    I'm a BJJ practitioner and Muay Thai as well. I'm glad you created this video showing the realities of martial arts. Many people don't realise the tool they all are for a fight. I have been a fan of wing shun for a while. The reason well the great power it displays in the short distance. Another aspect I enjoy from it is the speed and natural flow of the fight it teaches you. Thanks for sharing this video.

    First of all nice video, very explanatory about martial arts not just bjj or wing chun.
    It's very simple, if your sifu, sensei, master etc.. when you get on the first classes don't tell you that martial arts are for defense purpose, if they don't talk about the art itself in some classes, they only show the technics well you have to ask yourself if that teacher is a good one.
    Martial arts have 2 understandings, the technics and the philosofy, you must understand both to get the most of if and understand how it really works with logic.
    I did Karate when I was young on my 7y and my sensei sad "If you show up with bruises I'm gonna talk to your parents to see what happen" Basicly he was saying to us that if we fight outside classes we probably going to get suspended from the classes.
    Martial arts if you are going to learn them in a good way, you are going to become a better person year after year, you will understand the more you know how to fight the less you will need.
    Personaly there are some styles of fighting I don't consider martial arts, like boxing, kick box but they provide something that others don't like any other art. But if you watch closely wing chun, aikido, judo, silat, bjj, muay thai, you will notice some things are almost the same, it's like the root of that technics and philosophy has spread.
    Thanks again for this video! :)

    • @Leterian
      @Leterian 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      i appreciate your comment, reading this gives me faith that there are other martial artists outside my place which do not just train to fight, but practice to learn. I've been practicing Tae Kwon Do for 12 years, but i changed to Wing Chun because it suits me and my personality more. I don't do this to beat up people, i do this for me and my vitality, but more to understand the philosophy of what i am actually practicing. Don't get me wrong, i am not afraid to use it to defend myself and my beloved ones, i had to a few times unfortunately. But i live by the motto "avoid a fight if it's avoidable, but fight if you must", and luckily i was able to avoid carnage several times too, if it means to back off of an upcoming fight with no reason at all, then so be it.
      Thanks again for your wise words.
      And nice video btw.

    Good work on the video. You seem to have a solid understanding of the art. It's also very nice to see other people that understand that Wing Chun (like any other style) is not static and adapts well to situations when a person is properly trained. It's unfortunate that there are so many ignorant people watching too much MMA and think that makes them expects on fighting arts. I think people really need to become less close minded and appreciate good technique anywhere they can find it. At the end of the day it's not the style but the practitioner that will win a fight, and those that can adopt good technique from any style are far better off. Go into every learning situation with an empty cup and analyze the lesson after. As my Sifu always says, "A half empty pail makes a lot of noise."
    Keep up the good work

      The most important thing is to hit and relax after that. If you hit being stiff, the force of the impact comes back in the arm and is split 50% for you, 50% for your opponent. If your arm is relaxed, then the hit is fully transfered to your opponent because the force needs firm path to travel. :)

    This is completely true. As I go throught in my Wing Chun training, I feel more and more self-confident and I don't feel scared if I see someone who potentiatlly could attack me or my family. Now I know I could inflict serious damage with a couple punches and kicks and that's all that matter in a real life situation: to be safe and to protect yourself and the ones you care about. This part 2 video is waaay better then the first one, this one I like it and agreed with it. I myself do Judo wich consists of grappling standing up and down to the ground, and I have some curiosity about learning Wing Chun, the problem is that here in Brazil, its hard to find a good teacher of wing chun which I trust not to be terrible at wing chun. I'll probably learn some boxing in the future, which in my city (Salvador, Bahia) has a lot of really good gyms and made some champions on boxing and MMA . But I would love to learn Wing Chun with a apropriate Sifu.

On the other hand, when a master in Wing Chun beats up another martial artest the same people start to rethink their judfment again. Isn't that with due all respect stupid. Seaech high and low before judging something or just never judge. I'm a fan of Wing Chun and I respect all other martial arts. It all depends on the fighter.

Not even understanding the definition of mixed martial arts meaning basically using whatever fighting style that works. I respect all styles of fighting and the beautiful philosophies behind them. What people dont get is just because you master martial arts or one style may be useful, no one is invincible and can get knocked out by the right circumstances

      So much respect for this comment. i hate when people instantly assume since it isn't in the ring. it doesn't work. it also bothers me when UFC is considered where real martial artists play, no, UFC is a sport competition with rules. Theres so much more to martial arts than throwing a punch. The amount of detail orientation that's needed is insane. it's so Similar to mathematics that it alongside mathematics are my two favorite passions.
      I currently practice Bear style Kung fu, and tried Judo for a bit (love it.) My dojo also offers Combat Aikido and boxing. I hope to learn from them also one day.

    I am brought to tears. I love how whenever I trained with people who were taught wing chun that there was adaptation and not following a book of moves. Just because you use the humbling knowledge wing chun gives you doesn't mean what you're doing isn't wing chun. it's not about the authenticity. it's about the effect.

  • @minirock4858
    @minirock4858 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Although I am not a specialist (only been practicing Wing Chun for 15 years), the guy doing this video got some points right. Firstly, when you get to understand painful the things you learn can be to the one who endures them, you definitely don't want to have to use them.
    Also, we got tought that street fight nothing like sparring or ring fight with rules: you never know the person who will attack you, nor when, nor when, nor how, nor how many there will be. Winning a fight is 98% luck, maybe 1% martial art knowledge and 1% natural reactivity/speed/strengh/psychology/focus/accuracy. So much to this "I do this martial art, no one can hurt me!"-matter...
    He also got a good point in telling that Wing Chun is like a tool, I might even say a toolbox: you take what you need, discard what won't work and add your personal touch to it. There are three technician graded persons at the school I'm training and they developed their own "personalty"; training with either of them is completely different from training with the others. Our sihing also has a whole different way to do his thing.
    Well, as for me, I still have a long way to go but I've already started to study what's best to me regarding how my body and mind behave.
    I first wanted to learn Wing Chun in order to be able to fight and defend and control myself. Now, the only thing that keeps me training is simply that I want to improve my mind and health and get as far as I possibly can. And I would be glad if I could live my whole life through without having to get involved in a fight.
