You are right the Tundra has seen some turbo wastegate issues but I have faith that Toyota will have some of that corrected soon, but then honestly there is nothing better in the Ram, Ford, or GM stables. The Tacoma is up there as well but for a more affordable option, the Maverick could work too.
@ECPP Glad to see you're continuing on with the channel, we look forward to your content. The Nissan Frontier is an excellent option, looks, feels and drives like a truck, easy to work on and naturally aspirated. No fancy gimmicks but enough tech. It's not the best midsize truck, but it does everything competently which is what Nissan was looking for.
Interesting that this video is about 2024 cars you recommend but when talking about the Honda Pilot you show the previous version whose last model year was 2022. The new Pilot that came out for 2023 is way better looking and definitely on my list of cars to own!
The newest Defenders are very cool vehicles. A few troubles along the way, but generally a cool SUV. People drive those to have something unique and truly legendary. I also own an F Type so even with challenging mechanicals, the right car can be interesting as long as you know what you are getting. Into.
The Japanese brands (except for any Nissan) are always a good choice for long term ownership, that is, post warranty. But an extended warranty (a good one not purchased from some shy lock company with celebrity endorsement) on any new vehicle that a reputable franchised dealer will stand by, should give piece of mind for purchase the more luxury European brands whose maintenance and longevity are reputed to be troublesome with age. Personally, as we have become older, and drive to the supermarket and local home improvement store, our boring and bland Toyotas are fine and cost effective with consumable maintenance items like oil and filter changes (every 4K miles).
Well I know plenty of people who had some crap Toyotas and Hondas and a great experience with Nissan so what gives? I still drive my 2004 Titan daily, its been a wonderful ride compared to the GM twins I have owned.
Any car can give problems, some Toyotas and Hondas burned oil like crazy. We had a Pathfinder, great vehicle, no issues. The CVT trans in Nissan passenger cars, with the history of the Jatco transmissions, a hard pass on those. @@NovemberMan69
