Adidas is producing some unbelievable football boots at the moment, with the Predator 24 and X Crazyfast being two of the most popular choices amongst consumers. But what about the Copa? It gets next to no marketing attention from Adidas, and admittedly isn't the style of football boot that tends to be popular these days, but does that really make it 3rd place in the Adidas line up? Are ignoring one of the best boots of 2024?
In today's video we take a closer look at the new Energy Citrus colorway of the Adidas Copa Pure 2+, easily the most underrated model within the Adidas brand. We discuss what makes them so good, what I'm not as big a fan of, and where these actually rank amongst not just Adidas' other offerings, but all the other most popular football boots currently on the market.

Oh boy don't let that Iranian coach watch this video
That guy shows up everywhere on my TH-cam
lmaooo don’t get dishwasher gloves, get copa sense
😂😂😂
Isn't he Arabian or so? 😂😂
He's all about copa 😂😂
“My friend…my friend”
This colorway is class
Hey Josh, can you make an updated version of the top (best) Match Balls? SELECT, NIKE, ADIDAS, ULSPORT, MITRE
Was expecting a pair of ASICS… classic josh
I had a pair of these boots last year. The touch you get on the ball is second to none. But the fatal mistake is that I ordered true to size and it should've been half size down because of the toe box length. It messed up with my ankle lockdown when changing directions in acute angles. Unfortunately (or fortunately), the upper tore off from the sole plate and I had a warranty replacement for a brand new pair of Predators :P
Were you playing on FG or AG? If it was AG, I'm surprised Adidas honoured the warranty? How long did the boots last you?
They remind me of kakas adipure 2 from his first season @ Real Madrid 09/10
Copas been my favourite boots since they came back
Amazing color combo with the socks 😮
I have Copa pure plus and it’s one of the best football boot I ever played with
I have the Copa Pure 2 Elite AG (with standard tongue, not the +)
they are also incredible... It's the same as this except for the sock thing...
Best boots I ever had.. I believe Josh that the + is better but AG was a priority for me and found them in a good price... Very happy
In my opinion, the Copa Pure.1 was the better boot in terms of overall fit and pliability of the upper. The midfoot feels different/stiffer on this new model. However what keeps me away from those boots is the material. It's nowhere near a leather like the Mizuno Morelia or Copa Mundial offers. It's rather a thin leather "coat" on top of some kind of layer material and gets destroyed very easily.
My 20.1 started to peel on the tip of the toenbox just after a few wears
I’ve been weighing up between these and the Mizuno Morelia Neo in the last week or so as I’m needing new boots. This is just the review I needed. Great as always Josh.
I think mizunos are probably better.
@@victorrangel14 I think you’re right and this review cleared up the few questions I did have remaining having not been able to check the newest Copa out in the flesh yet myself. I think adidas would be hard pushed to create a boot as good as the Copa 20.1 that has been a firm favourite for me in recent years.
@@victorrangel14hi, what about the cheap and AG version of both? which should i get?
Bro lotto has some of the goat boots right now those boots kinda remind me of the goat adi pure and f-50 mixture feature adi pure 2013 and stud pattern f-50 2008 or 2007
For me and my feet the best boots. And cheap in Germany, you can find the Copa pure 2 elite for 130-160€
in Which website i can found for 130€?
Hey Josh would you choose this or the Nike Tiempo Legend 9 ?
i think josh sleeps with his tiempo legends 9 on. he always plugs them and always says theyre the best
Really frustrating that they don't do a proper AG version. Even the older colourways only had ag for the ivory colour which looked like vomit, and it was only available for the 2.1 not the plus. Really don't understand. Most people are playing on AG. Who are these for?
you're making good points but in the wrong forum - you should contact adidas support because it would be a win win for them and the costumers that play on ag because they're many!
They do offer them in AG though lol. I have a pair, just a bit more difficult to get
@@patitoduck123 it's only the thick heavy ag version they have. Not the 4g version like you get in the ivory. And you can't get the + in ag at all
What about a look back at the vineyard pirlo sig if you’ve still got them?
Absolutely! The color reminded me of those boots too
man I love this colcorway on copas 🤩
Do you think the soleplate is too aggressive for natural (very) hard grounds?
Which soleplate would you recommend for “sunday league” type hard grounds?
I held this boot in hand and the leather feels like some sort of thin rubber and there barely is any leather on the boot anyways. What a shame.
No AG sole plate?
Just got them but i got the pros not the elites
still quality - nice
Tried these, very good but HUGE durability problems when used on AG
Any chance you know if they offer these for ag soleplate?
@@bramos1738i found the pro version for AG, idk if there is this version too
Question: Just bought my first pair of Pure GS Pros, and the quality is great. What's the break-in period like? Should I try the hot water method? Looking forward to wearing these tonight :)
Microwave only.
@@Soccerreviewsforyou dang, now I need a microwave
@@creekboi7u need a brain ❤
@@Soccerreviewsforyouplease explain. I’ve never heard of this and need to break mine in
@@erickdecasas5550 do not microwave your boots man 😂😂 just stuff em with socks
Sadly, the name Copa has been destroyed by Copa Sense and has still not been recovered. I was a Copa fan, but Sense drove me to Mizuno.
Yo Josh I got the Copa Pure II club how would you rate them they fit me pretty well and they give a nice touch with the leather it has
I haven’t personally tried them, so I can’t really comment on how they are for me. If you’re happy with them and they feel good on your feet though, that’s really what matters!
