Quite amazing how up until 1997 or about things were relatively tame... and then they started cramming all the buttons and electronics onto them that they could. In hindsight, that 1989 wheel is like.... waaaaay ahead of it's time. Whodathunkit?
I still come back to this video every once in awhile just because it’s so good, especially with headphones. 0:58 definitely gives me chills. Hits so perfectly.
You guys need to do more vids like this one. It's perfect how the music and the back ground noise just mixes together. Not only are you learning but relaxing all in one. Love it.
wtf is kers ? notice i said the driver had ALL the control... driving by the seat of his pants, reading a pit box board on the way by, finessing a degrading machine to the finish, that sort of thing, You are right though, the modern driver does still ultimately push those buttons and flip them switches... and do as he's told, his machine even rats him out now when he makes a mistake. That's progress for ya ! Thanks for pointing out my weak reasoning and use of the english language. I'll try to do better when making comments from here on in.
Well, while it's true the race engineer tells the driver quite a lot regarding the health of the car, lap times, optimal strategy etc. it's still up to the driver to manage the car, tyres, fuel and produce lap times as fast as possible (ultimately faster than anyone). You can argue the driver doesn't have the same control over the car as in the past but you can't argue the driver had all the control back then. The cars back then and today are so vastly different you can't compare how they are controlled. Modern F1 drivers are just as good drivers as the oldtimers. They are still pushing the technology they have available to the limit. That's F1 for ya! BTW, sorry, not kers, just ers these days. My bad.
This video gave me _all_ the moody/optimistic feels when it came out. It really motivated me to work on my cars, and I feel like it's partly responsible for me having gone to my first track night recently.
I just found you guys, gals. Holy cow the presentation is awesome in these videos. The gritty variety of materials and textures in the videos, the historic retrospectives and the modern touch to how it's all put together is phenomenal! Fresh, happy subscriber here. Thanks for this nice little treasure trove of bite sized racing history.
"There is no compromise, you give everything you have. Everything, absolutely everything. And sometimes you find more, because it requires more if you want to win."

@@03opelcorsa they could have made it 7 minutes, give more information and keep it short, or they could've just skipped the ones that were just normal wheels
This song doesn't feel complete without the background voices, roaring engines, and ayrton senna's chilling quote. It has that charm to it.
I agree.. it brings it 100%

'Ay. AYYYY, C'mon, bring him the gloves! Yeah Yeah yeah, steering wheel and gloves! MOVE' 😂

Also his power
The Schumi wheel with the Casio watch tacked on is hilarious. Great vid
exactly my thought, it looks like a $0.99 stopwatch lol
They would sometimes put those watches on the F1 vehicles in order for the driver to track the time.

Around that time the FIA banned pit to car telemetry. So all changes were relegated to being made by the driver, by instructions from pit engineers.
Empty Box I really love the look of the '89 Berger wheel. It looks forward while staying in it's time

Empty Box tbh I don’t like berger’s wheel....I like the simple round ones like senna’s 84 one. Looks awesome with that red thing in the middle

I love these series. Can't wait for the next Evolution video. Maybe Racing belts, seats, shoes or overalls?
Also, the money I would give for Sennas steering wheel - OMG. SO MUCH WANT!!!!
Davids Kruze senna's overalls and helmet would cost just short of £100,000

Crazy how different all the wheels where through the 90's
Golden era of automotive engineering!
Sayed Studios no the 70s were better when it came to experimenting.
Wrong Sayed. 60's to 80's where. The speed, the knowledges about aerodynamic, about engine dynamics, about safety, ect... all came from then.
