My first night flight lesson with a bunch of landings. It's such a different feeling flying at night!

Co-worker of mine who retired last year been a pilot and owned a 182 for over 20 years had just gotten his panel replaced he had been playing with the software all day got dark. He texted his wife he was going up for one more flight hit power lines on final was killed last Christmas. The airport he was at was known for these power lines to be there they were unlighted at 100 feet but 1/2 miles from the runway no one knows why he was so low. I used to talk to him about flying he had good number of hours over 2000 but I got the sense that he worked lot had no time to fly most of his hours were spread over many years. What's ironic is the power lines were owned by the company which we worked for he retired from after 33 years of doing engineering work there. He could have been involved in the installation of those wires from the engineering side. Some country's don't allow night VFR I think Mexico is like that all night flights have to be IFR.

Sorry to hear that. I haven’t flown a single night flight since the required time for my training. I do not intend to fly single engine VFR at night. As I proceed into my instrument and further training, I may reevaluate.
