    My daughter died from fentanyl poisoning in November 2022. She had been a meth addict for 5 years and was 34 years old. In 2018 I took my other 3 kids and we looked for her at 1:00 in the morning when we were told she was out hitchhiking. We found her and took her to get something to eat and to a motel.
    I got her into a rehab, but she ran away with a truck driver before going in. I told her this was the last time she would see us until she got her drug problem under control.
    She told me "I don't have a drug problem. You have a problem with me doing drugs, so it's your problem...not mine."
    Truer words were never said by her..

      I'm so sorry for your loss. The drug problem is rampant and needs to get under control. I feel so bad for parents today. Unless the user wants to get clean it doesn't matter what anyone does!! It won't work. Our country needs to get tougher on laws on the drug cartels and dealers.With our country being wide open to come through, we will not win the war on drugs. We need to close the borders. 😢

    This is the most empathetic I’ve seen any law enforcement be about drug issues. Some of the things he mentions are not even taught to most people let alone police.
    Him talking about co-occurring problems and case management blew my mind. This guy is amazing. I hope this guy continues to work on this issue, and will get more support from the community, state, and country.

    • @kristenrose1345
      @kristenrose1345 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not true. You only have a window time of 20 mins to save someone from an overdose shortly after they use.
      Narcan wasn't made for fentanyl. It was made for heroin. My brother died from a Fentanyl overdose in my mom's home, She found him. By the time she found him it was clearly too late. By the time they shoot the fentanyl into their veins they can overdose and die within 5 mins. They think they are sleeping. They're not. They literally stop breathing and their heart stops beating. It's so sad and fast how it happens. This could have been my brother.
      Everything about the fentanyl crisis right now is fucked up and nothing about what we're doing to help drug addicts is making them want to get treatment.

      How much demand for drugs is created by Narcan? When someone dies of an overdose, they no longer demand drugs. It seems to me Narcan is just prolonging the inevitable.
      After being saved by Narcan, they just buy more drugs and give more profits to the drug dealers. That is the curse.

      @@michelero4297yeah but that doesn’t happen here in Florida. What happens instead is we lock them up just to reoffend 30 times. If you lock them up and throw away the key then you have overcrowding problems. We should offer mandatory treatment in exchange of prison time for a drug related offense.
      As for the border issue I actually have a masters degree in criminal investigations and wrote my thesis on the methamphetamine epidemic in Pasco County (same premise, Mexicans smuggling it across the border). What I found was land border crossings were actually not the main method of transportation to Florida. It’s actually sea crossings from the Gulf of Mexico as the Sinaloa cartel owns Mexico City and various cities on the eastern side of the continent.

    • @D007-u8e
      @D007-u8e 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. It should mean 6 months in a lock-down rehab! That’s how long it takes to clean them up & get into their heads they can’t go back to their dope using “friends” & ways! Your 90 days in jail doesn’t cut it and they can still get dope in jails. A female deputy here was busted on camera stealing the inmates meds off the med cart! She was using and selling dope also.

      @@captainjackson6135 I'm blaming people in charge for holding no one accountable for there actions . Coming from a 30 year alcoholic and a 5 year drug addiction and if I was coght and or found out and held accountable for my actions maybe I would have had more time to do the right things in life . You would have to be uneducated to believe it's one person's fault. Look at society as a hole , is there any accountability Captain?

      Could just be force of habit. Law enforcement agencies always use these identifying characteristics on calls, reports, etc. I do find it slightly strange that it was mentioned within a press conference, but then again, this is how they typically identify suspects/victims. I don't think there's any malicious intent in his words.

    You need a judge who will keep these people in jail going to AA meetings where are there any kick it out until the people running the AA program says that They can leave, but it may take up to a year and sometimes a little more but you can’t get them off the drugs. go because of they go back to the second I get out of jail if the jail term is only 30 days.
