standard Hearthstone for the same reason I play standard in MTG. I just like seeing new cards in new decks.

I'm a little disappointed. From what I remember of the original 'grinder mage' ideology, it didn't run that much card draw so that the deck could try and win out a fatigue battle, should it come to that. Yet this list has 1 in every 6 cards that draw cards. I guess you could say the shift is to ensure you get Frost Lich Jaina out, but then I'm also wondering, "Where's the Fire Lands Portals, for the value and late game grinding?"
Idk, maybe I'm a bit stuck in the past. But I'd argue this should be called a control mage, not a grinder mage. It doesn't feel like a grinder, to me.
Edit: Oh, and Alexstraza feels completely out of place. Grinder decks don't kill opponents with combos and set up, they grind opponents to death.

I mean, you say that. But then in the video, Trump lost that last game in part because he drew too many cards and died to fatigue. Acolyte of Pain was worthless in all the games, and actually contributed to the loss I just mentioned. Thalnos only made a difference in one game, in all the games played. Could even argue that Arcanologist didn't really help too much. That's because they're basically just fancier River Crocolisks; a deck like this should have a ton of answers to hold off and delay death long enough for you to draw your secrets, you don't need a card to pull them out. And even Alexstraza was...well basically worthless in all the games, except for the last one.
Like I understand the deck, when played well, can win games. I'm not denying that. I'm also not saying these are all bad cards. But so many of these cards can easily miss their mark or act as a detriment to the overall strategy that I don't see why they are in this particular deck to begin with. Much less the fact that with those cards in the deck that it'd still try to follow the same ideology as the decks that came before. And Jaina's back can only carry so much dead weight.

You lost the 2nd match against big priest, if he had one more good lich king or ysera card he won for sure, not to mention he stupidly left your 3/6 elemental with lifesteal alive to ping face while you have a net gain of healing. Also, he didn't even use his greater healing potion that he shadow visioned for previously? Either he is entirely stupid or he intentionally let you win for sure...
If Trump doesn't play V3 with all of these Danganronpa references, the world may stop making sense.

This isn't Trump's fault. I've played the other version, it's a bad deck and other players were lucky on drawing well. If three or more of any of the following are in the bottom 5 of the deck, you lose:
1) DK Jaina (auto lose)
2) the five draw cards (I didn't play with acolyte)
3) AOE
4) removal
5) freeze
Aside from DK, you can only have 1 or 2 of each type at the bottom and still have enough to survive. I even successfully Nova/doomsayer an evolve jade shaman on T5, geist on T6 destroying both evolves, polymorphed aya, but still lost because DK, a blizzard, and three draw cards were bottom five. There is no win condition, you just hope to draw perfectly all game and the opponent concedes.
27:00 The game would have been a draw at worst if he hit the 1/2 to gain health and played blizzard + fireball face. The opponent's hand was 2nd drake, 2nd spreading plague, Fandral, and most likely 2nd infestation + 2nd nourish. Playing the drake would cause the board state to become a 4/4 (frozen) and 4/8 drake, plus trumps 3/1 elemental. There would be 1 turn where Ultimate Infestation would cause a draw, otherwise it was his win. With 2 elementals he can out heal the fatigue and freeze the opponents face. If he plays Spreading Plague, trump sends both elementals into one and poly + pings the other for a fresh elemental. Playing any of the 3 remaining cards wouldn't save him.

pEW pEW it kills the turn one threats and then stops the opponent developing a board on turn two so when the opponent plays a turn 3 minion it won't be able to attack until turn 4 which should be enough time for trump to stabilise and then establish control

Then picked the spellspender secret that synergizes with the valet instead of the individual power spells, and proceeded to play off curve just so he can get the secret+valet combo at the appropriate time?? my god trump finally learned how to play for tempo and not pure greed!!! hooray.

