    I find it very encouraging when an artist post their failed and then post a success of the same project. When you try something new to you and it doesn't work out you can feel very deflated and never want to try again. However, if we can see that artist we respect have those same issues then we don't feel as that and it's a matter of fact we almost expect to have a failure to and that's a good thing because we always will.

      Thank you so much and I couldn't agree more. There's always ways to improve when you try again! It happens to the best of us!! Appreciate you watching!

    Bob Ross used to call painting imperfections “happy accidents”. He was the man!

    Just a bit of an info dump, though some others have already mentioned it:
    Modeling clay is oil/petroleum based and will not dry out or harden when baked. It's great for kids, and sometimes even for making molds with plaster or resin, but not good for permanent creations.
    Some great cheap alternatives are play-doh, DIY play-doh or salt dough, air dry clay, and paper clay.
    Play-doh needs additives like Elmer's glue or Modge Podge kneaded into it to help it dry without breaking apart. But it's fun to play around with different ways of customizing it into your own clay recipe. The more glue you add, the more sticky and runny the dough will become so start with tiny amounts! You will also want to seal the final product in paint or Modge Podge because of its flour content as pests may be attracted to it.
    The bakeable clay is Polymer clay, such as Fimo or Sculpey which can be kind of expensive but far more consistent in results. A large 2 lb container of uncolored Super Sculpey will probably be your best priced option, as the colored polymer clay tends to be more expensive. Don't be fooled by how hard the clay is either, it takes a little bit of elbow grease to get the clay workable but it's definitely worth the trouble.
    Air dry clays are also a great alternative if you don't want to bake polymer clay but each brand and type has it's own pro's and con's so I recommend planning out what kind of project you want to make, and then looking through reviews to see which will work best for your project. Many art supply stores carry all sorts of options, and you may even find some affordable options at your local Kroger or Wal-Mart type stores in their craft section!
    Happy crafting!

      @@thedoover6520 I'm in the west and in the broom closet, mostly so I won't get kicked out of my apartment complex. I'm disabled, and it would be very hard to find other accessible apartment that I could afford. It's really sad and ridiculous that in 2021 we still have to hide who we really are, especially when 90% of us are just minding our own business and hot hurting anyone else.

    I like the idea of showing some failed one's to encourage people it is possible to do it like the creators are more relateable because some people go into after watching a perfect one done and they can easily tell thereself to give up your never going to be that good.Ive honestly been there so i just watch the videos in awe wishing i could do it.but also it would be nice to see a mess up but somehow you saved it.its more relatable.💖 but I love your work its magical to watch🥰

But as respons to your video ( think I might have seen one of your videos before, so ain’t got a good grasp on what would already exist as this video was made a year ago, but an idea might be to try to make a blooper/fails/ naaah it became good but….results :) in other words, ideas that might inspire even if the result was not exactly…expected. 🙂🥰

    What is that bundle wrapped up in the clear containers? It looks like some sort of trees? Looks similar to Caesar trees?

    Shame on you! It’s been quite a while. 😂. I watched every single video you’ve made. At least I believe so. I think my favorite are the Runes and the Quija board. My favorite but afraid to keep one in the house 🤦🏽‍♀️

    Pretty sure that clay was Plasticine, which never hardens. The paint will not stay.

      Yes, they sell air dry clay at the DT now. MUCH better option!!

    Quick tip: Modeling clay NEVER dries! I've even tried to clear coat a finished modeling clay item, and it just creates a crackly crust like a clear M&M shell. I'm curious as to how and why yours dried out. Did you do anything special to it?

    • @FORESTANDFAWN
      @FORESTANDFAWN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ughhh mine half dried! DT sold a separate clay that was able to be baked. Will get that from now on. You're right. It was a pain in the butt!

    So, did baking the modeling clay harden it? I thought modeling clay stayed workable(doesn't dry out like clay or harden?)

    • @FORESTANDFAWN
      @FORESTANDFAWN  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe because it's from Dollar Tree but this ish melted awayyy so fast 🤣🤣

    • @natashamariani5823
      @natashamariani5823 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Beth, you are correct. modeling clay is a plasticine. Basically, what makes it stay soft is petroleum jelly, which won't dry nor bake hard. You can, how ever, put it on a stack of paper and leach some of the oil out over the course of a couple months to "dry" it out. it will be harder and less flexible. unfortunately, paint will essentially be a short term solution and will lift and curl at edges if it doenst just turn to goo.
      maybe since there are so many lovely colors in this pack, we could try doing the details in layers of colors. I have had pretty good success making teeny snakes and laying them down for detail.
      Sometimes my DT will have Fimo (polymer clay) in random colors. Not a full rainbow though.

    I love your content, I've been following you for a while now! I just wanted to let you know that smudging is a very specific and closed Indigenous American practice. Your herb bundles would be better called smoke cleansing sticks than smudge sticks, out of respect. Blessed be 💗

    • @FORESTANDFAWN
      @FORESTANDFAWN  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use cleansing wands in practice very often and It's made with cedar. An herb I work closely with. I thank you for your comment, but i will continue to make and specifically use them the way I've learned in my practice.
      Something further to note, I often learn and use use my Boriqua tradition when burning smudging. Caribbean Indian culture....
