I did 10k a day awhile back and the biggest takeaway was that people severely underestimate just how many steps 10k, 15, 30k, etc.. actually is. I thought "10k? That's easy!" but working in 10k steps around an already full/busy day is like a second job at times. Definitely worth it though. The sleep was great!
Wow. My exact thoughts. It was easy when I was going to school and had some flexibility. Now that I have a full-time job, it feels much more difficult to get 10k.
yea 10k on average for most people is like 5 miles of walking. At a 20 min pace per mile, you are looking at 100 minutes of straight non stop walking a day. That's a lot ! Even if you speed walk, which when I do I can maybe manage like 15/16min per mile, that is still 80 min of walking a day. Not that people do not have 80 min to spare, but thinking about how much we all get just on average in our daily lives, usually most of us a far below that mark. 30k steps a day is nuts, I could imagine doing this like twice in a row and feeling so so so sore lol, so badass Makari managed to do it for a week.
The people who have this young lady in their life have to be smiling a lot. They have no choice. I smiled the entire video because of her happy disposition. Don't lose that!
Roughly 6 years ago I walked an average of 18,000-33,000 steps a day when I was a valet at a car dealership. This step count and getting in and out of cars all day was so crazy for my health. It was an average of 10 miles every day and I went through a pair of shoes every 2 months! I lost 40 pounds in 5 months and I could eat whatever I wanted. I miss those days and barely get 7,000 steps a day now.
@JQUICK21respectfully disagree with this. Our fore parents walked a lot as that was the norm and look at the health and body composition between their time and ours. The key is sufficient sleep for recovery.
We all need sun air and visual stimulation. An random convos with strangers and connection is ESSENTIAL to life. No matter how antisocial we are becoming as a people. Go outside and do something people. Especially if you feel stuck in your own head all day long. Go relieve yourself.
I came here to say the same thing. Setting up the pic/scene each time then walking back to get your phone…sooooo many steps. Great editing…It didn’t go unnoticed. Greetings from Australia.xx
I am still so impressed by this. This type of undertaking definitely takes a ton of mental fortitude, because the aches and pains definitely don't go away in any sort of hurry. I love your content, how real it is and especially that you aren't trying to sell anything other than living your best, authentic, healthy life. Keep it up, I'm definitely along for the ride!
I walk about 20k steps per day for the last 10 years. I was already medium fit but it took about a year of doing it consistently (but resting whenever injured) until it stopped hurting at all.
I’ve always been annoyed at just how far I have to walk to get 10,000. I live in the city and don’t drive. We moved, but our kid was still attending school where we used to live, I passed two primary schools on the way to pick them up and walk them home every afternoon,. I detoured to go up to the grocery and back down again toward the school. We went past the school to a park if the weather was nice, and I strolled around with other mums, and then back home again finally and , 8200 or so steps, including whatever steps around the house of up to the post office before doing the school and shops walk. I can’t imagine how time consuming walking 30,000 steps would be.
10k steps is the right number but you can keep twice a week an extra like 1 day 20k and maybe Sunday free steps 😅 like a challenge : every time 1k steps extra ... this goal either motivate or kill you 😂😂

I’ve stumbled across your channel and I’m slowly working my way through all your videos. Honestly I’m enjoying them so much. Mixture of feel good and motivation is perfect. Favourite TH-cam channel by a long way. Thank you x
It's so nice that this was something you were able to do with your family! The clips of the three of you on your walk together brought so much joy to the video it was great to watch :)
Last month, I also attempted the 25,000 steps challenge over the past 30 days, and it truly transformed me. This experience changed my mental health, body, and discipline. At the same time, it's very challenging and time-consuming, so it's better to combine this activity with other important tasks (like listening to audiobooks, discussing important matters with colleagues, or listening to podcasts). Have I just found, binge-watched and liked your videos as well as turned on the notification bell? Oh, definitely yes. I've been on this platform for a very long time - watching others doing stuff, but never did I ever like it as much as I like your content. You literally put a smile on my face and encouraged me to do more outside my comfort zone. Thank you and I hope you have a wonderful day 😊
To anyone reading you are so beautiful, don’t compare yourself, you truly make the world way better. Always choose to help the environment and those who have it worse rather than luxury, take care of your psychical and mental health, connect to your inner child, what you dreamed about and chase those dreams💞💞😊
My suggestion as a person who worked in the field of Dietetics is if you start from zero walk 5 minutes every other day and increase very slowly to 15 minutes every other day. Once you can walk 15 minutes without comfortably, then add one day at a time until you can do 15 minutes every day, then increase by 5 minutes until you can do 30 minutes every day. Then continue until you are walking 45 minutes every day. The key to prevent injuries is to start very slowly and to be consistent. It's not sexy, but it helps your body get conditioned and regain mobility while limiting injuries that will keep from exercising for a very long time.
You are awesome. Echoing everything everyone else said here! You’re so positive, sweet with people, an excellent video editor you really get flow, very talented (you’ve already got a children’s book out on the market!! 🤩) and so much more.
I love your style, humor, personality and positivity! Your editing is so funny and makes me smile all the time! I really enjoy watching your videos, keep up and greetings from Holland 💖
Tip for blisters on feet: you can take a sterilized needle, pop them, then soak your feet in an Epsom salt bath for about half an hour. Afterwards dry them off, apply an antiseptic, leave your feet bare for a while, and before you go for your next walk/run, put bandages over the affected areas (moleskin works too apparently, but I've never tried it). I learned this from an old dude at the gym that was a marathon runner, and it works really well for me.
The thing that's improved the most since i started walking 10k a day is definitely sleep & anxiety. It's surprising what benefits light exercice bring not only to physical but also mental health
Your cardio video popped up on my recommended and I loved this one as well! Your editing is awesome, and I love the optimism and humor in it all. Thanks for making such great content!

