I used to have a 99 TJ with the 4.0 in it, but the previous owners didn't take care of it (trips to the beach with no washing...). Your rebuild series has really tugged at my heart strings to get another TJ. I've been looking around for another just like it, but can't seem to find any half doors. Keep up the awesome work, and I'm glad to have found your channel for when I do get another one.
Got to the premiere late, then the boss came around the corner so I had to minimize the video and didn't see the end. Ha! Now I'm watching the entire video. I could look at clean 4.0's all day...and the 4.2's!
Put a cloth rag in the throttle intake, to keep small screws from falling in. I've know of two engines that were destroyed by a small screw... No kidding. When time to start, free crack engine without spark plugs. No jam ups.. time to start..Yeah !!
The closing hat throw at the end was a little weak, but other than that great video! JK. This series in cool and I'm glad we have the red YJ to look forward to.
I know this video is months old but was just thinking how much the old rusty bolts might eventually transfer rust to the engine, getting ready to put my 4.0 back in and have been thinking about this, wonder if I should paint the bolt heads at least.?
It's a Milwaukee 3/8" driver. The more I'm using it, the more I like it. Makes quick work of things. I think I linked the one I have in this videos description.
It only works to 35 ft #, so don't expect it to break nuts loose. You can use it manually to break nuts loose, then power wrench them off. Works quick.
Installed my new 4.0 in my 96 ZJ. Is it me or is the engine supposed to sit tilted back towards the firewall? I put new motor mounts in so I was wondering if maybe because they're new the front of the engine is a little higher now. Did you have that same problem or could it be the transmission mount needing to be changed?
@@JeepSolid okay cool cuz I thought maybe I did something wrong. This is my first engine swap so any and all advice is welcome. Think I'm going to replace that transmission mount anyways cuz it's all greasy and over 20 years old. Thanks!
Going through my own 4.0 rebuild following all your videos, they're a lifesaver. Do you think it would have been easier to install the manifolds prior to dropping the engine in?
Hey dale. I need your herp. I am Germany an i Love my 1992 yj 4.0 . In Germany is no real jeep Shop ans i buy erverything in USA. But noware i can find a new charcoal canister 53030242. Can you tell me a side wer i can find it ? Greez Andy
I'm not sure off the top of my head... I have about 4 million things going on right now. Remind me later if you still need help. Super busy for the next 2 weeks.

Thanks! They are a lot of fun to work on. That is if you're not in a hurry..
Engine block and motor mounts look good !!
Thank you!
Please.. give us a date for the first fire up.cant wait..
It's a few weeks away. Work keeps getting in the way. Haha
It feels like forever since the last video! Keep them going! Can’t wait to hear it run!!
Thanks! Very soon!
We feel the same way
Do you have a detailed video on connecting all of the vacuum lines for the 4.0L YJ?

Good tip. Thanks!
I liked the time lapse footage. I could watch that all day.
Yeah. Time lapse is fun.

Thanks Mike. yeah, kinda a weak throw. Haha!
Haha. Maybe you gotta sprinkle in some easy ones now and then so the longer ones are more impressive
Ha! Setting the bar high with jeep builds and hat hook throws! 😎
I don’t know if you saw but your power steering pulley was cracked while you were putting it on.

I appreciate your attention to detail and the fact that you linked the craftsman torque wrench in the description! Thanks Dale!
Thank you 👍
Good tip there Dale as far as starting the bolts for the exhaust/intake manifold 👍
Thanks. That can be a pain
Love your videos thank you dale
No problem. Thanks for following along
Getting so close Dale . Looking forward to the first fire up . Take care !!
Me too 👍
Dale what's those iron man engine mounts
They're called Brown Dog Motor Mounts, www.browndogindustries.com
I haven't had a chance to watch all the videos yet. I'm rebuilding the 4.0 in my TJ. Which engine paint did you use? prep for it?

What is that red driver you are using and is it a impact, also how do you like it?
It's a Milwaukee 3/8" driver. The more I'm using it, the more I like it. Makes quick work of things. I think I linked the one I have in this videos description.
I have the exact one, too, and I love it
Awesome I have been looking into getting one like yours but I like real world feedback from real people that use it.
Thanks
Looks like it's not impact tho

The motor naturally sits at an angle. Firewall side lower.

You cant get an accurate torque setting with extensions....
It definitely alters it a bit. I should make a video on how people account for the extensions
@@JeepSolid He might mean hair extensions, in which case you're a-ok

Can you show how your exhaust is connecting to your new manifold? I have what looks like the same one, and it seems to be not correct.
I think that's coming in a future video. I think...
