- The 1999-2007 Classic (GMT-800) Silverado is a great truck. It was the beginning of modern truck interior for ergonomics. The layout was the best at the time and there were a lot of clever ideas. The center console is pretty good for what it is, but when the NNBS truck came out they definitely improved upon it.
In this video we show how swapping these parts are straight forward to swap and doesn't require fabrication.

You can change out just the top arm rest portion between all 99-07, 07-14, 15-18 jump seats. In case for what ever reason you wanna keep the bottom seat part. Just have to unbolt a few more bolts. Helps if you wanna put the 15-18 jump seat onto the 99-07, since it typically involves having to cut the bracket off the 99-07 jump seat.

Very good description! I did this earlier this year in my 05 silverado. One of the best upgrades I've done so far! You and one other channel have a video on this. Nobody really knows that this can be done.
Ya I saw that other video. Hopefully others will see this in a forum. It's such a nice upgrade, I love this console. The cupholders up top is awesome and it feels wider than the old one.

Fun fact you can use a 12 point ratchet wrench or socket for those "e-torx" nuts

I used 6 point with point with out any problems.
I used a regular socket, 15mm for the front bolts..and a smaller socket for the nuts in the back.

Please make a video on how you wired the console for the 12 volt. Where you bought the harness, how you installed it and ran the wires etc. Please, would greatly appreciate it.

I put one in my old truck, you can use wiretaps and splice in off the existing cigarette lighter, or you if you do not want to cut any existing wires buy an add a fuse and plug into any 12v fuse in the interior fuse box. Run the cable under the carpet and you are good to go. Search "How to tap into your cars fuse box safely and cleanly" if you don't know what a fuse tap is.
The console came with pigtails. I just extended it and found power on the passenger side of the dash and spliced it in with a fuse.
I added this center console to my 04 Silverado. Much better than the original one

Those E-torx bolts are literally every bolt holding a Chevy Cruze together. Had to buy a whole set of those sockets just to work on my wife's car. Lol
It's engineers doing their job for the sake of keeping their job...
So FYI for new people the sizes are 15mm and 11mm you can use a 6 piont socket but the corners of the socket on the inside have to be rounded not pointed like others

I tried pens and they didn't fit. I noticed pens fit well on the sides there is are small lines on the side which accommodate them well. I'm just going to go with condoms still.

Are there any direct bolt on replacements for the seats themselves from newer models? My truck is an '01 and the seats are looking a bit tired and outdated.

Deep well sockets I got mine undone. I had a big vteaker bar and then swapped to ratchet with extension to speed up the removal.

I ran power to the power distribution on the ride side of the dash and installed a fuse there. Here's the phone mount video for the bracket

You would have to get the true bucket seats to do this.

Not noticeably. It does if you lower the rear cup holder.

You could take the cup holder assembly from a newer truck and mold it into your existing console. Don't get me wrong, it would be a lot of work.
I love the gmt 800 trucks one of my favorite generation trucks but aren't they consider to be obs than nbs since gmt 800 is a very old generation truck?
I believe GMT 400 is considered OBS right now.

It should, as far as I know, all of the GMT-800 generation pickups have the same basic cab design.

Not really honestly. I've gone 10 years like this and like the simplicity (and I don't want to do the work). All my other vehicles do have power windows so I'm not completely stuck in the stone age ;)

would this be able to work on a 99 sierra ? even if the center consul runs all the way through the middle up to the dash?
I know the cab is the same but I don't know if the seats changed fron 99-02 vs 03-07 classic. If they're the same the install will be the same as this video. You will have to remove your original console.
Will this work if I have a 2006 2500HD regular Cab? If it does and I find a seat - does it matter if I get the seat from a Ext/Crew Cab model?
I don't see why not, the cabs are the same for 1500s as far as I know.

Ya you should be able to once you remove the center. I'm not sure if the main dash is the same underneath though. Could you let us know if you remove it?

My seat are thrashed, 2000 GMC sierra 1500. I like the console upgrade, will the seats out of the donor vehicle work in my truck too? Does anybody know?
They might bolt in, but I don't know if any of the sensor plugs will have the same style of connection, or work.
How much you get that jump seat for? Cheapest one I can find them for is 400 and I think thats a lot just for a used jump seat.
Roughly that much. It is a bit high, but only factory makes them and a lot of people are doing the conversion.
My truck is like a mobile office so it was totally worth it with all the extra storage.
Will the buckets from the 07-13 fit an 05 as well?
I don't know because the power seat and airbag plugs are probably different.

