      Partially applies to markers as well. There's nearly always pigment stuck to the bottom and walls. With markers you can "refill" them by adding some solvent to the tank. Like a 3rd of a tank so there's still enough pigment for some opacity. Mostly comes up with markers meant for blackbooking. People tend to have water around and less isopropyl alcohol or petroleum.

    Who has two thumbs, is almost 40 and is learning about graffiti..... This girl. I just recieved an art grant to help me purchase supplies for my mural projects. I use a brush and want to learn how to properly use spray paint. I don't want to buy any caps until I understand more and I appreciate all of your lessons. I am also a full time nurse and these lessons have helped me get my mind off some of the aweful things going on. Thank you!

      You should buy caps. I understand the whole fundamental idea but some things. Especially in mural stuff you just can't do with regular caps or cans

      I agree with Moze, but you've probably already tried some stuff out since then.

      @@snook.1 yes I bought some caps and the low pressure cans are freaking amazing. I am no pro but the mural I am working on looks amazing because I used brushes and spray paint.

      @@lucindalenfant5526 Cool! I'm curious about trying out brushes myself, it's always fun to try out new techniques! I've heard that masking tape + spray paint is a good combo for those really specific details as well.
      Have you stumbled upon any other cool techniques? Take care!

    • @Theartistblock
      @Theartistblock  5 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      I didn't think to mention that because it would be hard to flip the can upside down with the can like that so it wouldn't be logical bit I guess I shoulda covered all the bases lol

    Stellar brother thanks for sharing, really taught me the way of pro can maneuvering. As I am bringing my art to the streets, after a lot of practice doodling in my book,
    I noticed how different it is to control the spray of a can in comparison. Now I am excited to bring these new techniques to the streets and a confident that my level of expertise will increase!

    Quick question. I’m starting out, and I’m gunna be getting good cans, no Home Depot shit, but do I really need caps? I get what they do, but also how small the differences really are. Most I’ve thought about is just a small cap and a thick cap but still, is it really worth it if I’m just starting out?

    • @Theartistblock
      @Theartistblock  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both cans and caps are a luxury. Sure having good quality cans and different caps helps but an amature won't really be able to make use of eather all too well because you still don't know the basics and techniques. No matter your items, good or bad quality, focus on nailing down technique, that's really all you need to worry about when using cans this early on.

    Where did you get the fresh paint?

    • @Theartistblock
      @Theartistblock  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had it since my fresh paint sponsor years back. Wasn't able to use it much as I was monitored for 7 years ( got a video on that with more info) and then once that was over with I was focusing much more on gallery work so I still had some left over.

  • @peoplecallmepeechez
    @peoplecallmepeechez 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Aye Grimm what do you mean by chilled? Because I have been out in like 40 degree weather and all my cans get cold and clog? So where's the happy medium

    • @Theartistblock
      @Theartistblock  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean I don't check the temp but I've had them literally in the snow before and I just shook it a ton and it works for me. You may want to use a slightly wider cap if it's clogging after you shook for a while and assuming the paint isn't frozen.

    • @leohuxtable439
      @leohuxtable439 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It just drips more and i think pressure also goes down with temp. Dripping likely comes from surface being colder not the cans themselves. Just have to be more careful.@@Theartistblock

      Yeah it's risky but for when there aren't any legal spots you have to do what you have to do to get your art out there. Also legal walls take some of the punch out of it.
