  • What is the best way to play craps? Betting with the shooter on the Pass line and Come bets, or against the shooter with the Don't Pass and Don't Come bets? Today I roll out two very common strategies to see which style is better. Sadly, a short demonstration will not give the finite answer to this age old question.

    • @tzadiko
      @tzadiko 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I really don't think it's possible for both sides to lose, if they're both playing pure contract with odds. What you probably saw is players mixing in other bets, ie hedging. Or the light side better made some place bets.
      The only roll that can lose for one side and not win for the other is a 12 on a come-out or a new Come/DC, which loses for Pass and pushes for DC. But even with lots of 12s, I don't see it can work out that both end up behind.

    @8:38... The way I explain craps to people that have the pre-conceived notion that craps is complicated, I tell them that the beauty of craps is that it is multiple games inside one box and they get to choose the game they want to play. When I'm introducing the game, I'll teach the basic Pass Line bet, then progress to PL with odds, then the 3-Point Molly, and eventually add odds to those Come bets to demonstrate one game versus multiple games. I rarely get into explaining my personal strategies at all, and I don't want to confuse them with payout odds. Just like to see the joy they get from hitting a point and getting chips shoved back to them. If they express more interest, I point them to your channel to learn more. ;-) Thanks for the compare and contrast vid!

    • @ColorUp

      I’ve started going even simpler. “There are 11 numbers to bet on, what number do you think will roll” that’s the whole game. Now let’s learn the different ways to make those bets

    The two or three point Dolly's (from the Don't with odds) is my favorite standard play. Doesn't always work out, but mostly...it does. The advantage of the 2-3 point Dolly's of course is not losing all your bets in a single roll, and flat betting as a favorite with odds to boot...this is just very...powerful. The weakness of course is the come out DP bet/DC with a 7 or 11, but one can hedge these...and I do at least with the come out DP with the 7 hops.
    If there is too many rolls or too many points hit, I will make a switch. Sometimes I mix it up with a 6/8 bet, or a small iron cross to prepare myself for a switch if the shooter gets 'hot' or hits points...
    If playing the light side, usually I play it 1 point Molly style and place whatever numbers I want with it. I find betting the come for the number then placing odds to be more...inefficient/ineffective I guess is the word... than placing the number in which right away you are paid back that number with odds with the light by placing. 7 can be brutal playing 3-point Molly's...as shown in this video example.

    Just returned from 6-night Vegas stay. One session played for close to 5 hours at the Golden Gate. Watched a lot of different people play at the table. My first time using the 3-point molly strategy, usually had 3 numbers working with odds. Buy in for a couple hundo and at one point was down to no chips on the rail and all in play. Tried moving to the dark side when at the table by myself, did not go too well and went back to pass line. About 3 hours in I began setting the dice, my luck turned around and walked with $250 profit after 4 and half hours. This was a $15 table. The come bet is an amazing hedge/ insurance bet and absolutely cushions the blow of big red..imo. Will keep setting my dice from now on, and always have had better success when setting. Also had multiple positive sessions at the Plaza and not being greedy and take small wins makes a difference. A good, timed C&E bet helped as well. Appreciate the videos as they have elevated my game for sure. Thanks, and nice job!!

    Darkside ALL DAY!!!! Once a shooter takes three bets from me I will either sit out or just play a 6 and 8 to get a little bit of the losses back.
    I think people don't play the darkside because they either don't understand it (which many new players don't) or are afraid of the reaction of the whole notion of going "against the shooter." Everytime I play I have to explain the don't to a fellow player and show them why it makes sense. Plus the don't is even better when it works especially for those dice setting stalling the game nerds.....DARK SIDE IS THE BEST SIDE!!!

    Although the don’t pass/come has a slight mathematical advantage, which would (normally) result in a higher chance of profit, I think playing the pass/come results in a better social experience with everyone (except darkside players) cheering and hoping that the point number is hit. Then again, everything comes down to the dice. You could have a monster roll or two one session and then have a bunch of PSO’s the next time. It’s all up to the dice Gods

    I'm usually a Dark Side player. I got burned too many times loading up the table then getting nailed by the seven. I really love to play by myself and just chunk dice down the table doing the Dolly with double odds (also a buck on the Don't with double odds for the dealers) until people come to the table. Then I will sometimes I will place the 6 and 8 and also put the dealers on 6 & 8 for a buck to stay social when there are other players. I'll use a win and bet on the 6/8 for odds when my Don't Come moves there. I also sometimes throw three dollars on the ATS for the fun of the long rolls.

    Craps is beatable because not every outcome has an equal chance of happening and knowing that you can take advantage of bet combinations. Any number on a roulette wheel has an equal chance of happening so the game is unbeatable using strategy unless you can predict what will happen. Craps on the other hand doesn't matter what will happen since you know what numbers will appear more than others.

    • @ColorUp
      @ColorUp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Single numbers on roulette all have equal chance sure, but you can bet on red, which has 18 chances, while there remains 18 black and usually 2 green. Also can bet Sections etc. This is no different than how craps works, certain bets have a certain number of combinations. You can’t beat either game based on combinations. No matter what you bet, the casino takes all if you lose and a % if you win.
