    Still have never found a graffiti artist that pushes art fundamentals for use in graffiti as much as you and I love it.

    • @Theartistblock
      @Theartistblock  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      lol im flattered by your comment but it's a shame that thats the case because no shade but most graffiti artists don't know anything about graffiti's fundamentals let alone the elements of art and other art basics. Example, vanishing point 3D is a tremendously dumbed down version of the super basic 1 point perspective you see in normal arts. Give graffiti a decade or 2 and they'll see how important fine art and the elements of art is to graffiti then all this will be the new standard.

    • @dagasicreations9196
      @dagasicreations9196 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Theartistblock you are just the start of that movement and have pushed me to encourage the same things and want to make a difference in the graff culture. But you are so right, I started off with fine art but when I picked up graffiti I still made the mistake of throwing out some of those key things till I found you and you made me realize how big of a mistake that truly was. Feel I have grown exponentially in both fine art and graffiti thanks to that.

    One thing I like doing when filling my pieces is to use at least one neutral color like beige, tan, brown etc. along with more vibrant colors. I feel like it helps the vibrant colors pop without having to use the brightest shade I have. Plus I just love the way vibrant colors contrast against neutral colors.

    There is no TH-cam channel giving such useful informations for Art and Graffiti on such a sympathetic and humorus way like yours. Your channel is just what new artists need. When I started doing graffiti I made so many dumb mistakes, but after I discovered your channel you showed me how to get better faster by learning the fundamentals of the specific artforms I want to become better at, so I stopped going for advanced stuff I wasn't nearly to be ready for and started learning the fundamentals and for everyone who reads this, don't be annoyed when Grim tells us again and again that we should learn the fundamentals, take this advice, it really safes a lot of time. Thank you so much for being there for new artists with such a unique channel like yours, I really learned a lot from you and I appreciate it.

    Hey grim after watching your video, picking colors makes so much more sense to me Thxs. Also I have a suggestion/question about the learning phase of graffiti. Do you think that as a graffiti artist finishing their first year/beginners one should learn and focus on the letters of their name (and get really good) or do you think that beginners such as myself should focus on learning the whole alphabet properly and get a general sense of that? Your videos are super informative and really have helped me! Thank you! 😎😎😄

    • @Theartistblock
      @Theartistblock  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do think learning all the letters is useful but it certainly is overwhelming for new graffiti artists as you end up spreading yourself a little thin trying to manage learning hand styles, throws, straights for the whole alphabet. I'd focus on predominantly your own name until you're comfortable enough to explore and then once you are then you can mix it up now and again.

And how is the color so smooth and evenly spread?" Coz recently I've bought some spray cans and I used up ALL of the paint doing ONE not very large piece, so it must be me doing something wrong. • @Theartistblock
      @Theartistblock  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's really simple if you do it through the elements of art, simply enhance any of those within graffiti and boom there ya go. Example, greg simkins uses texture a bunch in his letters, no graffiti artist really does. I use form, space, value and texture in mine, no graffiti artist really does that. Daim uses form, space and value in a different way, once again not many graffiti artist do that. its honestly just a matter of knowing graffiti and the elements of art well enough to pull it off is all.

How much the values shoudk differ in terms of saturation and value, should hue remain unchanged ? How many shades di you need ? I think at least 5. How about discussing what colors DO NOT work together. Could make for a good topic.

    • @Theartistblock
      @Theartistblock  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      so pretty much any color can really go with any color if you know enough about color theory to make it work so you really dont have any 2 colors that cant go together. the reason for that is because if 2 colors dont work together then all it takes is adjusting the value or saturation to make it work. The only time thats not the case is if their is a more optimal option or color weight but those are situational.

      The Artist Block but that’s if your only using 2 colors. So if your doing a throwie, straight leter or blockbuster that’s great, but if your doing a semi/ or a full wild style and your using a fill, 3 color fade, bits and do dads, 3D, 2 point perspective then you can’t just throw any color you want, you need to use color theory wether you like to admit you are or not. So what I was actually suggesting is you should do a video on what colors not to use when your doing a multi colored piece. You’ve spoke about what works! How bout talking about what doesn’t work. I think it would make for a dope video

      Lol no, see what i said in the first comment was only an example, but it applies to all the situations and understand, color theory is how you make any bunch of colors work together even though they shouldnt. Its because of color theory that you can take 2,3,4,5,6,200 colors and make them work well together. So if you're using 400 colors, you can make ALL of them work together by using color theory. will it be easy, no but it's possible. Graffiti however is very serface level so for most graffiti artists brown, blue ,and pink may not work but if that graffiti artist knew enough about color theory they could make it work.

      The Artist Block, so I think the fans would love to see you do a sick wildstyle Grim piece with an insane amount of colors. I’d love to see that. 👍🏻
