Devin, this is a fantastic fly. I made one with the material that I had available at home. This afternoon I went fishing in my neighborhood creek. I casted 4 time and pulled 3 trouts. Thank you very much for your video.
I am really starting to like pink accents on nymphs in general. I fished tandem Frenchies, one with a pink collar and one without and got strikes probably 3 to 1 on the pink one. I swapped them top for bottom and got the same results. Pink is power! I really like this Space -X nymph. Seems like attractor nymphs aren’t used to their fullest because we’re always trying to imitate natural insects but I’m a fan of gaudy, busy, ugly nymph attractors like your creation. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder anyway. Well done Angler.
Devin, as a follower of your site and TH-cam channel and a former SpaceX employee I love the name of this fly. I almost feel like it was made for me. Thanks again!
Useful tip from Tim Flagler video. Clip hackle pliers to perdigon body before putting back on the bench and it will be easier to find it on the bench when you need it.
Great video Devin. I may have to get some of the stuff for it. The quilldigon has been smashing fish as of lately. I use the perdigon tinsel in fl orange to make my butt on it then tie my thread in. I got most of my fish on it today
Awesome looking fly (as always), but unrelated question, what net is that hanging in the intro part? My old faithful just officially broke (el cheapo frabill) so I've been looking for my replacement!
Thanks, I've had great luck with the Blow Torch, I'm looking forward to giving this one a try. I was wondering if you would alter this pattern at all if you were tying it in size 20 ? Thanks a lot.
I don’t really tie them smaller than a 16 or 18 as it’s an attractor pattern. I typically fish mayfly, midge, or sow/scud patterns in 20s but not tag nymphs.
Love your videos. Learning a lot. Question about this. I fish hot spots and uv tags on many flies i fish through summer and fall. You mentioned you have success with this is winter. Interesting. Im sure its well used year round too for you? I'm looking of spring patterns too and wanted to start making this. and this looks good. I also like your blowtorch. So what time of year do you most frequently fish the space x and blowtorch? Thanks for putting out the best stuff (New to fly fishing and new to tying)
Alex, I fish this in the winter when the water is cold to generate a reaction but the Blowtorch does that as well. Other than that, I prefer the Space-X when the water in tannin stained or slightly off color because it cuts a bold silhouette in the water for the fish to see. In other all around conditions, I usually fish a peacock or hare's ear Blowtorch.
Tag nymphs have been slaying for me in every river or stream I fish. I've discovered that smallmouth even like them. I will try this one out too.
Tag nymphs are definitely my favorite style of attractor nymph. They have so much pulling power.

Glad it worked for you!

Another masterpiece!
All of your patterns are producers and I am sure this one will not disappoint.
Masterpiece might be a bit too kind but at least the trout like it :)
Nice tip from Tim Flagler video. Clip hackle pliers too that perdigon that we all can lose
That's a cool looking fly - gonna make a few of those in different weights and try them out.
Hopefully the Irish trout will take a liking to them.
@@tacticalflyfisher3817 If they like them as much as they like the blowtorch it will work brilliantly 😊
Thanks Devin, nice pattern! :)
Thanks for watching
Another great tie Devin! Been hitting the Tactical website for some stuff it's always fast and great quality.
Thanks Gary!

Glad to hear the Quilldigon is working for you. This is certainly a good time of year for it.
I like this one
Thankfully the trout often agree.

Il love your flies. They work great for me. Do you typically use slotted beads on your flies even if you are not tying on a jig hook?
I use slotted or inverting beads for all my river flies.
Love it! Do you always use the light dun or tan cdc on this? Ever fish/tie it with black cdc? TIA🍻
I do always use naturalish colors. It's worth trying black as well though I'm sure.
たしか、「ドラゴン」というフライパターンがあったような?バーブレス・フックは紳士の証ですね。Is it true that there was a fly pattern called "dragon"? Barbless hook is a proof of a gentleman.
On Clear Creek in CO your blowtorch has been destroying. Same with Umpqua's Tungsten Goldie. Come you do a video on that?
I haven't seen the tungsten goldie. I'll have to look into that.
The Tungsten Goldie is a fly pattern by Umpqua fly manager Brian Schmidt, and if you search TH-cam, there’s videos of the pattern.
Sick!
Happy tying!
Will these be for sale through the online fly shop?
They will be in 2022 once Umpqua releases them in that year's catalog.
What sort of hook is that? Looks like a nice wide gape. Are they strong?
Iwww.tacticalflyfisher.com/dohiku-hdn-302-sp-jig-nymph-hook/
It is a strong hook in my experience.
Great video awesome fly hitting web site to get hooks

Let your son name your flies More often! I love the name!!!
Oh it’s supposed to be Elon’s favorite fly.
