Balenciaga made a football boot. Its price, $725! If you're familiar with designer brands, maybe the price isn't all that shocking, but if you're familiar with football boots, what Balenciaga have made is the equivalent of a $20 Walmart boot! It's that bad.
In this video I share my overall thoughts and opinions on Balenciaga entering the football boot world, talk about why they're so expensive, as well as take a closer look at their first, and hopefully last, attempt at making a football boot. Hi, currently studying fashion design and thought i might offer a bit of insight. Balenciaga's creative director Demna Gvesalia was born in Georgia and moved to Germany at a young age. His whole "thing" is that his work is heavily influenced by late 90s/early 00s fashion (or even anti-fashion). Most of his collections are reminiscient of eastern bloc/euro dress sense. What im trying to say is that this boot isnt something he would expect people to play football in. Its more of an homage to his youth. That being said im not a big fan of his work and these shoes are overpriced.

How about a review on the Charly PFX Gignac boots their retail price is $119.99 and look pretty good quality. They do rip off the Mercurial AG soleplate but other then that look pretty good.

The purpose of this shoe is to raise Balenciaga brand awareness and get people talking about them...which it has arguably achieved. Very effective advertising/marketing that Balenciaga has done with numerous products in the past
Come to think of this, they look a lot like boots from the the classic Mexican brand "Manriquez." From the design to the colorway, except Manriquez actually makes theirs out of leather, while the 700 euro ones are made of plastic that cost less than a euro to make