I just love the way you edit your videos to tell a story. Really enjoyable to watch. Congrats on doing what you set out to do, raising money for a good cause, and making yet another awesome video about it. ☺️
I'm currently trying for 15, 000 steps a day and enjoy watching videos of other people walking. This video is extra enjoyable though as it slowly dawned on me that some of the places you filmed are on my walking routes. Great video, and feeling inspired to up my step count a bit more (30,000 might be a stretch though haha).
I really enjoyed this video and I love that you raised some money for the heart&stroke foundation! I love these healthy lifestyle videos. Although I won’t be walking 30k steps a day, this definitely inspired me to walk more! ☺️
What a great place to walk. All around me are houses, and more houses. Typically i walk about 8k to 10 k everyday. I like to soak my feet every night. Seems to help with the workout they get, and can meditate for 15-20 minutes. Cheers!
You are simply awesome and yes I need to walk more! LOL. I have been mixing up some light weight training 2-3x’s per week with cycling 40-50 kms 2-3x’s per week. Mixing it up helps and living on the East Coast helps me work around the weather…LOL (Rain) Anyway, my biggest challenge is consistency and your comment about walking or whatever with people is a great suggestion!
You're my new favorite and I envy your town. I wish I could get there and keep walking my whole life. So much happiness to see you walk around those beautiful people and surroundings.
I really liked this video! I feel like youre onto something though when you said that what made you feel good is the talking to people part. Maybe the best (for me hardest) challenge would be to smalltalk to people everyday, and socialize more in some way. Great video!
30k/day is a huge undertaking - well done for getting through it! Most I've done in a week was 120k steps (77,657 in a day there running an ultra) and that was tough. Recovery tip: foam rolling and massage gun! Energy levels on day 7 brought a grin to my face!
Such a good video! You really excel at this form of sporty content, however don't let that scare you from trying new things. That's what's so cool about this video, you're trying something new.❤
Found your channel at 1 am this morning and your videos about trying new things and meeting people inspired me to go on a group bike ride and I met some pretty cool people! Big fan of your videos already :)
Enjoyed this video and all the scapes! I lifeguard at a pool and I get-up 20-25K steps easy on a shift. When I was working 4-5 shifts a week it was way too much for my body. Exhausted all the time and my feet just hurt and couldn't seem to recover. 2 shifts is my happy place now. And i wear the Hokas, they are great.
Loved this! In the UK we have the Ramblers Association where for a small annual fee you can walk with groups all over the country. My health and conditioning has improved so much in the 2 years I’ve been walking! I’m still on my exercise for fun roll after your cardio video ❤❤❤

Absolutely lovong your videos! So positive and I love how you showcase your beautiful town :)
Hey thanks! I appreciate it 😄🙌
Thanks for the inspiration!
This video was so wholesome. 😊 I watched the whole thing and didn’t even skip forward. 👏🏽👏🏽🏃🏽♀️
Yaaaaas. Thanks Dana! :)
You're my new favorite and I envy your town. I wish I could get there and keep walking my whole life. So much happiness to see you walk around those beautiful people and surroundings.
you have an infectious personality, i think i am going to stick in here for some while
She's so happy, it makes me smile
The great video title made me watch this, and I’m glad I did! Going to watch a few more of your videos.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! 😄
I really liked this video! I feel like youre onto something though when you said that what made you feel good is the talking to people part. Maybe the best (for me hardest) challenge would be to smalltalk to people everyday, and socialize more in some way. Great video!
Hey thanks Julia! :)
30k/day is a huge undertaking - well done for getting through it! Most I've done in a week was 120k steps (77,657 in a day there running an ultra) and that was tough. Recovery tip: foam rolling and massage gun!
Energy levels on day 7 brought a grin to my face!
Hey thanks! :) and I looooovveee a good foam role 😍
Such a good video! You really excel at this form of sporty content, however don't let that scare you from trying new things. That's what's so cool about this video, you're trying something new.❤
Thanks Rebecca - I really appreciate this comment 🥹❤
Found your channel at 1 am this morning and your videos about trying new things and meeting people inspired me to go on a group bike ride and I met some pretty cool people! Big fan of your videos already :)
Inspiring and not at all boring video.love your energy.15k is sufficient,i feel.thanks🙏🏻
This was a joy to watch ❤ your smile and personality never fails to make me giggle and smile myself, much love and amazing work!! 😊
Thank yoooouuu 🥹 I’m glad you enjoyed it 🥰
Enjoyed this video and all the scapes!
#teamhoka
And dang thats impressive!!
We all need an energized 24/7 smiling gf like her , hope u continue being like that all ur life stay safe
Loved this! In the UK we have the Ramblers Association where for a small annual fee you can walk with groups all over the country. My health and conditioning has improved so much in the 2 years I’ve been walking! I’m still on my exercise for fun roll after your cardio video ❤❤❤
What an interesting concept! Fabulous way to meet people from all over the world! I might give that a thought to start back here in Canada!
Love your videos and humor so much😂😊
Makari i’m so grateful yt introduced me to you. You are so refreshing to watch!!
I'm grateful you're here! Thank you for the kind words ❤🙌
I just did it yesterday Makari. All time best 35K average including 62K steps on August 28th. Proud of myself.
So glad I found your videos. I’m loving the content and feeling inspired
I love to hear it. Thanks Courtney! :)
Thanks for mentioning that you Doom Scroll. It’s something I’ve fallen victim to and really want to switch up this newer behavior.
Did I just watch this video and then proceed to watch every single video on your channel in one go? Yes. Yes I did. Please make more to feed my new found addiction lolol. 😂❤
