A couple of years later, we had a loader and we were contracting up to 50,000 square bales a summer in Australia up to 40°C. Hot, damn hot.

Great camera shots from all over the place ! I had to hang on pretty tight when I was underneath the trailer. When you went through that gate where I was watching, you almost ran over my foot !
what a terrible coincidence, my JD baler let me down yesterday evening and i had to call in a friend of mine to finish getting my hay up before it rained. i blowed the end packing out of one of the lift gate cylinders, what a mess, hydraulic fluid everywhere.....pulled it off last night and dropped it off at Block & Chip (our local machine shop) last night at 10 and he had it fixed and ready to go at 8 am this morning (love those guys, they never let you down). will be putting the cylinder back on tonight and waiting for our next break in the weather to cut some more hay down. all the fields are ready to cut but the weather has not been in our favor.....50% rain chances every day for the rest of the month. Gotta love these dog days of summer.
Always a joy watching you hard workers Thank you ! If people in the other states would work hard too, instead of destroying things we would be doing good. Aloha again GOD BLESS
LOL! I laughed at Brian "conceiving the baby bale" because all last year we were trying to count and keep track of how many round bales we had for feed and there was one "baby" bale. It got to be a daily thing for us as we drove by and would come up with daily commentary directed at the baby and the momma bales. We farmer/rancher folk have our own very warped senses of humor right? LOL! That and well, you just have to do something to keep the daily grind FUN! Heres to the momma bales that occasionally grant us the opportunity for some fun during hay season!
Nice Drone shots. It's nice to see how close you two are, working side by side. You two are very lucky,Father and Son bond. You have a great future ahead of you. Be safe, keep them vid coming!!
You two crack me up! I see my boys in Cole when he does some of the crazy stuff like wearing the sunglasses upside down. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do to keep yourself entertained. 💕
Cole, your videos just get better and better - no joke! I have two (2) questions for you. (1) Why do you stack bales just one high? (2) What are the current market values of one round alfalfa bale and one round grass bale, assuming the buyer picks them up from your location. I have never, ever heard any farm channel ( and I follow a lot of farm channels ) mention a price per bale on the local market.
@@briansonne814 I look forward to the videos Brian. I enjoy watching them. Very interesting, very entertaining and wouldn't imagine not watching until the end. I'm all in!!
Have really enjoy your videos. A long time ago I tried making it in farming, but things didn't work out. No doubt your dad has done a great job of managing and growing your farm. Happy to see Cole is going into farming and he and his dad are working together to keep the family farm going for a long time into the future.
When I haul hay for my friend, we end up going at least 25 miles to deliver the stuff. That gets monotonous. I had horses until this May (2021). We did round bales and I put in 20 foot gates at my farm just so I had room on either side. It paid off but then I decided to sell the horses. Time to go traveling to the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and other cool places ! If we are near by and you need help hauling hay, let me know. *grin*. I LOVE your neighbors ! They bale for you in a pinch, they come with their tanker trailer and hose down fires in your fields ! That is SO heartwarming ! Truly the warm fuzzy feeling. As I said in another TH-cam of yours, true Americana at its best !
I have done my fair share of picking up bales. You really need a quick hitch for the tractor and wagon, you don't ever have to get out and you can move around the field so you don't have to haul the bales to the wagon. Saves tons of time and wear and tear on your knees.
Nice video bud, and as for tomorrow I will be doing round bales myself. This past week I have done 1400 square bales and 20 round bales, I feel your pain.
Another great video. On a serious note, the John Deere shouldn't be overheating so much. Have you checked the head gasket or maybe clogged injectors? Those are pretty common causes. Of course, if that doesn't work, try filling the radiator with Busch Lite and drinking the coolant instead. It probably wont hurt the radiator and the coolant will taste a lot better than the Busch Lite.
I appreciate the fore-thought process involved in camera placement to document this complex process i came away feeling educated thank you major rick in davenport Iowa
For your bale trailer, you should look at the Agri-Speed hitch from Bergman. They are the best thing so you don’t have to get out to put the tongue up and pin in. We used to use them on our gravity wagons, before the grain carts, and still use it all the time on the hay flat bed.
You should get Ariat footwear to sponsor you. They sponsor Lumnah Acres and give a 10% discount to Lumnah viewers. You should get that too! You gave Ariat a great compliment.
We move our bales with a flatbed semi trailer. We can move 45 bales at a time. We load then with our johndeere 6140 m with grapple bucket. I used to work on a custom bailing outfit. We supplied mushroom farms and dairies with wheat and oat straw. 4'X8' squares. I called myself leaving one morning to deliver a load that I had stacked the day before. I kept breaking the hoist pin on the bed of the Haying Mantis truck I was running to stack it. When I got into the dairy with a load I found out why I kept breaking the hoist pin. What was normally a 80,000 lb., was close to 100,000. Moisture is everything in your business. feast or famine. I hope the markets are treating your family fairly. We love that you guys share days with us. Great Vidya gents. Thanks for letting us observe your fellowship. Keep on truckin. Cheers.
