- The @RandallsAdventureESEE Xancudo is a heck of a knife and should be carried by more people. The handle color was the only thing that kept me from truly treating it as an EDC. Well...that is now not an issue due to the fact someone finally stepped up to the plate and started making custom scales for it, like what has already been made for years for the other knives in the ESEE stable. #knives

I think I will try the xancudo again. I had one a while back and sold it but I don’t remember why, probably being dumb. I have a love/hate relationship with the White River Backpacker. Love the magnacut steel offering and blade shape but the choil digs into the finger when pushing hard. The xancudo scales should help
Just looked at the Backpacker and yep...I can see how that choil can be a bummer. I would definitely not like that one. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Nope, I did not mention. Since I really don't endorse anyone, I left that part out. If they were to catch on that I'm the same guy that keeps buying them from them, and they asked me to mention them, then I'd be happy to. But they do not put a brand on them.
You could probably dye those scales with rit dye.

I like the Blaze Orange on the ESEE 3 and 4. I actually have one of each. But, I also have them with other scales when I'm not traipsing around in the woods and don't need to be concerned with losing them.

Yes, I have used the PR4 and subsequently sold it. Although the handle looks cool, with all the texturing, it comes in rather thin. I put on custom scales and that helped. But, I never bonded with it and returned to the ESEE 3. For me, it does all that is needed.

I find the texturing uncomfortable with hard use, I'm ok with the thin handle although that could also be part of the problem with hard use.
@@knifetimestory The PR4 is the only esee I own. Never really looked at the esee 3. The Xancudo looks very interesting to me.

Not sure what your purposes will be. But...I've found the 3 to be darn near perfect for just about everything and indispensable.

In a pinch yes. But I'd not want to have to sit for any long period. You would definitely have to cut the end of the sheath off like I do though.