I have played this deck quite a bit. Ice Block does not belong in the deck. Ice block belongs in combo decks where you need to buy yourself a single turn. I like one frozen clone, one polymorph potion, and two counterspell. This deck does well against other mage decks but gets crushed against jade druid and other decks that go over the top of control decks.
Been subscribed to Trump for ages. I like this commentary and personality but am now seriously considering unsubbing because he plays so badly. C'mon Trump, put some thought into it
This doesnt seem very "grindy" compared to all the decks Strifecro has played in the past.
With only one win condition, this just seems like a control mage.
Something like Antonidas should be a key card in all grinder mage decks i feel
Why not add gedon or sindragosa, post jaina gedon is like a reno and you can play it with a nova, sindragosa gives you more resources against control decks and post jaina gives you a free elemental, in the last game any of these would have given the victory.
Im really thinking add coldlight and violet ilusionist to mill control decks.

this is the n.1 deck to farm jade druids....loses vs fatigue decks though like fatigue warrior or demonlock bec of his heropower,also can be run over easily by razakus

If your opponent is smart enough to just not play minions you just die to fatigue since you have no minions or burst. The big priest would have won in fatigue. I played it for a bit, deck is not so good.
then you play Jaina and spawn Elementals of your own minions. Or play Alexst and profit. Have you played it at all?
Uh...did you read my comment. I said I played it a bit. Exactly what minions of yours are you going to ping besides thalnos? Are you polymorphing your valet's because that seems terrible. Alex is a primarily a defensive card in this deck, there is no follow up burn.
Hitting top legend with a not so good deck seems unlikely
Scott Kulik That happened to me, the amount of people who don't actually know how the game plays out is too many. So what if you play alextraza? The priest has so many clears to deal with each of your minions, at the end of the game, he has a hero power that does 2 dmg and you only one that does 1dmg. Theres no way for you to summon minions and he can heal any burst you do. These people above are really stupid ^^^
I mean if you wait for Anduin to go Shadowreaper and then Alextrasa and he doens't hav eheals you k ill him with 2 Fireballs and Frostbolt. That's a common win con

A deck Trump is born to play would contain cards that read something like "Spell: if you rope on this turn, deal 30 damage to your opponent."
trump should make a segment called anti deck doctor, where he takes the best decks in current ladder and "fix" them using 5 star rating cards and removing the 1 star rating cards. I no longer wana see him playing ranked it is just to painful

I feel like deck tracking is cheating, but then hard core players would probably use pen and paper if it was (I mean are there any streamers that rely on memory only?)...
The two DKs I got from pack/adventure were the two I cared least for (Druid/Rogue) Try and beat my bad luck I dare ya
I do wonder what you would replace the secret package with. Because if your going to fatigue ice block is useless and ice barrier isn't worth building around.

When you play a grinder late game deck with the counter to jade druid and still lose ლ(ಠ_ಠლ)
The real mistake he made was at 26:13 he could of hit 2 for 2 and no hit from his acolite so when he play primordial there would be 2 with 1 health and an easy extra ele or 2.
Loot Hoarder might be better than Acolyte because you can make it a Water Elemental post-Jaina.

you need to try the baron geddon / frostlich jaina interaction in this deck, you can remove one blizzard and achieve almost the same results 50% of the games, but if you stabilise until late game, baron geddon gets a lot of value out. Lifesteal heals from his AOE damage btw

Huh, this is really simillar to what I've been playing, except mine has Medivh, Antonidas and Yogg'Saron, as well as a Cabalist's Tome. Still, it's essentially a grinder spell mage, just with a few more options. I usually play Antonidas to get one or two fireballs and bait hard removal, but if my opponent somehow doesn't kill him, he becomes an auto-win, and Medivh gives my removal a lot more value. Yogg is just the clutch card, if I'm doing really badly I throw him out as a last resort.
More Grinder Mage! It's so much goddamn fun to run them outta resources. Secondarily, maybe some more top-tier gameplay rather than silly mistakes - maybe try to achieve a mix rather than JUST making fun of Trump
I used to play a variant of grinder mage back years ago when I still played HS. Fun deck, always felt like the kind of deck the developers envisaged people playing when they first designed the game.
I've been trying to make this work for about a week now and I have a low win-rate. At first I thought it was like he said and I was just bad. But as I kept playing I realised that every time I lost it was to some deck that was perfectly matched against me, whether it be a heavy control priest or a hunter that could kill me in 5 turns. And every time I won, 1 in every 4 games, it was against any normal deck if expect to see in ladder. Basically almost every time I try to play this deck my opponents deck is a perfect counter to what I'm running.
He just needs to take out the Acolytes and he'll have a great deck on his hands.
