That spout that Mike is talking about is also used for sprinkling water on shirts. The shirts were washed and then soaked in starch. Put into the icebox overnight. Heat up the iron. Lay the shirts on the ironing board. Sprinkle the water from the coke bottle on the shirt as you iron. Your shirts are nicely stiff. But wearable. I remember doing that. 😊
Sweet! My mom had a sprinkler top for bottles, like Mike was describing, but she used it for water, to wet the fabric before ironing. It helped get a crisp finish on linen and cotton.
My grandmother had an old huge 7 up bottle with a sprinkler to see used for ironing. The last time I remember seeing it was in the late 60s, but she used it when my mom was a child, so it dated to probably the 40s or 50s.

The tiny blue bottle marked VICKS is probably vapor oil for clearing the sinuses based on Vick's Vapor Rub. Neat bottles. Somehow I missed this video, so just catching up.

i think beau was buried in a bottle avalanche and has spent the past week surviving on the remnants of 1930s garbage. when he emerges he will be a mole man, able to tunnel through artifact layers with ease.

Bizarrely I found a 7-up bottle (only 10 oz) at an estate sale yesterday with a sprinkler top! Weird coincidence!
