Lay Bets - craps payouts

  • Lay Bets - craps payouts are the opposite of Buy bets. You are betting the seven will show before one of the point numbers. Lay bets pay at the true odds of hitting the number, much like an odds bet. The casino is not going to allow you to make essentially free bets, so lay bets have a commission or vig of 5% Some casinos are going to ask for the vig when you make the bet, or upfront, and keep it whether you win or lose. Other casinos only collect the vig after you win the bet. Some casinos have different minimums for their Lay bets and may be higher than the table minimum.

I did a "test roll" at Red Hawk Casino, Placerville, CA using a simple "Lay 4" strategy for about 3 hours with a $300 bankroll, $5 table minimum and $40 bets. The vig. was taken out up front. I netted about $140. ( I also played Ace-Duce side bets for $1 from time-to-time and hit once so the net figure is within a few dollars of the actual figure netted on the lay 4 bets.)I was a definite grind, but I think it would be a good hedge with a more aggressive strategy.

Wow, I'm the 4th comment! I love your videos. Always great content. -- These people, and their 7's. Don't they know that any bet is a risk? -- I've never made a lay bet before, because of the reversed odds. But, this refresher... it reminds me of how I hedge on Roulette with betting 2 & 3rd twelve. Betting 10 to win 5, or betting 20 to win 10... but with a 2/3rd chance to win.

I live in the Chicago-area and lately our local casinos and the casinos in Indiana have implemented $25 minimum bet craps tables, I was wondering if you had any strategies to help make $100 or $200 last a long time at a $25 table for those of us that like to play the pass line with place bets or come bets. Headed to Vegas tomorrow...your vids are primo. I always lay the 4 as my first bet on the table to get me warmed up. Before the new roll, the advantage for the darkside player is 2:1/66%. But that number increases after the four comes out. Lay the 4 or 10 after they show. If you see them come out twice during the roll of an average shooter, then increase your bet. I never lay if I know a dice setter is rolling, especially if the shooter has a huge stack of chips.

Quick question: How is a lay bet affected by the come out roll? Let's say I have a lay bet on the 4...does a 7 on the come-out roll win (as long as I didn't tell the dealer to make my lay bet OFF)? Is my lay bet on 4 not affected by any other number on the come-out roll (except 4)?

    • @ColorUp

One fun lay bet a person can do. Is lay bet all the numbers before the shooter rolls on the come out roll. If a shooter rolls a point you will only lose one of your lay bets. Shooter rolls a craps 2 or 3 or 12 then your in trouble, unless you have some chips on 3 bad craps numbers as a hedge which is located in the horn bet area.

    Good video. A couple thoughts.
    1. The higher min for lay bets makes your cession bankroll larger.
    2. The larger ying/yang for craps, there’s no trend other than instincts.
    3. Why even do DC and COME bets if you can lay them?
    4. Why even play the pass line for 10.00 or a low amount? The opposite would be to parlay a winning point to the pass line bc of the 7.
    5. A player can bet larger amounts on place bets then take them down instead of this come bet 10.00, why?
    6. Betting the no 10 or 4 or any number on the come out for a 7?
    7. We realize why these questions go around and around bc everything is random and instincts and how to leverage press houses money is the key. 😎

Come bets for the ability to add free odds and lower the house edge. DC bets once you get past the initial roll you now have a mathematical edge over the casino, vs lay bet that pays fair odds. I'm a dark side player and always lay the 4 for $60 on the come out roll with a $10 DP and take the bet down after the point's established. That way I net $20 when a 7 pops and shifts my risk to the 4 and 11.

    • @ColorUp

Remove the lay? It’s always more likely to win vs lose, no matter when in the game. Many people play the hard way to hedge the number a little. Hedges protects if the hard number rolls, but don’t win as much if 7 rolls…so just depends what rolls.

I occasionally play the dark side. But yeah those high minimums that are above table minimums make it expensive. The casinos really want to make it as easy for them to profit from us as possible, don’t they?

don't come the dice chooses number you bet on, house edge lower, you can bet at table minimum, and there is no vig, Lay bet you can choose the number, but have to pay a vig, and usually might have to bet a minimum of $40

can i lay 4&10 for 100 and only pay 2 dollar vig

    • @mvondrak
      @mvondrak 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Depends. Some places will charge a “total” for both vigs. Seeing as you’d win $50 total they should only charge $2. Now if you lay 4&10 for $100 a piece for a $200 bet they’d charge $5 for a $100 win. Now if you bet them separate, say you lay the 4 for $100, they’d charge you $2. Then a few rolls later you lay the 10 for $100, they may charge you $2, but they might ask for $3, seeing as you’d win $100 total making it a $5 vig. So it’s a bit of a gray area. But pay attention to what they charge, because if you remove the bet before it wins, they will return you vig as well. So make sure you get back the proper amount. I know it’s only pennies in the grand scheme of things, but hey! $2 is $2!

Sorry. It’s called betting on the favorite. Applies to boxing , football, anything really. When betting on favorites you win back less than you bet. In craps, a lay bet is favored to win this you get paid less. You can bet on the underdog and get paid more if that’s how you like to bet.
