Links in the description for all links to products I recommend. (BTW: I messed up on the translation photoshop part, lol. But you get the idea of printing regardless.)
Is there a specific reason you prefer to print horizontally? 🤔 I see that you end up with 8 cards, I had found that printing vertically produces 9 cards so it is an extra, so if I print 20 sheets that is 3 decks of exactly 60 cards each, and I save 4 sheets of paper 🤔 thanks! thanks by the way, I needed to find the right paper and I'll try to get the ones you used ✌🏻 and... For full art cards, I recommend using Photoshop with a mix of the techniques you use, because it turns out that the patch tool is very good for removing those letters and restoring the background without text, although it does not look exactly like the original drawing when you put the letters translated on top and the rule boxes cut out from other already translated cards, you don't really notice, because the size of the cards and it seems like they were official translations, yes it takes more time to restore the card but the result is satisfactory 👌🏻
The size that I print out as is the perfect for sleeves that I prefer. Since this video I use Adobe AI now to remove the samples and yes I agree, yours or my methods work extremely well! :D
@MabiTCG I see, I will take that into account 😸👌🏻, thank you very much, your video helped me clarify some things about the printing process that I needed, I am not looking to make them perfect, but if I am going to spend my resources, I want them to at least look and feel good, for I have liked the TCG for many years but since I am from Mexico, many collections never come in Spanish and the ones available in English become too expensive. I like to collect some cards but for the purposes of physically playing the game. TCG has become impossible to build decks, I found myself having to print cards to play, but I took advantage of my experience in digital tools to translate game decks that never came out in my native language, it was tiring but in the end I enjoyed it better 😸 even if I can playing them digitally, the experience of physically playing cards is magical and that has no borders no matter where you are from 😸
Should I use QYH Premium Printable Vinyl Sticker Paper - 50 Matte White Waterproof Decal Paper Sheets for Inkjet Printer Standard Letter Size 8.5"x11" for the back and Thick Heavyweight Photo Paper Double Sided Glossy Cardstock 80LB 300Gsm for the front
Gotta set the printer speed as slow as possible. Depends on the printer but for mine but had to set it on "Silent" mode to it goes slower in general in that mode
hi what shortcut keys did you do to rescale the pic to another? im new to this but i just wanna play first proxies before I buy a whole set. i tried printing but i dont know how to set it in the correct paper size and the actual card size lol. im a newb
It's a macro I set up. Wouldn't help you to explain it. BUT! The resolutions I use are 1155x1650. That fits 2x cards horizontal. I keep it that way as files for easy printing when I need them
Are you going to be exploring with foil paper? I used to make proxies until my laser printer went out. I still used everything you mentioned minus a laser printer instead of the epson you use but i also used a laminater because the ink would rub off on the foil paper so i laminated it to keep the ink on the card it worked well. If you do find a good foil paper please do an updated video. 😊
People who hate proxys are just gate keeping the hobby. It's extremely toxic and is a byproduct of latent insecurities. Not everyone can afford decks or have access to cards. They're "purist" who think because they spend 100$+ on a deck have to validate their purchases
hey Mabi! Im interested in using the middle option the thin glossy paper. What paper is that ? just got in to proxyes and I really like the color of the glossy paper. I want to combine that with the junk card for support. Its easier since i'm printing on a store and not at home. Makes everything simpler
Dragon shields are always going to be better than bulk sleeves like I'm using here. They shuffle really well. Not sure about the double sleeve space, but the ones I recommend here are solely for mass use. Definitely use better end ones if you're worried about that, :D
Hello Mabi! The link for the 300 GSM paper on Amazon isn’t available, and I’ve spent some time looking for the same paper but can’t find any. Do you have any recommendations on where else I could find the paper? Thank you!
Hey! Yup currently unavailable. For a substitute I'm currently testing out this one. It's bit thinner but might do the trick anyways. I have the paper but haven't printed on it yet amzn.to/3VxGJc7
it seems the paper in your des is too thick being 300gsm, on their website it says that the et 2800 only supports up to only 100 GSM which is weird to me because you are using 300 gsm in the video correct?
@@MabiTCG i have all the setting set to the video. the exact printer you have in the des aswell as the paper you recommended the 300gsm no backing. I have been putting one sheet on the tray when i go to print , the printer does not feed the paper and says that the printer is jammed.
Yup, I'm using the ink that came with it. You're having issues with the same one? Definitely set your printer to slow print, and load in 1 paper in the tray at a time if using the thick stuff
Hi, i got the same printer and my prints come out dreadfull. the colors are way off/ very bright and changing them in photoshop barely changes anything. can you give me some pointers on your printer settings?
If everything's the same, the only thing I can think of is maybe the ink might be different if they don't look like mine in the video. Like maybe they packaged a different one
Absolutely works for me. Just anything really thick you gotta use 1 at a time. Here's the info for this specific printer: files.support.epson.com/docid/cpd6/cpd60271/index.html?page=source%2Fspecifications%2Freferences%2Fet2800_l3260%2Fspex_paper_spc_et2800_l3260.html
@MabiTCG last two questions Are magic tcg similar to the thickness you are printing on and is there a matte or non glossy option to your paper thickness?
I'm not going to lie none of this makes sense lol I'm using all the same things you're using and none of it matches. i wish you had a step-by-step vid of how to proxy cards for Gimp beginners.

