    Robert Berdella was an American serial killer who kidnapped, tortured, and murdered at least six young men after having forced them to endure periods of up to six weeks of captivity.His crimes took place in Kansas City, Missouri, between 1984 and 1987. Describing his murders as being "some of my darkest fantasies becoming my reality", Berdella pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for the first-degree murder of one of his victims, Larry Pearson, in August 1988, and would later plead guilty to one further charge of first-degree murder, and four charges of second-degree murder in December 1988. He died of a heart attack while incarcerated at the Missouri State Penitentiary in October 1992. Berdella became known as the "Kansas City Butcher" due to his practice of extensively dissecting his victims' bodies, which he would then dispose of in garbage bags, and "The Collector" due to the movie which he stated was the basis of the fantasies behind the modus operandi of his crimes.

    Scott. I went to art school in KC for one year and saw this guy at his shop a couple of times. He gave me the CREEPS. Big time. I had a visceral reaction and wanted to vomit. I worked in a restaurant in downtown KC. My fellow waiter, a lovely gay man, got a call one night at work from the police who had just arrested his neighbor Bob. They wanted to take a peek in my friend’s back yard. Later, we learned about the horrendous crimes. It was shocking, but I was not surprised that it was him. My friend never suspected anything and was surprised when I told him my previous observation of Bob. I can barely watch this video.

    One thing about psychopaths: The story is always about them, not about the public making fun, not about the media getting it wrong about diaries, always about them. He wants the public to have a set in stone opinion about him, a set in stone image of him that cannot change or deviate.
    What we have here is deviation from the narrative he portrays and he hates it because these are his murders, his image and life that is getting twisted.

    @thebehaviorpanel , love it when y'all highlight what interviewers are doing well and what you would do differently if you were in their position. Greg and Chase often refer to techniques they've used during past interrogations. If there are any videos of them that are available to be used, it would be fascinating to see them in action! It would be interesting to hear commentary and insight into their process during a recorded interview/interrogation but also lessons learned from hindsight and experience since. It would be brilliant to see the analysis from all 4 of you with one of your own in the interviewer position.

    He’s right about how the media (& most of society) portrays killers as monsters rather than humans- this is very dangerous for adults & kids, thinking that a dangerous person looks & acts like a monster all the time, it causes people to allow people like him to go unnoticed & allows them to be trusted. It’s like the idiotic “stranger danger” they used to teach kids, it makes them trust people they know & relatives, when those are the people who are the FIRST ones to hurt children- not strangers.

    • @JenniferElliott-ve8pj
      @JenniferElliott-ve8pj หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tlindsay1007 It's standard of care (in Canada) for doctors to prescribe prenatal vitamins and discuss the importance of good nutrition during pregnancy. As for advising about higher doses of vitamin D, that seems to be within their discretion but is not standard protocol. Also informed expectant mother's can request a vit D serum test to screen their levels and identify if additional supplementation is indicated. But this is not generally offered as part of the prenatal work up.
      Since the main purpose of adequate vit D serum levels is to support the mother's immune system to protect her against viral infections I wonder if it would be beneficial for expectant mother's to wear a mask when out and about during cold and flu season?

    Wow guys this creature was a fascinating study. The only "almost human" reaction I saw in him was when asked about what might happen to him in prison. For just one moment a slight catch in his voice, an almost lip quiver, a momentary increase in moisture in the eyes, and that flash of the eyes...that was fear. Fear for himself when he realizes that he will now be the prey and not the predator. He will now be the tortured and abused. He will be without power and that one thing terrifies him. And even in that he could not fully connect. That's why I say "almost human" emotion. Almost...almost...but not quite.

    Speaking of Rich Corinthian Leather, my parents had an upholstery shop and there's a synthetic fabric called Naugahyde. Made to look like leather, but cheaper, easier to clean etc. The brand had a little "nauga beast" mascot cartoon guy, from which the faux hydes ostensibly came.