Love your reviews but I j really hope you can review Adler boots. Any plans for Adler?
It's Leather not Kangaroo Leather but glad adi is still putting some out. These are nice boot's 👌
Hi Jaquille o’reele, how is the thickness on these compared to the tekela v4pro? Which one would you choose?
Thanks and top review as always🤠
They’re definitely a little thicker than the Tekelas, but definitely still on the thinner side overall. I love the Tekelas, but you just can’t beat the feel of real leather IMO. I’d personally pick these between those two
Hey Josh,
What is the longest time frame you would risk playing in an event or boot? I’m looking at a few pairs from 7-10 years ago from resellers. Would you say they are too old to play in durability wise? Would greatly appreciate your help 🙏
Hey man. I'm no boot pro, but I did just do this and can give my thoughts.
I coach HS soccer, so I'm not actively competing, but I do wear boots pretty much every day on turf fields. About a year ago, I found a pair of AdiPower Predators from a thrift store (originally released in 2011). I wear them maybe 4 days a week (on game days, I'm not playing, obviously, but training 3 days a week in them).
They're holding up really well. This is my third season in them, and I'm just now starting to see the first signs of separation of the upper from the sole. The leather is worn, but no more than you would expect from three seasons, and the rest of the boot is holding up really well.
I would say that if the boots are known to be built well, you'd probably be fine. As long as there weren't durability issues at the time (and as long as the boots aren't super soft leather, which might degrade faster than the calfskin on my preds), they'll probably do you well. They might wear down a bit faster than a brand new pair, but not by a whole lot.
It really depends on the boot and also how they were stored. Most stuff in that time frame should still be ok to wear, but depending on the pair, I wouldn’t necessarily bet on them lasting a long time.
@@Soccerreviewsforyou they are brand new in box but am not sure how they were stored. Do you think it’s worth the risk?
@@kianbensend Ask the seller how it's stored. Ask very specific questions about the storage conditions. If they can't provide answers, it's going to be a coin toss no matter what.
If my feet are wider, should I go for the Copa Pure 2.1 or should I go with the Predator Elites
Both have decent width to them overall, especially after some break-in time, but neither of them are exceptionally wide if that's what you need.
I have been having problems with the fusion skin upper, it is starting to peel off and revealing the leather is this normal or no?
Is a thumb width in the toebox too much? Just got them and I love the snug fit around my feet, but don't like when my toes hit the end of the shoe when im changing direciton. Not sure how much leather boots stretch over time and if I should go a bit smaller. I got the Pro model (Around 130€ here in Europe)
They won’t really stretch in length. How much space you leave is very much down to personal preference. If they feel ok to you, then I don’t think a thumb’s width is an issue.
@@Soccerreviewsforyou Thank you so much! They feel great already even without breaking them in. Can't wait to play in them :)
what are the main differences between the pro and the elite ?
I need adidas to release a good $150 boot. I'm not going to spend top tier money, and we all know how their 2nd tier choices are. This is why adidas is my favorite choice for sneakers and sportswear but I have a lot of Puma boots.
How do these compare to the Tiempo 9 elites? I’ve been trying to find a boot that’s similar to them cause to me the 9’s are perfect in terms of feel and fit? Any recommendations?
These are significantly thinner with a much slimmer profile and shape overall. They’re very different compared Legend 9s. Great boots though!
@@Soccerreviewsforyou thank you so much! Definitely super helpful. Do you know any boots on the market right now that compare to the 9 elites?
Any nike or adidas for wide feet?
do review on asics ds light x-fly 5
Hey bro do copa last long??
Josh you should review the Adler leather cleats. I’ve been dying to get them but I need that blessing haha
Do they offer the proper AG version that feels the same?
I can’t say that I’ve seen an AG version of the 2+ available anywhere.
Would you recomend this model for someone with wide feet?
They’ll work for a wider foot type, but are they ideal for wide feet, not really. Getting them on might be a struggle as well for someone with really wide feet.
I like the classic look more than the Nike legend that isn’t leather anymore
Lanzera just came back so there’s!! K leather
Hey josh how would u say these compare to the original k leather puma king platinums that came out in 2020? my pair finally tore and i’ve been looking for a replacement that fits, feels, and performs really similar? thanks.
These definitely share some similarities to those. I actually prefer these Copas to those Kings
@@Soccerreviewsforyou thank you!
I also had those puma kings and also switched to these copas😂
But is this narrow?
Yea
Adidas seems to be the leader in heel lock down, Nike scared to have those pillows because of the blisters
String bag ratings.....😢
if i could get a good deal on them i would buy them
Hey Josh, can you please help me pick between the vapor 15 academy turf version and the vapor 15 pro turf version? Is it worth paying the extra premium for the pro versions? As for my preferences, I am looking for something that has a thin upper (for a barefoot feel) and a comfortable fit (not too tight). Thanks
I personally much prefer the Pros over the Academy, but the Academy is also solid.
Energy Citrus? Look Maroon.
Just to narrow
The best boots ever are the Adidas copa mundial
i had a pair of copa mundials a while ago and i was terribly disappointed, the leather was decent but they felt heavy and bulky and they didn’t last long at all
Crazy for me that these are the cheapest in the Adidas line up + you can find the old colourways in discount
For example I'm from Bulgaria and 1 euro is worth 2 lev
These are usually around 480 lev/240 euro but I found the first colourway (the blue and orange ones) for 350 lev/175 euro
