Heute vor 90 Jahren, am 13.12.1934, erschien das erste Blatt einer von "Vater und Sohn" von Erich Ohser (alias e. o. plauen). Der brillante Zeichner, der sich zu Beginn der 30er Jahren einen Namen als politische Karikaturist gemacht hat, bekam nach der Machtergreifung der Nazis im 1933 einen Berufsverbot. Sein einziger Weg, weiterhin von seiner Kunst zu leben, war die Publikation einer unpolitischen Reihe von Comic-Strips - unter einem Pseudonym (der auf seine Initialen und Kindheitsstadt hinweist). So kam zur Welt eine der in Deutschland bekanntesten Comic-Strips-Reihen aller Zeiten.
Zu diesem runden "Geburtstag", hier die Zugabe aus der Premiere meines Familien-Comic-Konzerts "Klingende Kiste voller Comics": eine improvisierte Vertonung von sechs ausgewählte Blätter aus Ohsers Meisterwerk, ein Art Vater-und-Sohn-Potpourri.
Der 13.12. ist zufällig auch der Geburtstag meines Sohnes, der heute 7 Jahre alt wurde...

90 years ago today, on 13 December 1934, the first page of one of Erich Ohser's - alias e. o. plauen - ‘Vater und Sohn’ (Father and Son) cartoons was published. The brilliant illustrator, who had made a name for himself as a political cartoonist in the early 1930s, was banned from his profession after the Nazis seized power in 1933. His only way to continue making a living from his art was to publish a non-political series of comic strips - under a pseudonym (referring to his initials and childhood town). This gave birth to one of the most famous comic strip series of all time in Germany.
To mark this milestone ‘birthday’, here is the encore from the premiere of my family comic concert ‘Music Box Full Of Comics’: an improvised musical setting of six selected pages from Ohser's masterpiece, a kind of father and son potpourri.
The 13th of December also happens to be my son's birthday, who turned 7 today...