I don't think so without a lot of modification. The GMT-400 is very different and I haven't seen anyone do a swap like this for that chassis. I could be wrong, did you try searching for pictures of others attempting the swap?

i have 2010 silverado and you said that you could put in the 2014+ ones in them by making your own brackets, i was wondering how do you make them or how does that work? does anyone know how to do it?
You would have to make the lower brackets line up with the studs. Unfortunately I dont have a video for that.

I have an 02 avalanche that has armrests built into the seats. Will this not fit for me because of the armrests?
That's a very good question. I'm going to say you're right and it won't. The back rest when in the up position is very snug against the sides of the seat. You could remove the arm rests or replace the seats as well as the console acts like an armrest.

Looks good and thinking about doing this myself! 04 silverado regular cab so any extra space is crucial.. also, the arm rest/3rd cup holder upgrade seems nice!! You mentioned a '14 could work, but need different brackets.. could you expand on that a bit? If so, I may look into the 14!
The 2014 the lower mounting brackets are different enough nothing lines up. I recommend the '07 to '13 for a bolt in installation.
@@AnthonyJ350 may go that route... looks like the front section seems to be pretty similar too.. would hate to have a huge gap in the front near the feet! Wonder... looks a bit lower than the 04-06 ones... wonder if I'll need the dash pieces and glovebox pieces too?

@@brettware1940 You can't because the original seats have the seatbelt built in while the newer ones are attached to the truck body I believe.

I think the bolt pattern for the seat will be the same. The seat and cab seem identical event with the older trucks.

Do 07-13 front seats fit on a 2001 silverado?
Only the center probably will. I don't think the main seats are compatible.
I have a 2011 1500 with that console and after a couple years it starts that squeaking sound when put arm on console. just a fyi.
This one isnt brand new, it's at least 4 years old and it's really solid. Most GMT-900 platforms with this console I've seen in the shop also have been really solid.

That I'm not sure, I've never confirmed it. I know the 2015 and up trucks you have to modify the brackets to make it work in a 2005.
I have a base model '00 Silverado. Just have the seat. No armrest. I'm looking to upgrade to at least a folding armrest or even a full console. Only trouble is my seats are the woven bluish fabric. Hard to match these black jump seats

It should because the front seats all look similar in the front no matter the cab configuration. I've seen bucket setups in single cabs.

That I'm not sure on. The 2023 cab is very different and I'm not sure if the floorboard is the same.

That I haven't tried. Not sure if the seat belt sensor and airbag sensor would be compatible.

We're going to put on some black Rough Country seat covers which should match it better.

From what I researched it would require modifying the brackets more. Might have to cut them, reposition and weld them back to the seat to make it line up properly for the studs.

It would probably be tough. You'd have to measure what space you have, because that is a more narrow truck I'm pretty sure.

You'll probably have to modify the mounts and adapt the sensors for the airbag system.

You can if you're willing to customize it to fit in the truck. O don't believe it's as straight forward a drop in.
You can only use the 14 - 18 console top part. Just unbolt the 2 screw where it folds up and down. Your 03 - 06 console top piece can be replaced to the 14 - 18 only. I've seen it but no TH-cam videos on how to.
If it fits in a GMT800, I can make it fit in a GMT400, this gonna look really good in my 94 Cheyenne.

I did find one through LKQ ( A reseller with a national database) Havent done the swap yet though, we have some snow on the ground and its way to cold to do it! ( I dont have a garage anymore). Soon as the weather breaks the jump seat and seat covers are going in! thx for the vid!!

The space in the lid of the console was for a cell phone or maybe a blackberry!😂😂😂

I just have a static jump seat in my 2000 single cab. I'd love to have a fold down but it's a stick shift. So I'm pretty sure it would be awkward going into 2nd, 4th, and reverse. 😒
Does the throw of the sifter go that far back? Sounds like you need a Hurst short throw shifter.
@@AnthonyJ350 It pretty much takes up that whole space in front of the seat, especially adding room for my arm to comfortably shift. I actually like the feel of my stick and don't really want to change it but the for the suggestion. Merry Christmas.

Has anyone installed this in 99-06 Silverado with a MANUAL trans? Will it affect shifting at all?
The bottom cushion is almost in the same spot, do you just have to see how far the shifter throw back. Hurst makes a short throw shifter I believe for the trucks that will really tighten up the shifts.

I ran wires along the floor and found thick gauge wiring on the passenger side of the dash and added a fuse.

I was looking for a center jump seat lid fix for my 2002 gmc 2500. This is cool but 1000$ for a seat im going to put some wood and screws in mine and spend 1000$ on much better things
