1. Of course metallics are a neutral! They’re like jewelry with an outfit.
2. The colors are blending in amazing ways today - so beautiful to watch.
3. Isn’t it amazing that we could all start off with the same color palette and we’d all lean into the colors differently and get very different results.

I just got myself a Kakimori brass nib and would love to find out all the things you’ve discovered when using this tool. Love your free spirit approach to art making. ❤
Fun!! It comes with oils on it so I cleaned mine with some tooth paste to start. That way it will hold ink. Works best too when the ink is fresher. I have discovered when using it with older ink that has thickened up it acts a bit cranky! Good luck!! 😊
Beautiful! I thought at first that I would never think to put these colors together, but they are the colors of a fall landscape where I live (Midlantic region of the East Coast).
That lavender gray/dove gray color - Daniel Smith has a paint called Moonglow that is very close. Maybe slightly more purple than gray. But when I saw the initial palette, that's the color that came to mind.

Hey Denise! I barely started watching this but have to comment. I'm sure you have heard of people saying "I'm an old soul" well I am an old soul and it just clicked with me that I LOVE all the patterns in your book and the colors that you showed us today. They are all mostly vintage. All my faves! I have an old drapery in a spare room that reminds me of this book. The old fabrics were heavy and well made. That's why my drape is still beautiful and it useful. It's from the 50's. Like me!😂😂🥰

I`ve done similar creations in the past, also including movements of the work of known artists. But with the years I`ve become so involved in other art that I totally got off the path of enjoying art.

The book is intriguing and the paintings perfect. Your painting style is right up my alley and I love that you talk about using whatever medium you have to get the colors..I already have a plan to gather everything I have accumulated (chalks, paints, inks, etc.) and play when I get home from vacation. I laughed at the chatty friend story. Normally, I can be a couch potato but when I'm on the phone, I need to get up and do something. One day while talking to a friend, we both ended up cleaning our houses...it was a long conversation.
I clean up around the house too when I on the phone 😂😂😂
You are right about the Fixative. One of my greatest Disappointment in all of my Art work , the outcome after i sprayed a fixative. Ohhh i wanted to sue … that much i was angry and frustrated ..it totaly destroyed my painting. Never used it since.
I found out the hard way too! Now I do tests on samples if it is something important! 😊
Hi Denise! I love your channel and have binged everything! Now I'm watching all videos again! I am bipolar and when I'm depressed I have no creativity. I usually have a low lying depression at all times. I still have the urge to create and find it frustrating because I'm not capable of creating. Your art is just what I needed! There are no expectations or stress over how it is going to come out. How you start out is genius, just scribble to get rid of the blank page! I turn into a child and just have pure joy playing and don't have a care in the world! I love your infectious joy when you do something cool! Your laugh is just like mine, you either love it or hate it, I love yours! I hope you stay in this phase for awhile. Love you, love the channel! Keep up the great job!

These colors are amazing! I just wanted to say thank you for sharing that you get sweaty from still life. I have done that and I’m like what’s up with that?! Lol. I get so intent on things that I don’t know that talking to someone while I’m painting will work…but I will try it to see. Yay, I’m gonna play today! 😊

I get the precut mats at Michaels, I’ve seen them at hobby lobby and Blick too. You might check anywhere local that does or has in stock frames. 😊
The color palette today was amazing! I loved it. And I loved the way you used the mica gold ink today too; a bit chunky and messy. Came out fabulous!

Great project! Would mod podge work on the oil pastels instead of fixative spray?
Not something I’ve ever tried. Mod podge is water based. I’m not sure that would work on the oil pastels. Kinda sounds like painting water based paint over oil based paint. Doesn’t work for that.

Thank you Denise. I too love to use metallic paint & I have quite a few. I’m about to create some Christmas cards, which I will have printed. My question is - will the metallic sheen show up when the designs are professionally printed? Any tips?
I don’t think the metallic comes out printed. You might just have to go in and hand embellish the prints. Or talk to your printer, maybe they have some secret to making it work? 😊

Hey Denise, was wondering if you ever tried Qor watercolors, since you enjoy gouache and bold colors so much. I just used the ones from Paletteful pack and I am in LOVE!
I got those in paletteful this month too!! I haven’t tried them yet. I didn’t like my neon green sketchbox… I saw a sneak peek on social media… and thought - ick… haha… so I didn’t do the unboxing for those. I’ll have to get those out and play!! 😊

That is a porcelain plate (was a set of 4) from TJMaxx... I think it is for hors d'oeuvres. I think I have shown them in an art haul - I love looking at the kitchen plate areas in stores for interesting white plates to use for painting. 😊