That's really great to hear! Hope you get the printing process down exactly the way you want, :D
Wow, your proxy cards look amazing. This is a good way to get cards for local/casual gameplay.
hell ye
Great video, appreciate it! Allowed to use proxies in store due to stock delays so this definitely helped as I had no idea where to start!
Glad it helped! Let me know if you need anything else clarified
I did the first method to print out Rainbow Luffy proxies for the OP06 pre-release in my local
Great in a pinch, :D
my guy, you are a real one for making this video❤❤❤❤
Hope it helps
How do you print them without those lines? (printer lines) 16:52
I explained in the video. Make sure your printer is set to print as slow as possible

Wouldn't be able to give you a good recommendation on double sided paper for double side printing, :(
Which paper is good for yugioh cause I want to make the anime cards with front and back together on the same card
I haven't tried using any back printing yet
@@MabiTCG would you make a video on making back printing cause I can’t find no showing how to do it
Any tips on printing Exburst content? Whenever I print from there, the cards are slightly smaller than the actual cards.
When you print if you have the option, bump it up by 2-3% (102%-103%)
@MabiTCG Thank you🙏. Love the proxied videos. I have tons of UA JP cards. I wish I could just proxy the text so I can see the actual cards..lol
I know what you mean! Translations are great but you lose a lot of the art, :D
How did you solve the problem where appear lines on the card impression??

I haven't had the need to try out foil yet. I make so much in batches it'd be expensive to keep that up.
@@MabiTCG could try it out just for the alt arts leaders.
just got into proxies, thanks for the guide
Enjoy!
i came from yugioh and we never really used proxies. felt like it was kinda looked down upon but then again meta staples are like 80+

Is cool and I am on board with this. But, it all depends on your locals. Some will be okay with it some aren’t okay with this.
Absolutely. In the end we're just trying to play though, D:
Hey Mabi thank you for the videos! Which paper in the links that you actually used for this video, the 230g or the 300g?
The heavier one the 80lb 300Gsm one
Great video! Quick question: which software and printing settings you used?
I just use GIMP (Free)
Nothing changed in print settings, just slow speed

Hey! It's the HP Premium Plus Photo Paper, Glossy. The link is in the description, :D
Do those deck boxes fit double sleeved one piece decks?
Are the sleeves comparable to dragon shields?
How do they shuffle?
Dragon shields are always going to be better than bulk sleeves like I'm using here.
They shuffle really well.

By any chance how do you arrange 8 individual proxies on just one page?
2550x3000 page
2x4 card setup

Do you have UA templates for proxy’s?
Check out the Exburst Union Arena website

I didnt cover foil but there’s specific foil paper overlays you can buy to sticker over to make them shiny

If it turns out good, maybe I'll make a video
Ooo nice do it. I'd like to see your end results
I'm using a semi gloss 80lb paper but I keep getting bleeding on the paper. How do I fix this?
Depends on the printer & ink type. I'm not using a typical ink. It's a fast drying bottle ink
