Le Ara Hyacinthe est un grand perroquet, une espèce d'oiseaux appartenant à la famille des Psittacidae. Le plumage de l'Ara hyacinthe est bleu cobalt, avec une zone nue jaune autour de l'œil et de la mâchoire inférieure du bec ; le bleu est légèrement plus foncé sur les ailes ; le dessous de queue et les ailes sont noirâtres. Son iris est brun foncé, et ses pattes gris foncé. Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus possède une voix très puissante. C'est une espèce robuste une fois bien acclimatée. L'ara hyacinthe possède un bec très puissant voire destructeur (pression du bec : 15 kg/cm2). Un tiers de ses muscles se situent dans la tête. Adulte, il a une envergure de 1,30 m à 1,50 m pour un poids allant de 1,4 à 1,7 kg. C'est le plus grand de tous les psittacidés, sa taille atteint 1 mètre à l'âge adulte.*
Cet oiseau vit essentiellement au Brésil : Cerrado, Pantanal et régions avoisinantes de la Bolivie et du Paraguay. Il se nourrit se nourrit de noix du Brésil, noix de palme, et autres noix diverses, cacahuètes non décortiquées, fruits frais et verdure.

The Hyacinth Macaw is a large parrot, a species of birds belonging to the family Psittacidae. The plumage of the Hyacinth Macaw is cobalt blue, with a yellow naked area around the eye and lower jaw of the bill; the blue is slightly darker on the wings; the underside of the tail and wings are blackish. Its iris is dark brown, and its legs dark grey. Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus has a very powerful voice. It is a robust species once acclimatized. The hyacinth macaw has a very powerful or destructive beak (beak pressure: 15 kg/cm2). A third of his muscles are in the head. Adult, it has a wingspan of 1.30 m to 1.50 m and a weight ranging from 1.4 to 1.7 kg. It is the largest of all psittacids, with a height of 1 meter in adulthood.
This bird lives mainly in Brazil: Cerrado, Pantanal and neighbouring regions of Bolivia and Paraguay. It feeds on Brazil nuts, palm nuts, and other various nuts, unshelled peanuts, fresh fruits and greens.
